  • Zach reviews the Spot Hogg Triple Stack after using it in the Fast Eddie Platform for over a year. Zach was able to use the sight on his Mathews Traverse across 4 states and for 4 different species this past fall, along with a full year of 3D shooting with it.
Is it the best sight currently on the market?

Isn’t it the case that the 3 pointers are on at only the initial distance set. Those gaps don’t apply once you move the sight because the arrow deceleration is not linear. The gaps get bigger as the distance gets longer. Your set up gives you a quick hunting reference at 20, 30 and 40 so you don’t have to dial those distances. Once you dial the sight, the only pointer that is accurate to the tape is the pointer you used to set the tape (often people use the bottom one). That’s my understanding at least.

The pointers are still accurate at distance because the sight tape accounts for the non-linear deceleration of the arrow.
For example like you said my baseline hunting distance setup is 20/30/40 but if I move my sight and the bottom pin is now 100 yards, my pins are then 83/92/100. So the indicators are still accurate at long distances because all 3 pointers account for the deceleration of the arrow, my yardage gap between pins has just decreased.

Are sight tapes calibrated from 15 vs 20 yards?

Sight tapes are calibrated at 20 and 60 yards. You’ll find your 20, place the sight in tape on the wheel and then find your tape number based on where 60 lands

Sure. I’ve got an HHA single pin slider that uses the same method. Presently I’m using a fixed pin sight with my pins set at 15 and 25 yards. There’s less room for error with this calibration. It sounds like I may have to use a blank tape and just mark it for my set-up if I decide to go with a different sight.

For me the vertical post design blocks some of the target. I was using a borrowed one to test it before buying one. I was shooting 3-d targets in a fairly heavily wooded forest. The post between the pins was causing me some trouble on getting the pin dot exactly where I wanted it. It blocked the ability to reference on the animal target. Out in the sunlight it was slightly better for some reason. I vote no and would not waste my money on one. I bought a CBE 3-pin slider. Better quality all the way. AND EACH PIN IS ADJUSTABLE. WINNER!

Better quality? Lol Come on- your entire post is not bull and void. I own them both, and it is not even comparable.

Spot Hogg makes the clunkiest and most poorly engineered sights in that price range. Literally any one of the other big names would be a better choice, but well done video brother. Respect. At least you're giving your opinion based on experience, unlike the forum clowns that never laid a finger on one but "highly recommend" them.
