We got our Solar City solar system in 2017. 3 Kw = 10 300W Trina solar panels. The first couple of years, we would could go over 19kwh/day during the peak months. After that it became progressively rarer, and now seems to have settled into occasionally going over 17kwh. No cleaning, like you. Sacramento area. While the tree to the SE is growing, I think it is a minor early morning player. I’ve chalked this up to mostly solar panel degradation. We have done no maintenance on the system. It is a power purchase arrangement.
Did you ask them when their new switch that allows power share to work so we can use vehicles to back feed (v2h) the power wall for blackouts? I heard that it was coming out by the end of the year.
We have 31 Q-Cell panels rated at 12.5 kWh with 31 Enphase IQ8A Inverters controlled by a Combiner IQ 4C. Our installer can install Enphase 5Ps or Power Wall 3's. So these videos are a great help. Am leaning towards the 5P's because of their Inverters. The PW3 have great specs but am fearful of losing an entire battery due to Inverter failure. Should I be concerned?
I mean, anything can fail, including the Enphase stuff. Tesla has a 10 year warranty. My system has Enphase micro-inverters as well, which have been running for 10 years now, integrated just fine BTW.
I have a 5.3 kW system with 16 panels, 327 watts per panel. I was told that two Tesla power walls will never get charged up with that little of kilowatt output. Have you been able to fully charge both Tesla power walls after using them at night I suspect, since you have a Tesla vehicle? Then recharging them with your panels the next day? it seems like you may have overbought battery storage capacity if your panels cannot fully charge those power walls. What say you?
Right now with mild weather I’m charging to 100% during the day with solar and on battery from late afternoon through dawn. Of course you can’t charge your Tesla in this scenario. 2 Powerwalls are 27kwh and your car is over 60kwh

Only need to be 6 inches an apart wonder why they did such a space between. I think prices have gone up or Tesla sales it for more to their approved installers. It cost 13k just for the equipment of the Tesla 3 and the gateway. Or their prices have gone up
Wow! I'm in the midst of the same process and I'm out $32K for the same two PWs. although the Gateway is different. I went through Tesla and they farmed it out. Installation coming up midweek. Seems like a ripoff to have to pay $10K more when Tesla could have done it themselves. Oh well...
You had existing solar, which means you had an existing inverter. My understanding is that PW3's have an inverter built-in, vs the PW2 that didn't. Did the PW3 replace your inverter or do they have some ability to not use or remove the PW3 inverter? Curious because I'm considering a PW and have existing solar with a solarEdge inverter (installed by Tesla). Nice vid! Thanks!
Cool vid. I just got a solar system and 2x Powerwall 3's put in myself. I've been checking the app like I've got OCD its open so much. Nice to see the itemized invoice. I live in Texas and my local solar company added 2x Powerwalls and the Backup gateway 3 for $16K. No additional itemized fees. My local energy delivery company, Oncor, also has a PVV incentive that is supposed to net me an additional $8K back, along with the added 30% Fed. tax credit. So all in all, the 2x Powerwalls only cost me $3.2K.

We finally got our 8kW system installed today but PW3 is still on order. When i was quoted, adding the PW3 was $5600 more, that was a no brainer for me.

I am looking to get the Tesla Powerwall 3 and my Solar Panels are by Sunpower. So I was so surprised to see that Sunpower supported or Tesla supported the Tesla Powerwall 3 to my setup and I have a video call going tomorrow to get more information. If you don't mind who makes your Solar Panels? I really appreciate your detail with the bill at the end of the video. One concern I am been thinking of is how long there batteries will last. I live in Upland CA and we have had a couple power interruptions by SCE and was thinking this might be a good backup for the home. Thanks again for your work on this video.
My solar panels are Solarworld with Enphase Microinverters and were installed in 2014. The Powerwall 3's have a 10 year warranty, and the new ones are the LFP variety, which are crazy durable. I suggest you contact Tesla directly, they were amazing to work with and undercut everyone's pricing. Tesla's installation workmanship was exceptional, took under 5 minutes for the county inspector (compared with our neighbors 'Franklin' branded installation that failed inspection, requiring multiple visits. As for a back up, it's pretty awesome, we already had one, our house was fully running, while are neighbors sat in the dark.
My 2 cent . Power wall is useless concept unless you have often power outage or solid reason for storage . Otherwise this is absolutely waste of money . I have Tesla solar & 2 Tesla car. It’s personal choice anyway.
@@PeaceFORever- Just one power outage of several days where the temperature is below 0 degrees with a few feet of snow and ice where you can't leave your home and your family is freezing inside of the home without power might get you to think differently.

Is your PW3 AC or DC coupled? Did they install the collar/transfer switch on your power meter?

Hi, hey have you used them in an outage? How much time can they work using a central AC?
Did a quick test. House running normally with AC for 1 hour. It used 15% late in the day with minimal solar coming in.

Was there a reason for the gap distance between the powerwalls?
Needs to be 3 feet from everything, vents, other Powerwalls, windows etc. If we want a 3rd one at some point, it would need to go in the garage.
