  • I built this hot tub base for only $200. Lumber was most of that cost. I used 4 x 6s, 6 inch lag bolts, and 2 tons of Breeze (crushed granite) that I wet and tampered. Breeze is a crushed material made from granite. It can be used for a variety of purposes, including as a base for pavers, patios, and flagstone materials, or for filling gaps in walkways and making pathways. Breeze is inexpensive, easy to grade, and compacts well.

Not a good choice for the base of a hot tub. Recommend crushed gravel instead; it will settle less.

We packed it. It’s as hard as concrete

Sand doesn't drain very well and can shift with weight. Gravel overcomes these issues.

@@The-DIY-Guidebut you didn't say in the video what you used. Not very helpful of a DYI Guide if we don't know what you used.

Just some "constructive" feedback, pun intended... the moment I saw you just bend over the spike and leave it was the moment you lost all credibility. Good luck with your future videos!

I pulled it out at the end. Was racing a thunderstorm and had all my gravel in the parking lot. Had to hurry to prevent it from all washing away in the rain. Made it by a few mins.

3/4 stone would have been the better choice, fine sand on top doesnt allow for proper drainage.
