Do you tun your foot when you jab
@Tony_Jeffries make a video about Nate Diaz's boxing, please ;)
@Tony_Jeffries Hello I'm new to your channel. Really enjoying the content. My Dad & Grandfather got me into watching boxing. My Grandfather did it when he was in WWII and his good friend was once Welterweight champion of Canada by the name of George "Rockabye" Ross. All the best with your channel and keep up the great work. I would like to add a question hopefully it's not a dumb one. I was wondering is it always important to pronate your punches when you throw them ? I seem to recall my Grandfather telling me that when he showed me how to use the Heavy bag or am I wrong ?
Sir I'm from India I participated in a boxing tournament . I'm learning from your videos❤
yo coach , i just watched your fight against Matt Hainy and it was a masterclass, the way you sliped his hook was crazy, boxing needs people like you in the game
Lennox had alot of success with his jab because he kept his hand extended halfway between him and his opponent so it only needed to travel half the distance. He explained it himself in a video on UA-cam.
Yeah I remember that. I think he was showing it to wilder in one of his videos
@@jimmybaldwin737 yeah it was Deontay! Too bad he never utilized it.
and Tony explained it exactly the same way.
hey, bro out of context question but does punching in solar plexus safe or is there any fatal harm to the guy getting punched?
@@randumbguy7965with glove on you’re not killing anybody with that
I like that you mentioned Lenox Lewis' jab. First time I watched him box,I noticed his jab. It seemed so effortless every time he threw one, like it was as natural as breathing. Thanks Tony!
Totally agree!
Well Emmanuel Steward was a big part of Lewis relying on that later in his career.
Larry Holmes had the best jab
I think the one and only channel in which we learn :
1. Boxing
2. Self Defense
3. Physical Fitness
4. Confidence Building
All the best good luck Tony 😊👍
You are the first coach I've heard that landing the jab on the forehead, to show the judge and frustrating our opponent. I have thought about why not doing it? But I never really do because around me their is no one do it. I think this really makes sense. Anyhow jab is not for knocking out, by this way, rather than hitting the chin, we can make our jab have more functions.
There is a risk of fracturing the hand.
I love your passion for the sport Tony. I train kickboxing but I've recently started taking boxing lessons in the same gym because of you. Great content as always🏆
I take a lot of inspiration from guys like Sonny Liston and Sugar Ray throwing their jabs
Thanks for the comment mate, and keep it up!
As someone who is only just now learning the true art form of throwing punches, you are a lifesaver bro! You confirmed a lot of my suspicions about how the jab works mechanically
Very grateful for the video package Tony, thanks! The timing was perfect, I just started training
Ty so much Tony. I’ve been watching you since the beginning of the year when I first started boxing and all your videos have helped me with my foundation and improvement of the sweet science. One day I wish to meet you 🙏🏾
From someone that loves boxing but knows bugger all about the intricacies of it that was excellent mate, easy to understand and you got on with it without waffling, great work son👍🏻
Hey mate, always enjoy your videos, you don’t take yourself serious, take the piss a bit, always good to watch.
For me, Marvelous Marvin Hagler had a beautiful easy jab, plus he was an absolute monster.
Not boxed for 31 years and now in my fifties but still skip and do the heavy bag and your videos confirm that I generally did everything the right way and still retain the good habits.
So cheers for that brother.
Peace, love, and keep on keepin’ on. X
Tony is the best one that explains boxing on UA-cam ... very engaging and entertaining at the same time. I rarely watch videos from start to finish but Tony cured my ADHD lol
Thank you for the great boxing videos. This plus coaching at my luck gym is really helping me to improve. Both work together.
One of your best videos! You got every item. fantastic!
Great tips. It’s really about making a solid foundation off of basic principles.
These are the basic principles for a great habit but it varies on a person’s technique, style, and skillset.
This is superb implementation but there are great boxers who can push a jab through without focusing too much on speed, then again it’s as I stated earlier about how it varies.
Excellent video
A spectacular video Tony!✊
Thank you for the free video package
Another thing about the forehead jab, when their forehead flies back the chin goes up. Wouldn’t a right hook to the chin be the perfect follow up? Especially if you’d set it up with [forehead jab -> body straight right] twice and then the [forehead jab -> right hook to the chin]
Depends on the guard being used. And you also not using that jab to the forehead multiple times. If not, ur opponent gonna be prepared for it and counter u while taking a "Harmless" jab to forehead.
Naoya Inoue arguably has the best jab in boxing right now. It's like a pistol. Quick, sharp and powerful. So whenever I see other top fighters today that don't have a great jab like Inoue, I feel like they are not that superior.
ggg still got it
Really excellent breakdown, thanks Tony.
Printing out my boxing checklist and filling it in tonight! Excited to use this video to help me assess my jab. And I’ll be honest 😢
Hands down best Boxing channel on UA-cam 💯💯💯💯
I love your videos please continue I progress day by day thanks to you.
I've found a lot of success with switching up the position my wrist is in/ the angle the jab comes from.
Ie. switching between knuckles facing up, down, outwards - flicking up-jabs, "turning the door knob".
Makes the jab more unpredictable and much easier to land.
Bro what about jabbing with your index and middle knuckles to make the punch more sharp and painful. I am not really sure. Something i found out??
@@thomashalm8585 Landing the jab with your index and middle knuckles will definitely make the punch more powerful, ideally, but a fight is never an ideal scenario.
Power isn't always that important in a jab, either. I'd rather land 3-5 quick jabs than one big one.
Varying your jab makes it harder to predict, paving the way for heavier shots to land.
Wow, I appreciate the way you explain!
Much respect to you, sir. Can you do a video on guard manipulation, please?
Great video Tony. Top shelf. From Ireland ☘️
Wow I didnt think of the top of the head thing. So many benefits!! Knock head back, score points, disorientation, disrupt vision...
Much respect to you, you teach me so much!💪🏾
Appreciate it mate
Thanks for these awesome tips. I train many martial arts and boxing is one of them. Greetings from Finland
Thanks Tony this I didn’t know before!
More top quality content, thank you.
This channel makes you learn,
The fact I already unconsciously did these baffles me this guy just described my fighting style
this really helped me thanks
Yessss!! Finally some stuff on the century bob. Could you do some sort of hiit or several rounds type training videos? Cheers
Its on my channel mate, you can check it out 🥊 Lots of training videos, you can choose what you want!
video suggestion can you make a video about manipulation of the opponent's guard to open the guard I've never seen a video on you tube about it ,thanks for the knowledge and teaching you are one of the very few channels on you tube that is really worth watching ,I especially liked the jab to the forehead tip and I had never seen another coach talk about it
great video, all successful boxers had great jabs, sonny liston was meant to have a great jab, lennox lewis lined everything up from his jab, proper pugilist, you have great knowledge tony keep up the good work 👍🏻🥊

Great video !
Thank you for the knowledge you have been a great help and still are
Glad to help ma man!
thanks for teaching us
Can you have videos for crawford techniques & style..
Or any analysis on his speed & power, he came from small weight to welterweight
Maybe you could do a video on a powerful body jab. Which was utilized by Inoue against Fulton.
Thanks good jab video
Thanks for teaching us ❤❤
My pleasure 😊 Happy to help mate
Diamond Geezer! 🙌
Thank you ❤
Great video 😀
Thanks sir❤
Really enjoyed hearing your thought process with a tactic somebody utilised against you. Would love to hear more about home fighters got the upperhand on you in fights so I can learn their tactics and get revenge!
Great vid tony, thanks for the knowledge
Thanks tony
YES! THE JAB IS THE HOLY GRAIL!
Thanx Tony
thank you sir
What a bold statement, Tony. Any decent boxing coach teaches everything you mentioned
not so much in multi combat gyms though.
MMA, and lesser knowledgeable striking coaches don't teach the same basics in the jab and it shows.
If you young ones wanna lick up pure boxing knowledge, my advice would be to swerve the multi combat gym and focus purely on boxing.
it really is the best technique.
A lot of amateur coaches teach the conventional boxing wisdom of keeping both hands at home by your face and do not teach the long guard
Not really. Not this in depth
This guy 'Ton' is the best coach outthere
This is stuff that seems like it would take years to learn without this specific video
Another good thing you should learn it’s turning your fist when you jab it does more damage when you twist then when you just throw a jab my coaches taught me that good video though there’s alit of things I didn’t know about the jab
You are the best 👍
thanks bro
Btw that crossover from Pacquiao at 4:22 was a beauty. I mean that shit was epic.
Excellent Episode 👍
Appreciate it mate,
Speaking of keeping your base, Foreman had a jab that was like a lion pawing at prey, cat fast but with every ounce of bodyweight behind it, never off balance. His jabs were where other fighters' power punches started
I was just a lad working the heavy bag and a guy watched me and walked up and showed me how to Jab - he was the cousin of Lionel Rose - I never forgot what he showed me
Awesome!! Thanks for the video Tony!
Sir, there are many people out there who says for these do these exercises , but no one has ever told that if you wanted t obecome a fighter these are the exercises you need to do everyday there is no where a plan, MOnday - this, tuesday - this, Wednesday - this etc.., it will be a great help if you can provide us a plan of what to do every single day.
I do 10 push ups 30 seconds straight punches shadowboxing w 2kg weights 60 secs rest then back to it
5 sets if u can't do the push ups hold them n take ur time then after lat raises
Fc from Thailand ❤️❤️
Thanks for sub
Awesome man thanks😊
Glad you liked it Mark!
@@Tony_Jeffries for sure keep up the good work
Good one
I kinda understand what you mean about power and speed but physics would say F=MA squared. Force = mass × acceleration or speed. You'd think the added distance would create extra speed, thereby creating an increase in power. Makes sense when it comes to strategy, for sure. Better to land it 9 times out of 10 than to exert more power and land less.

Im glad he's talking about Pacquiao 🎉
🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Tony can you talk about the screat of naoya inoue power and domination in boxing please
Tony- question- When I was a Marine I blown off a rooftop by an RPG I was also shot. I have a nerve deficit in my right ankle from damage to my spine. In basic I can not do toe raises because the nerves just aren't getting the message. I have a home gym now and I box with a heavy bag a lot but I can't do the footwork. I know this is a long shot but off the top of your head can you think of or demonstrate some movement for those of us with war injuries or strategy for those of us who can't move the same anymore? Thanks man you are truly inspiring and a great ambassador for the sport.
Tony is now talking about how to throw the perfect jab
Thank you sir 🫡
Sonny Liston is the only Boxer I know of who could knock you out with his jab. I believe if I recall correctly it was because he jabbed with his dominant hand, add on his ridiculous 84in reach on a 6ft framed body and you can just imagine how massive his leverage with that jab was, while also being highly unorthodox at the same time.
Super.
I like how tate describe that jabs is like your machine gun and your hook is your sniper. You need to gunning em jabs and took some good sniping in between them.
Hi Tony, when I throw a hook I regularly hurt around the thumb region. I try to keep thumb away from fist but still manage to hurt my hand. Reluctant to throw a hook. Any advice?
How to add more power in poonches?
What about Jack Dempsey's "lead jolt" - as opposed to lead jab - where he was against jabs (which he pejoratively referred to as tapping, or "painting") and advocated a power lead by using a squared fist combined "shoulder whirl" and with his "drop step" to maximize power and damage? Does it have any place in modern boxing or did it only serve during Dempsey's time and style of boxing for that era?
Hi Tony jeffries what is the perfect jab for boxing
TONY! i saw you on “the blacklist” you should act more my friend.. you’re good
your video on dhar man is amazing! we aren't telling story, we are changing lives!
I like how he says feint
Jeffries i saw ur video about pros and cons about being a pro boxer and my dad is not gonna support me in that and not agreeing with amature boxing what should i do
I'm looking for advice and knowledge. I enjoy sparring and dabbled in boxing when I was younger. However, I have since lost a leg below knee. What can I do to improve footwork with a prosthetic? Do you have knowledge of anyone who could advise me?
I know what I’m about to say has nothing to do with the video but I need some help with boxing
I am a beginner in boxing I have started a month ago when I box I feel my left is stronger especially with the lead hook and sometimes the lead upper cut but I feel more comfortable with my left being my lead hand(using the orthodox stance) should I practice to get used to south paw or continue with orthodox stance
had personal metting with sivolije spoke with him great guy, loves to drink heineken😂
Nice
Hi, what should i fill my boxing bag with???
