Tikal , La Corona , Caracol and other Ancient Cities in Guatemala . What an amazing culture and history . More than 60000 ancient sctuctures have been identified expanding the size of the Maya cities but also revealing totally unknown cities and settlements . This is crazy and so magnificent I ❤Guatemala . I want to be in Guatemala .
22:09 Buy the Mayan sweater! It’s a striped hoodie with a pocket on the belly. They come in different colors and are made of 100% wool. I have two of them and I love them! The price is only around Q150. (The tourist price is twice that.)
Well done capturing this beautiful city. I came here 2 and half years ago and there is always more to discover. As far the nuns, they lived in cloister, a vow of seclusion from the eyes of the general public. I've been reading a lot of history books on Antigua and put a synopsis of each landmark on our website for anyone who wants to learn more about the sights and attractions here. Thanks guys for sharing your perspective. That sense of awe and wonder is what had me fall in love with Antigua!
Thank you for showing Antigua! I've been to Mexico twice and loved it so much! I've been considering Guatemala or Colombia as my next destination. I love visiting mercados in Mexico (especially the one in Oaxaca) so I wish you have shown more of the things going on and what they are selling in the mercado that you visited in Antigua. Anyway, safe travels!
I just discovered your channel guys, you got a New subscriber now from Guatemala. I hope you enjoy Antigua and Guatemala in general. Welcome to Guate. 🇬🇹
Hello guys thanks for visiting my country, this is so far my favorite video of Antigua, I will keep watching any content that you upload God Bless You.
I enjoy this video. You did not visit Coffee farms, the border of the city with its Garden Coffees, the incredibles McDonald and Starbucks😢, but I hope you visit more next time.
Can u make a video how tall are able to eat street food ? What are ur tips of not getting sick ? Where can we buy water bottles once we’re there ? We’re going in February and love ur videos but this would help a lot ! Tysm! I just subscribed
Thank you for sharing! Fun fact: there is an Airbnb in the arch with a balcony that overlooks the street and one that overlooks the interior courtyard. It was a difficult climb up the stairs after hiking Acatenango! LOL So glad to see you had a wonderful time there too!
I recomend visit in Antigua Filadelfia Farm, or La Azotea Farm (tour of coffee farms), Hobbitenango, Altamira, San Juan del Obispo Town, Cerro de la Cruz.
I chuckled😭 I’ve never heard anyone call a tostada a big nacho😂 I mean nachos do come from cut up tortillas so i could see your point but a tostada is a fried tortilla.
Between the beautiful landscape that is accented with volcanoes and the wonderful feel of the area I can see why this is a must visit place. Clothing is one of those functional souvenirs that I enjoy cleaning my closet out of a few ratty/well loved items to make room for. And how spoiled are you guys for coffee being in this region of the world?
Totally! We had heard such amazing things, and man did Antigua deliver :) The clothing selection has been so beautiful. It would make an excellent souvenir
It’s enjoyable watching your progress through Central America, my knowledge is limited so anything you show is educational, thanks for the enthusiasm and personality ✌️❤️🇬🇧
I think the pg-13 moment is inspiration of the fountain of neptun in Italy. Also the story behind it was because the woman didn’t want to breastfeed her children she was tied and forced to and she died of starvation and thirst.
2:41 The fountain in Antigua Guatemala’s Central Park is called the Fuente de las Sirenas (Fountain of the Sirens). It was designed by Diego de Porres in 1739, during the Spanish colonial period. The design of the fountain, with water emerging from the breasts of women, was symbolic. The women are sirens, mythological creatures that often represented temptation and allure. In colonial Latin America, fountains were frequently both artistic and practical, as they provided water to the community. The specific imagery of water flowing from the sirens’ breasts can be interpreted as a representation of fertility, nourishment, and life-giving qualities, symbolizing the abundance and sustenance provided by water. While some interpretations highlight the mythical aspect of the sirens, others see it as a reflection of the importance of water in nurturing the city, given its role as a key resource in daily life at the time. The fountain also adds an aesthetic layer to the colonial architecture and baroque artistic expression in Antigua Guatemala.
Hi Nicole and Mico, This is an excellent video. I enjoy watching this series on North America. The fountain is definitely attractive. I read that it was inspired by the Neptune Fountain in Bologna, Italy. I am glad you're having so much fun. I'm sorry Evie can't go everywhere with you. The city looks like a good-sized city, and I am sure she has places to enjoy herself when the family is together. Saludos
Thanks so much for letting us know you enjoyed the video! We are lucky to be able to bring Evie to most places with us, on this day it just wasn't possible to bring her to the ruins or the top of the church. But we are so glad she was abel to climb Acatenango with us in the last video! She is a lucky girl to see so much of the world :)
Hello guys I dont know if you still in ANTIGUA because I know you edit vieos and dont upload the same day but if you are in ANTIGUA go to CASA DEL CARDAMOMO is a cafeteria who make cafe of CARDAMOMO and CHOCOLATERIE but also make some plates with CARDAMOMO the owner of that place is a friend of mine her name CAROLA and tell her I told you about the place you are going to love it...hugs from MIAMI
Welcome to Guatemala amigos. You still need to go see Iximche another set of ruins left by the Kakchiqueles, they are amazing nonetheless where you can also experience a Mayan ritual where Mayas thank Mother Earth and burn incense to thank the north, south, east , and west for their blessings. Thank you 🙏 again amigos and enjoy your stay in Guatemala to the fullest. Blessings.
Interesting fact - when I crossed the border from Guatemala into Belize everyone suddenly stopped speaking Spanish and started speaking English 😁 Belize is the only country in Central America that speaks English. If you manage to make it to the Guatemala-Belize border (if you're visiting Tikal for instance) my recommendation is not to miss the ATM cave, it's incredible!! :)
It was a special day in Antigua. I've never seen an sports car show there. We just celebrated Independence day, so maybe that was the reason of the parade. You should go inside Starbucks or McDonald's. The decoration is "Antiguan"... and there is a Subway there
Hey! My dresses are from a merino wool company that I've come to love! The one in this video is called Maggie and if you've seen my green one that one is called Sierra. I'll link the Maggie here for you in case you want to check them out: shrsl.com/4nt7b
Hi guys. Love your channel! Such great energy and fun. Question on safety for Nicole. I notice you wear that nice backpack. Ever think about pickpockets wearing a backpack through crowds?
Thanks for watching! We're very conscious about potential theft and have managed to not had any issues in our years of traveling. In case it did ever happen, I carry very little of worth in my backpack to make sure nothing of importance could be taken :)
Don't worry, Antigua Guatemala is a very safe place, there are cameras everywhere and if there is a robbery there are panic buttons almost on every corner.
Well, there was a reporter from Chicago that expressed that, that is the reason why Guatemala is so “underrated “, sadly people think there are thieves in every corner in Guatemala. To the contrary, Antigua is a very safe city as well as Guatemala City Downtown. Don’t believe those rumors.
@nicoleandmico as a fellow youtuber, I think you did a great job of connecting with your audience (talking to the camera) and overlaying pictures of what you are seeing... this is a vlog style video people should expect you to talk to the camera and connect with your audience..... how else are they supposed to get to know you, love you and SUBSCRIBE!! ❤ Great job guys!
I think that you're missing the opportunity to know the countries that you're visiting if you insist on using preconceived knowledge of a region. To start Latin America is a concept created by the French to separate Mexico from the USA you can do your research. Yes, it was Napoleon III and employees that came out with that concept which actually helped him to his aim to conquer Mexico. At the end, Napoleon couldn't keep Mexico and the French were kicked out, this intent or war actually gave birth to the famous Cinco de Mayo. Latin America was born to separate a region not to unite a region. Another inaccurate fact of the region is that it excludes the french speaking countries even thought the concept is to group countries that speak languages derived from the Latin. So the Latin race doesn't exist, the Latin brotherhood is actually not a brotherhood at all. All the countries in Latin America are composed of different racial and ethnic groups. Therefore, all the countries in Latin America have their own traditions, customs, believes, culture and so on,... The true is that these countries has similarities and some adopt or copy their neighbors which is the case of Guatemala. Millions of people think that Latin American culture is the Mexican culture. As far as I'm concerned even within Mexico the culture changes even from state to state and this is due to the 65 different ethnic groups in Mexico which belong to the Mesoamerican race. Yes, indigenous groups are not even race related. Another fact that makes every country different n Latin America is the immigration patterns from other continents, As you keep going south you will see the difference. So I wouldn't put all eggs (countries) in the basket named latin America as you will be missing the hunger for learning,.
Guatemala is my favorite country in Latin América

You have to go to Pollo Campero. It's like going to Jollibee in the Philippines with Guatemalan taste 😋
YES!!! We have actually been and we went because Mico was reminded of Jollibee 😂 He loved it! We filmed the experience for our upcoming food vlog!
I chuckled😭 I’ve never heard anyone call a tostada a big nacho😂 I mean nachos do come from cut up tortillas so i could see your point but a tostada is a fried tortilla.
