The last update caused so many issues for me and I had to go through the pain of downgrading to the previous version. Using all of the steps I was able to get that power button to stop showing the update and shutdown only option. I used the 3rd method and it works. My ''experience'' with my new Windows 10 computer is that Win 10 is total and complete garbage. Trying to force updates on me constantly and relentlessly. And is buggy and hell. I have had to restore my system several times this year. I hope Microsoft goes bankrupt and Bill Gates goes to hell for putting Win 10 on the market even before the bugs were worked out.

I wonder why I don't have "Install Updates and Shutdown" option on my Win 10 Pro. Updates are automatically downloaded but they sit untouched for weeks/months. They're never installed unless I do it manually (Install Now). I've never had that problem on WinXP and 7.
I think you need to investigate the SHUTDOWN button again...when you get updates. It has a option now to shutdown or reboot without install, 5 options show instead of 3.
the security update for windows legit sucks. black screen desktop takes 1-2 hours to load, start and search aren't working. it's an actual fucking nightmare and makes me want to move on to linux ubuntu or some linus distro

Your Windows software must have gotten corrupt. Try running a system restore. You can search on the internet how to open advanced startup repair. This will allow you to use system restore, which restores your PC to an earlier date when the files were not damaged. It will not change any documents, pictures, etc. but it might uninstall a few apps.
October 2020. Option 3 Power Button shutdown does NOT bypass Windows updates. Yes it does shutdown but it will immediately go into update mode. If you try to bypass it by hard shutdown Windows will still do the intended updates under the guise of "Repairing the System" when you Boot up again at a later time. The "repair system" bullshit update took my Windows 10 just under half hour to actually get to my home screen. DON'T DO OPTION 3 Power Button. Waste of time.

@Prism I get its harsh but he has a point. They enforce updates which dont even help me out, Let the users have a choice to update or not

The second method worked...but then 24 hours later it's back to the same. "Update and shut down". Sigh.
