Honestly, it's kind of funny in hindsight. A ton of people I know are skeptical that Nintendo would just iterate on the Switch because that's generally not how their consoles have operated before (i.e.: GCN, Wii, Wii-U and Switch are all different beasts)... but looking at this and thinking about it again, I'm realizing that iterating on the Switch's basic setup is exactly in-line with Nintendo's *handheld* mindset. Like, the Gameboy Color is a streamlined Gameboy Original. Advance rearranges it to be horizontal, while SP goes back to vertical with the folding screen. DS essentially elongates the SP design (with an extra screen), and then 3DS is itself an iteration on the original DS design. So it actually would make a lot of sense for the Switch's successor to take that route. I'd never actually thought about it that way before - just another advantage of the Switch being a handheld-console hybrid.

Those parts do not look like 3D prints, they're what's known as "first shots"; rough plastic parts that are produced during tool development while the mold is being tested and debugged. The reason the surface is so scuffed is because the final step of tooling is to polish the molds.
Austin: I know next to nothing about this kind of production, but based on that description it sounds like that might be somewhat of an exclusive thing to be in the same room as, which raises questions about why someone who would leak this was let in the room with it, and how they were able to just take a picture of it unnoticed. Unless I'm just wrong and those kinds of models are more commonly produced or made per-factory or something.
What I'm learning from this comment section is that Nintendo fans don't know how magnets work. Let me be clear: Everything except the plastic in your Switch 2 will have rotted and corroded beyond any repair or reuse and you will be DEAD long before the magnets lose a meaningful fraction of their strength.
Do people really think that magnets “die?” How tf would that happen, do they run out of charge like a battery??? Edit: Yes, I know batteries can lose their charge. I’m referring to how magnets will not gradually lose strength as they are continually use, much like how a phone battery drains as it is used. I know temperature can kill magnets.

The Switch was lightning in a bottle for Nintendo. So glad they appear to have recognized that and not dumped the bottle to try and catch another strike.
I mean so was the Wii and the DS. Their first rendition of every console generation is pretty much always lightning in a bottle so i don't think that's anything new. I'm sure whatever comes after the switch will be like that too. Every console they release gets a successor so they're not really doing anything different from how they've always operated.
Some people might be disappointed that the Switch 2 may not feature any new ideas, but honestly, given the current state of the industry, sticking to what has always works feels like a revolutionary concept in itself these days.
I am one of those people that isn’t exactly enthralled with the design as I was expecting something new, but through more thinking I can realize that this isn’t the worst outcome and is actually good 👍
To be honest, aside from the outer shell, that's what Sony and Microsoft have been doing since the beginning. The same thing but improved in every way, nothing much aside from that. 🤷
This is honestly the first time a switch 2 leak has seemed believable to me. I guess we'll see if it's real whenever the announcement is! (hopefully soon)
On the Switch 2 power discussion (PS4/PS4 Pro) remember Last of Us 2, God of War and Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, and Red Dead Redemption 2 all launched on PS4 and Pro. Those games look as good as if not better than most "next gen" exclusive games.
Switch 2 won't increase the frame rates of Switch 1 games. So if you want Bayonetta 3 to run better, you'll have to wait until it gets remastered, but you'll have to re-buy the game again.
It's not about frame rate improving from 30 to 60, because yeah that won't happen without "remaster"/special update It is about more powerful cpu and GPU so places where like Korok Forest in BoTW where Switch stuttered because of a lot characters that were there won't be a problem on a Switch 2
@@mrowa_wn that would only be the case if Switch 2 uses its full horsepower during backwards compatibility, but I don't think so. If backwards compatibility is handled the way it was on previous Nintendo consoles, then it would just run the games in a Switch 1 mode which would use a built-in Switch 1 hardware like 3DS' DS mode or Wii U's vWii, which means zero changes to frame rate and resolution with the only changes being faster load times and/or more/less input lag.

I think the chonky joy-con eject button is actually a lever that will push a pin on the top of the inside of the joy-con (the little circles on the top at ~8:20) to tilt the entire thing, separating the magnets (on the bottom) away from the system body enough to make them easier to detach.

You know, I’m curious if Nintendo is going to offer a version of the Switch 2 with a Dock and without a Dock, considering how the Switch OLED Dock was already future-proofed by having the capability to output up to a 4K signal from what I remember. So, maybe they figure enough people have Docks to where they could offer versions with and without one. It could make the price more appealing too, but I guess we’ll see what their plan is with that.
You'd think that was true due to all the wear and tear. Not sure why itd be so scratched otherwise. Its certainly not new off the production line, if its real at all.
This seems highly unlikely to me. If it were an early prototype it would be much less likely to leak since prototypes would have much more limited numbers being produced. A limited production of prototypes would also significantly endanger a leaker compared to mass production. Additionally, a full console would not need to be produced to test the vast majority of things that would be tested during a prototype. For example, there's no need to house the SOC in a functioning prototype to properly know it's power. Similarly, you wouldn't need to produce the joycons to understand the thermal impact of them being connected to the system. Likewise, the rails and the connection system could be easily tested using a paperweight instead of the switch 2 main body. That leads to there only being 3 main possibilities. 1. This is an extremely late-stage prototype 2. This is a main mass production unit 3. The leak is entirely fake.
I think the one that did the CAD mock-ups didnt know exactly what the top of the system looked like as it is literally exactly the same as the OLED but with a USB-C port shoved between the exhaust and the headphone jack.
If the rest of it is to be believed it would make sense that the top of the system would look like the OLED model considering the rest of it looks like the OLED model was the design they iterated on.
I really, really hope it's real because that's what I want, a beefier switch that doesn't stutter as much as the current model and if it includes retrocompatibility we have a PS2 tier success in our hands
I don't think you realize the shear leap the switch 2 is going to have. Graphics wise, especially in handheld, is going to be more massive than you think. Especially with it probably going to have dlss support as well.
Nintendo seems to love playing the long game and be behind in technology just to give us a really good console handheld (honestly, they probably realized they don't need a "home console" anymore, and can stick to a hybrid console without problems, and their consoles being a handheld gives them excuses for being slow in tech)
@@mariotheundyingActually the Switch 2 is the first Nintendo console since the Gamecube that competes in power. They didn't liked the Steam Deck (which is a Linux portable PC) running Switch games.
I’ll bet the top port might be usable for charging, but will more likely be intended as an accessory port. It’ll be used to connect things like headsets, cameras, or some gimmick ad on. Possibly if there is any chance of the rumors that there will be dual screen gameplay being true it will use that port to do it wired instead of wirelessly. Maybe even have a second screen you could attach for a more DS like experience.
It'll punch higher than PS4/PS4 Pro when undocked/docked because it's capable of DLSS. DLSS isn't automatic though, devs will have to implement it into their game engine but that's not too hard. I'm sure we'll see many games using it.
I have a 3D model of the Switch posted on my deviantart profile from May 2015 (it was still called NX). Pictures of test hardware were shown to me the day before and I rushed to make a 3D model based on memory bcs I was sure the pictures would have reached the internet soon after that day, but that never happened as far as I know.
The most convincing detail to me is the second USB-C on the top. It solves a practical problem with the Switch, which hasn’t been a big discussion point. But it’s also a pretty boring feature. It doesn’t seem like something a hoaxer would think to fake, again because it’s boring.
there have been multiple real console leaks. the OG Xbox leaked on a german TV show on NBC called Giga. a guy from the official Xbox Magazine opened up a random page on camera and the system was shown on there. the reveal was planned for a week later. the PS3 Slim leaked a month before reveal. the Switch Lite leaked the exact same way the Switch 2 leaked. with an unassembled shell. the PS4 Slim leaked so hard, people had it at home and filmed it before reveal. the PS5 Pro leaked just recently, with a full real design that turned out to be correct.
Yeah that seems like the part that wouldn't make sense. I thought the joycons were already the maximum size for kiddie hands, though they were admittedly cramped to use individually. This leaked design looks like it might have one of your thumbs uncomfortably reaching over.
Considering they are in fact real I’d like to say I’m kinda happy with what we got here. It’s a stronger and bigger switch, that’s all I wanted from a Switch 2. What’s gonna sell this console are the amazing games that are gonna push the new console to its limits with gorgeous visuals and great gameplay, that’s what sells Nintendo consoles people tend to forget that

That names the console. Because if you want to have more than 3 games available at a time, you have to SWITCH between SD cards. Man, I still think the switch (specially Lite) is the best portable out there, but as a beefy and powerful console it really is a joke.

If real, I absolutely PRAY that the top-facing USB-C port can be used for a) local LAN system-to-system connection, and b) providing the potential to play some games in local multiplayer with only one cartridge required. That said, I think the biggest make-or-break deal for the system will be if they decided to upgrade the analog sticks, ideally to Hall Effect sticks or something similar. Personally, I'm of the opinion that they might end up making old Joy-Cons forwards-compatible, (maybe with the help of a special rail to make up for the lack of magnets) but if they do that *while *not** also addressing the potential for drift in the *new* Joy-Cons, that'd be a giant fumble. Not as bad as a $700 price tag, but there would definitely still be a big public outcry that would stink up the hype of the official reveal.
I don't want that to happen, but I cannot think of a time Nintendo has named their console "2." Hopefully it's something straight forward and not kiddish like Switch Lite or Switch OLED. That's all they need to do.
If im not wrong the development unit of the switch leaked a few days before the release but went mostly ignored, only after the reveal they started spreading
The Switch 2 will probably be better than the PS4 Pro in practice. The PS4 Pro probably has a better GPU, but it's bottle necked by not having flash storage and less RAM. Not to mention upscaling has gotten way more advanced since 2016.
If they're still with nvidia then one of the biggest selling points for this would be DLSS. I think DLSS has been a double-edged sword for developers since now they don't focus much on optimizing the games, but a for a weaker handheld this could be the last boost to reach 60fps for some games

It's kind of bittersweet, like crossing the finish line on rainbow road; the long journey coming to an end. Part of me wants it to just keep going. Behind the anticipation of whats to come, I know I'm going to miss these times. And the Switch will always be the little console that could
My persona theory is that this system will be compatible with the dock we have now, thats why it's the same thickness, and the mechanism at the charging port is the same between the two
It is supposedd to have 12 gb of RAM as apposed to the 4 gb of the switch... Thats 3x... While this doesnt make graphics processing stronger, all those people experiencing clutter stutter on ACNH have lots to look forward to
It would also solve a lot of the insane things they had to do to fit in memory, like the aggressive loading and unloading of in-world objects and swapping out worse textures. BOTW and TOTK suffered from these a lot. Those parts do not look like 3D prints, they're what's known as "first shots"; rough plastic parts that are produced during tool development while the mold is being tested and debugged. The reason the surface is so scuffed is because the final step of tooling is to polish the molds.
Tank you for teaching us Sensei! ( I was interested why they look so rough )
Austin: I know next to nothing about this kind of production, but based on that description it sounds like that might be somewhat of an exclusive thing to be in the same room as, which raises questions about why someone who would leak this was let in the room with it, and how they were able to just take a picture of it unnoticed. What I'm learning from this comment section is that Nintendo fans don't know how magnets work. It hurts me that this comment needed to exist.

“Switch 2” is all it needs to be. A more powerful console thats backwards compatible. Id like to be able to play Bayonetta 3 without the fps tanking
Nah, I just want to be able to play Animal Crossing without the fps tanking cuz of all my shit everywhere
Switch 2 won't increase the frame rates of Switch 1 games. So if you want Bayonetta 3 to run better, you'll have to wait until it gets remastered, but you'll have to re-buy the game again.
It's not about frame rate improving from 30 to 60, because yeah that won't happen without "remaster"/special update
It is about more powerful cpu and GPU so places where like Korok Forest in BoTW where Switch stuttered because of a lot characters that were there won't be a problem on a Switch 2

Yeah, I could play BOTW with joycons but not Smash Bros. The fast repeated button presses genuinely hurt, not to mention the small joysticks felt like I was gonna break them off. My two pro controllers have served me well in that regard!
Still no decent ergonomics for large hands, though, with the controllers being so thin and the buttons being so close to the edge of the console. Nintendo really seems to think that was good as is.

I hope the specs are legit because they are insanely good. PS4 tier handheld and around PS4 Pro docked, *before* DLSS!

@@ViovelYes, maybe Baldur's Gate 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 because Nintendo doesn't like the Steam Deck running Switch games.
It's most likely an early prototype
You'd think that was true due to all the wear and tear. Not sure why itd be so scratched otherwise. Its certainly not new off the production line, if its real at all.
Prototype from around 6 months ago i think

@coocolal3644 yeah, but all of the controls are being used in the game and it’ll also just make it confusing
If it ain't broke don't fix it. We just need the hall effect joysticks and more power under the hood. 😊
Nintendo will never use hall effect joysticks. Not even the steamdeck has it.
It’s unfortunate that it is a carbon copy. I just hope that we can be more creative with the Ui and overall menus. And hopefully some menu music.
just want something unique like miiverse again 🥺 I miss when nintendo OS had character
praying they give us the oled screen immediately
oh if we can just pay 50 bucks more to have oled screen, that would be perfect
It would probably be closer to 100 dollars tho
The Switch 2 will probably be better than the PS4 Pro in practice. The PS4 Pro probably has a better GPU, but it's bottle necked by not having flash storage and less RAM. Not to mention upscaling has gotten way more advanced since 2016.
If they're still with nvidia then one of the biggest selling points for this would be DLSS. I think DLSS has been a double-edged sword for developers since now they don't focus much on optimizing the games, but a for a weaker handheld this could be the last boost to reach 60fps for some games
I think this is too safe to be real.
The New Super Nintendo Switch Lite Pro Deluxe Oled Edition XL looks like The Nintendo Switch with more buttons.
As someone who has already looked at these leaks I dooooon't think you should put them in the thumbnail????
Just in case another person wants to NOT see it before it gets officially revealed
right?? no offense to arlo but like im thinking if you think the leak is real the last thing youd want is nintendo rep seeing their leaked console in your thumbnail :sob:
@@soupahmario5869 i dont get why it's a tablet that plays video games it's not like he's showing the final boss of the new 3d mario. the games havent been leaked and those are what matter the most in the end
Atleast if it gets taken down it’ll undoubtedly prove it is real
@@mrrowwmeoww A spoiler is a spoiler. No matter how minor YOU think it is you don't want to be THAT "yeah but solid snake" guy to someome else
“I think I do prefer thicker” - Arlo, 2024
I feel you Arlo, I feel you
Weirdly I'm starting to feel a little sad that the original Switch's time is almost over. I know that doesnt mean you gotta stop playing it, or that all switches are going to shut down or anything. And of course it's time to catch up on the resolution and power outputs required for modern TVs and games. I am sure the next nintendo will also be awesome. But the Switch is just an amazing console and thinking back over the past 8 years, it had an incredible one of a kind run. It's kind of bittersweet, like crossing the finish line on rainbow road; the long journey coming to an end. Part of me wants it to just keep going. Behind the anticipation of whats to come, I know I'm going to miss these times. And the Switch will always be the little console that could
My persona theory is that this system will be compatible with the dock we have now, thats why it's the same thickness, and the mechanism at the charging port is the same between the two
persona theory lmao
persona theory?
oh. it took me too long to realize it was just a typo lmao
arlo: just give switch its last holiday, if you reveal the new one, no one will buy switch
also arlo: gimme now
It is supposedd to have 12 gb of RAM as apposed to the 4 gb of the switch... Thats 3x... While this doesnt make graphics processing stronger, all those people experiencing clutter stutter on ACNH have lots to look forward to
It will improve the graphics by allowing for higher quality textures.
It would also solve a lot of the insane things they had to do to fit in memory, like the aggressive loading and unloading of in-world objects and swapping out worse textures. BOTW and TOTK suffered from these a lot. But I think to take advantage of the increased memory, the games would have to be updated (with some significant work involved) which makes me doubt we'll get an update. We might get one for TOTK if we're lucky and they actually developed the game with the switch 2 in mind.
@@rhoharane botw had to be designed to run on the wii u lmao
