Thank you for your video on the Gem. What I do recommend is using a white finishing pad to buff in your oil. The bonnet can be used once you buff in the oil.
Hey thanks for taking the time to watch the video and comment! That's exactly what we do, I must have stumbled over my words! We use the white scotch bright applicator for applying finish and use the bonnet for buffing an hour after! Thanks!
No I have not used this is a sander yet however I will be next week when I'm completing a floor sanding and refinishing project in a retail space we are working on! I did the full rough sanding already, but planning on using the GEM to do a finish sanding on it. I'm sure it would work great on large surface area table tops! They also sell a dust shroud with vacuum port for dust collection. I thankfully have a large dual drum sander which helps in the sanding process tremendously, but I totally feel you on doing full sanding with one of the festool rotax sanders... It does take a lot of time
GEM does sell sanding pads and a dust shroud connector for this unit. However I feel like it would be a great finish sander food flooring, but possibly not the best for sanding through old layers of finish. The random orbital movement isn't incredibly aggressive, I'm sure it would get the job done I just think it would take a while.
