I just chose a BG 8000 over the new Penn Battle III.... And its my first Diawa, Ive been a Penn man for 40 years. People loved their BG 8000's so much I chose it. Was I wrong?
Maintenance question on the melted Penn drag knob. How many years into it's life did it fail? Did you ever grease the drag washers during those years? Did you ever accidentally dunk the reel in the salt water? I just bought a battle ii 8000 today, I wish I had watched this video first I had no idea that the plastic there might melt. I hope it was lack of grease.
Hi bro. It fails after fighting 70kg YFT. I have used it for 3 years but before it fails I only fought 35kg YFT the biggest. Yes I do maintain my reel regularly. It safe to say that 35kg fish and below no issue.
BG IS VERY GOOD...is the cheapest reel with fast retrieve...if you are going to wet it a bit you should put a GREASE UNDER THE ROTOR!, there is water accumulating
i could see that drag knob cooking under the load those fish will put out. maybe switching out that top metal spacer for a teflon one will dissipate the heat better ? just thinking .

Bro i cant compare right now I need to try my daiwa first then after that i’ll give you a feedback. I like penn battle that’s one thing for sure. I already caught big fishes for that reel. GT and YFT. I cant test my BG because of this pandemic.
@@LanixFishingChannel the Lethal LT 100 is fantastic! better gears (brass), and the drag system is MUCH better than penn or daiwa, because the reel is supported in such a way that it can actually handle the heavy drag pressures of 50 lbs. I've caught tuna, sharks, and wahoo with the lethal lt100 and it is built like a tank and made dor the job. Make sure thay you get the lt100 because the smaller sizes have inferior zinc gears and drag system. LT 100 is the reel you want!
@@fishingbrasil the line capacity is comparable, but slightly less on the Fin nor Lethal LT100.... but you get a stronger metal rotor, stronger drag, and much stronger and higher quality gears. The gears are brass which will last significantly longer than the cast zinc gears in the daiwa.

Diawa is much better than Penn in my opinion.
The spinfisher 6 drag cap fits in the battle and fierce and it's metal it's a nice upgrade

Saragosa is better for saltwater. Take note that the BG 5000 same size as the saragosa 8000.
