    I like this video a lot. You really managed to capture what it's like to drive through those coastal villages and the terrain changes and also some of the surprises one may encounter. I'm sending this one to friends still in the U.S. ... I'm pretty sure some of them think we are nutz for doing this. We're in Oaxaca now for a whole year. 22 months since we left the U.S.

    Hola I live in Manzanillo Mexico and when you see the military it’s because there was something that went down and they are protecting the city. Just FYI. Love you videos and that you two actually are showing good stuff. Keep it up. Happy to find your UA-cam!

      Yes we actually feel really good when we see them. They’ve never given us trouble. Glad you enjoyed the video and we can’t wait to share more of Mexico with you ☺️

      Another reason they're in the road is to stop illegal migration. The soldiers you see are almost all people doing their required social service. Other units are Navy soldiers. In general, they do not look for people to bribe them. If you do approach an officer of the law looking for you to pay a "fine" in cash to the officer ask to go to the local police station to pay "the fine" there. You'll see they give up on getting money off of you and let you go.

      Thank you! We feel so lucky to have a drone during our travels in Mexico - the scenery is so beautiful. If you can believe it, we had 1.5 hours of drone footage just for this video. It was hard to choose which ones to put in the video!

      @@nicoleandmico It was amazing, and your editing was spot-on. That little house built into the cliff was SO cool and you captured the front, near the ocean, and back as you drove past. Nicely done, again!

    I was expecting a lot worse with Evie based on how you previously described your arrival at the Puerto Escondido Airbnb in member videos, but you probably edited a lot out or couldn't film it. lol
    The videography and editing in the video is so good too. It has improved a lot!

    • @nicoleandmico
      @nicoleandmico  3 місяці тому

      Haha you're right Peter - we rewatched the footage and realized that we would probably ruin a lot of people's breakfast if we kept in the grosser parts of her "adventure" 😂 We did our best to keep the scene meal-friendly for anyone who was eating while watching lol.
      Thank you for the compliments on the editing! We're nearly a year into editing with Final Cut Pro now and I think our comfort with the program is finally starting to show. There's still so much to learn, but we're slowly getting there

    Really enjoying this series! It's making us very excited for our travels. We are currently just finishing up 8 months in Asia and soon we will be doing the opposite of you guys and starting in Argentina and working upwards. I'm very excited for your Guatemala videos :) Are you preferring travelling with the car or your usual way with public transport etc?

    • @nicoleandmico
      @nicoleandmico  3 місяці тому

      That sounds amazing!! We would have love to have a vehicle when we traveled South America a couple of years ago, there's just so much to see in terms of natural beauty and we know we would have seen more with our own vehicle. To answer your question about our travel preference, we love having a vehicle in terms of the day-to-day and the freedom it gives us when we're in a country. But it definitely adds a tricky dimension to border crossings and visa permits. The car basically has it's own "tourist visa" in every country and is bound by its own rules, and we've found those rules have impacted us a lot more than we expected. But I certainly don't miss taking 24 hour bus rides!

    Aww, I'm sad you only got 1 night in Zihua. It's such a special place. The problem with Mexico is that there are just too many of these special places though!

    I did the trip from Mazatlán to Puerto Escondido by bus a couple of years ago. I really hated going through the small towns and not being able to stop for food :) I did stop in Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo, Zihuatanejo, Acapulco, and then flew to Puerto Escondido when the bus changed my departure time. Both Zihua and Acapulco were great places to stay a few days ... Acapulco is probably my favorite vacation spot so far. Manzanillo was more industrial than touristy - which is a nice change in a Méxican beach town. On your way back up you'll have to make Acapulco a stop for a few days!

    • @nicoleandmico
      @nicoleandmico  3 місяці тому +1

      Yes the good was truly the best part and we feel so free being able to stop anywhere. Having traveled by bus often, we totally understand what you mean. Thanks for the recommendations and we’ll see if we can stop in Acapulco on the way back one day!
