Thanks Len,it’s nice to see a repair that’s not too “easy peesy” ,more life like. I’ve got an 8inch wheel puller which at times when necessary has never let me down. I’ve never replaced those type of brake shoes before so thanks again. Love your videos,Lester from Canada
Absolute best on the Web! Now retired after too many years in the trade, (some years ago) this is the best example of a complete integral brake system plus parking shoe overhaul I have seen. Still do my own work when I can, and very pleased I watched this first, as I have never worked on my wife's (mint) 2010 Hyundai Elantra Sport. A most comprehensive repair. I would hire him today! Perhaps anyone non-mechanical watching this will appreciate why their complete brake job left little change from $2000! You get a good idea of the problems the guy doing the work probably had to overcome.
Many "Thanks" for this very informative video, you were the only one that covered The whole procedure of drum brakes.Michael, Southern Ireland.Keep up the Good work.

To the credit of the good, conscientious brake mechanic, I have in the past had the attitude you might at more times than not kind of stretched these jobs. Not now. After doing countless brake jobs on my vehicles, hats off to you guys, your worth more than gold,Lester from Canada (Sorry for giving you a bad rap)
Thank you so much for including the parking break adjustment! I swear this is like the only video that covered it because every other video didn’t bother when the rotor came off easily.
Best explanation of parking brake on UA-cam. Thanks for video. Top notch job. Always thought you would lube ears on pads. Makes sense about debris though.
Excellent video. Thank you very much for explaining in such a detailed way how to change the parking brakes. That helped me a lot and gave me a lot of confidence to do it myself. thank you so much.
Good video of how to replace the ebrake shoe. BUT.... I would have backed off the cable adjustment nut that is under the bottom of the removable panel in the center consul. Most likely it would have relaxed the cable to allow removal of the drum without the torch. That said the entire rear axle is pretty rusty.
Thank God we dont have to deal with all the rust issues people have to deal with in other states, one time I bought a car from out of state that was 3 years old and it had rust everywhere I couldn’t believe a car could rust so much so fast
Great video and good knowledge passed on, One question I had my Parking Brake repaired and the hold really good when parked on a hill up ward but if I park on a hill downward even with a 2 percent grade they do not hold all non existent any Idea as to why ??
I have the exact same issue and i changed everything, new brake shoes, new springs, new disc and pads, cleaned the pivot so it moves freely and adjusted the cable, yet I can still push the car forward when parking brake is engaged
+Highland Minger Thank you for your question! Some aspects like that could be different between vehicle made for the North American market versus ones made for the Asian market. All of the principals should be the same, though!

Went on your website looking for a 2015 ford taurus wheel well splash guard for the passenger side but couldnt find it on A1. Know of any place that will have it?
I found attaching the hold down spring outside of the hub was the best way, attach top return spring to both shoes, then hold down springs, then the bottom spring and finally the adjuster. If you live in the rust belt, then removing the bearing will probably not help as it will be seized to the backing plate and because of the reluctor ring will not be able to be pounded apart. I must say, that whoever designed this system needs a good swift kick in the nuts.
Me too, maybe if the brake fluid has some moisture in it is more compressible so more forgiving. My brake fluid hasn’t been changed in many years. It’s one of the job to do on the list!
I'm replacing the rear pads, rotors and brake shoes. When I install the new brake shoes the rotor will barely fit back on and is hard to turn. I've backed out the adjustment screw all the way and tried removing and reinstalling the brake shoes several times but they are still super tight on both sides. Any idea where I'm going wrong?
"you can use something like a needle nose, or a tool like this one to do the next step" he says at 38:20 , does anybody know what such a tool is called..? thanks.
Just got my girl a 2008 elantra. Its drivers side fender is all dinged up. Cant find a video on how to fix it properly without snapping plastic. Any help is appreciated.
Next time you oil all the brakes shoe inside, then rotate the drum brake to spread all the oils, when all the oil is un the brake shoe it is easy to remove the drum brakes.. Then you can clean all the oils with a brake cleaner or you will replace the brake pads anyways
I did this on my 2010 Kia Forte Koup. Super pain in the azz. Wheel hubs don’t have holes either which made it harder. Also way more springs. I was swearing and yelling at the top of my lungs in my driveway.
I bought my 2008 Elantra new & although it's always been a good car, that "drum built into the rotor" parking brake system is a rotten design. 😕 Incidentally, my Hyundai has 325,000 miles on it & I'm only just now replacing the original, factory rear brake pads. 😮 The front brake pads have been replaced once & still have about 30% life left. 💪🏻 🇺🇸

Probably find it on anther 2015 Ford Taurus! lol
Do you have a video for the 01-06 santa fe?
hi there! is this the same for the 2010 touring models???

Pushing the Piston on the caliper with out opening the bleader will not hurt the abs .I have done it many times

A spring tool. From an auto parts store.
the tins are stainless steel and no lube is needed. by nature, the stainless is slippery, that is why it is used.
+Roy Saxton Thanks for checking us out!
just ran into this problem on a gmc terrain.got the rotor loose and ending up putting a puller on it and it flew off.
Just got my girl a 2008 elantra. Its drivers side fender is all dinged up. Cant find a video on how to fix it properly without snapping plastic. Any help is appreciated.

Are the shoes only on the rear driver side?
Both rear sides.
I see the tool that you used to compress those 2 springs on each side of the shoes is not listed in your "List of tools used". Geez!
I did this on my 2010 Kia Forte Koup. Super pain in the azz. Wheel hubs don’t have holes either which made it harder. Also way more springs. I was swearing and yelling at the top of my lungs in my driveway.
He is straight up not having a good time.
Good job but you left grease on the shoe.
I need to do the same on my KIA car ... it looks very scary and daunting....
It took him all that for the roter ridiculous 🤣🤣
I bought my 2008 Elantra new & although it's always been a good car, that "drum built into the rotor" parking brake system is a rotten design.

THE STRUGGLE IS REAL
He's good, he's really good... But I don't like the use of heat ... There are better ways.
i will never buy a Hyundai Elantra good damn
why didn't you just put the e-brake down inside the car? and how the hell is a 07-10 that rusted out already?!
I live in Minnesota and I have a 2007 Elantra with 340,600 miles on it, and believe me, up here they *can* get that rusty.
Pung pung pung haha funny
I hate hyundai break jobs
Did he say his name was Vlad?
