People: the show is entitled Flipping Out. Of course Jeff is outrageous and unable at times to control his temper and laughs inappropriately and fires people a lot. That's what has made the show successful for so many years. That and the fact that he's very talented. I have enjoyed every single episode and have watched some of them multiple times. Jenny did have a choice all along. She had her own demons that drove her to remain in an environment that ... apparently ... was unhealthy for her. That's her own issue not Jeff's. I would sign any petition to keep Jeff on tv because I believe that beneath his fragile nerves lies a heart of gold.

Caring about someone who can be difficult is tricky. You think you are fine and can handle this persons behavior. But your heart is like an old piece of graph paper (temember, with the little squares?) You go along thinking you are the emotionally stronger person and you love them, but everytime time you get hurt, one of those little squares gets blacked out and one day, you come to the end of the page and the last little square is blacked out and you feel DONE. You may be jusr as surprised as the person you are dealing with because you really aren't aware of the inner workings of your heart and soul until it's too late. This may have bern what happened to Jenni. Personally, I may have just quit and remained friends

Now he is better in touch with himself, he knows he's a narcissist and that's huge. Most people aren't man enough to admit their faults.
I haven't watched last season yet so I don't know what happened to Jeni but some many people want more and that's really sad to throw everything that you have a way especially to loose a friendship.

  • @thepoptarte
    @thepoptarte 5 років тому +13

I was in a 20 year friendship with a guy very similar to Jeff. First we were friends and then he became my boss. He said things to me that no boss should ever say to an employee--but it was completely up to him to determine when we were "best friends" or when he was speaking to me as my "superior" (truly hilarious!). Anyway, Just because Jenni didn't always tell Jeff exactly how she was feeling didn't mean she wasn't feeling that way. In a "friendship" where one person has any sort of power over the other one--you have to be careful. Sometimes I thought I was joking with my FRIEND only to have him pull the BOSS card and then we would have a problem. After a while it's just easier not to say anything and tell him what he wants to hear. Placating someone 24/7 is no kind of friendship. Ours ended with him getting angry about an article I emailed him that I thought he would be interested in (we weren't working together any more because the company had gone out of business)--it wasn't political or anything (this was long before the era of Trump)--and he just went off. He sent me an email so long, so epic that I swear it must have been pre-written because I know he couldn't type that fast! And with that, I was done. No drama, no tears. Just done and I have never looked back. He spent YEARS calling/emailing me and even had his wife reach out and there was just nothing there. For 5-6 years I would come home from my parent's house on Christmas night to these long, weepy voice mails from him and I just felt nothing. Watching "Flipping Out" makes me grateful that the whole thing is over. Everything ends at some point.

Dancing around someone's ever changing, unpredictable moods is no way to live. Congrats!

The lesson here is not to mix friendships with work they should always be seperate. Also there two sides to a story. Friends have asked me to work for them in the past or partner up in a business together and I always decline because I know my work ethic personality is different to when I am with friends and family and I dont want to risk those relationships. I am always supprised when people work for friends or family without knowing their work ethics / personality traits. You can clearly see that 'work' Jeff is different to 'social' Jeff and Jenni has known this for 16 years how can she now just be complaining?

I have watched Flipping Out since Season One, Ep. 1 and loved the show until it took a terrible turn when he fired Zola and I still watched because of Jenni. Everyone he supposedly loved are gone, there is no one left. Some of his Employees that left on their own were miserable and what good you did was never good enough! Everyone who faults Jeff because of his temprament is missing the point, no one is forced to work for him. The reason I watch this show is because eventually the the wolves always reveal themselves and its a learning experience for those who have their own business.
The People pretending to be his best or good friend eventually backstabbed him, by either snooping in his home (Jenni's ex) stealing his clients when the economy went down hill (Jeff's ex who Jeff made rich) and slandering his name (Jenni).
I realised Jenni was a fraud when she pulled that stunt to ask a prospective client to use their holiday home for her honeymoon getaway behind Jeff's back then blatantly denied it but the evidence that she told her family not to say anything to Jeff is on camera. Jenni is very good at playing the victim and Jeff is gullible in playing into it, she loves it, it plays into the narrative she wants to take advantage of to build her case. Once users have no use for you they spit you out.
Jeff tends to respond in anger but I would prefer to work for a temperamental person than a pathalogical liar who could stab you in the back at any given time!
If I were you Jeff forgive her and move on you can't trust her, you can never trust someone who uses your weaknesses (e.g. temperament) to deceive the public.

Jeff is a great designer and I love his sense of humor. Having said that he is the most difficult person to work with. All his long term employees have left him. He has a tendency of driving people he really likes away. His cutting type of sense of humor doesn't work in long term relationship. It just doesn't. He is talking about Jenni as if she was one of the employees. She wasn't. She and her ex husband started the show with Jeff. She has a mansion, a wonderful husband and two kids and financially she doesn't need the show but he is being disingenuous when he comparing her to one of the employees. They were friends. Lastly, as much as I like Gage, his day will come with Jeff. Jeff will push him to such a point that he wont be able to continue with Jeff. Just wait. I think Jeff nailed it when he said it's too bad they didn't just have it where they were friends and he went over her house for dinner, etc. instead of pretending they had a good working relationship. I love Flipping Out, but it seems to be on at odd times. Sometimes I can catch a few episodes and then a few seasons go by. It must be me. I like watching Jeff and he does have a great sense of design. He also is a type A personality which works well for a show. Although I'm not sure if I could handle working for him, but he'd make a fun friend. Plus, in all honesty it is inspirational to see a gay guy from my era find love & create a good life for himself. Seriously, in the big metropolitan areas that is a tough thing for gay guys to do in that there's so many people with drug problems or who turn out to be crazy.

If Jeff has forgiven Jenny, he wouldn't have continue to talk about this, any longer. Yes, he's hurt.
But for Jeff, demanding and ego, while treating folks like he does.
Look at the constant change overs in employees. Yes again Jenny has stood by most of the bull sh't, compromising who she is for a paycheck or to seems to be loyal. Jenny and Jeff are friends, this is a step back from their friendship to heal and forgive. Each go on to paved their own paths and grow.
God allow Jenny to expressed her, and she shouldn't be guilty of saying her truth. She shouldn't be hiding, just hold your head high and keep on pushing.
For Jeff, changes are needed, look into self and reflect why Jenny do or say what she said. Especially if she has been with your show for years and season's? It like Ms. Zoila all over again, in my opinion, she was not treated fairly. Despite the material and cosmetic surgery/works, that is not how you treat someone and expect loyalty.
I pray all the differences can be mended.

I don't like Jenni on this season. He loves to instigate arguments between Jeff and his other employees. If Jeff is already arguing with one of his employees, Jenni would make it worse. She would join conversations that had nothing to do with her and she would make the situation worse. At one point Jeff was talking to the project manager and she butted into the conversation and turned the conversation into an argument.

As a viewer from the beginning, it does suck A LOT but I have to say, this season it was so clear Jenni seemed to be outgrowing the show, a little holier than thou, like she’d outlived it & was too good for it. So this news was not as shocking to me. You can see she’s not really the same character as this season unfolds; like too mature for the shenanigans/checked out.
I love you Jeff & understand your frustration & that this comes from a place of hurt but it’s not worth rehashing over & over & esp going off on Jenni publicly if you truly think there’s any chance of repair in the future. This only adds public humiliation & comes from a place of ego. This anger will subside. The need for public explanation feels like it’s only vital to serve yourself. Take the high road. Talk to your therapist; someone separate from the situation, work thru it & time will be your friend.
I hope the show goes on because I’ll be sad if it ends over this. And I will add, I’m glad we’re seeing a lot more design process & actual befores/progress/afters of your projects because last season was way more office relationship oriented & I was feeling annoyed by not seeing your work & progress on the show. This season has been a much better balance!

What Jeff is forgetting is that the article written was that the interview that Jenni had done that created this article, was probably done months ago, when Jenni was really hurt. Therefore, some common sense from Jeff needs to surface and be somewhat logical as he appears to have a great deal of business logic, and will need to try to let go of his anger. In a lot of cases anger can cause a person to make a bad personal and or business decision. If the above doesn’t work, remember the children in both of your lives...do either parties do not want to be in one another’s children lives any longer?????

Maybe you didn’t mean it that way but that’s what came out of your mouth. It hurt your audience because we have been so committed to this show believing what we were watching and now we don’t know what to believe. I understand it’s a real business and it’s your real life but I now don’t understand who really works there and what parts are genuine.
