- 4th movement of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No.1. performed by Iván Fischer
(conductor) and the Budapest Festival Orchestra at the Budapest Mahlerfest
in September, 2011, in the Palace of Arts
Maestro Fischer is certainly one of the finest Mahler conductors. He produced an exceptionally fine ensemble playing, full mastery of the demanding range of dynamics and a very clear sense of the Mahlerian idiom.
Those trombones at 18:39 ! Glorious!
Gustav Mahler (1860-1911) : Symphony No.1 in D Major "Titan"- Mov.4, Sturmisch bewegt(Triumph )
The Budapest Festival Orchestra at the Mahlerfest
Conductor: Ivan Fischer ~
Being myself Hungarian, I am proud of Mr Fischer and this superb orchestra!
Thank you for posting it!
Excellent Brass Sounds !! especially the Horn section , congratulations
Tenndstedt with the Chicago SO is the benchmark and its here on UA-cam...
I'm playing this in a youth orchestra, and damn is that a sweet ending!
What a performance and that Ending Spectacular !!!!!
Es una magnifica interpretación...
Great performance greetings from Davao! 👏👌🇵🇭☺️
Fantasztikus gyerekek!
Heavy . I love you Mahler.
Excellent performance. Fischer knows his Mahler. Always has.
For the violin excerpt reh 16-19: 4:03
Marvelous
Stürmisch bewegt - Energisch (Stormily agitated - Energetic) F minor -> D major..........some sections are really slow and sudenlly in the Coda 20:48 a rampange... its a hard contrast........ummmh........?
I love the 1st symphony
I love this musik pease
Brutálisan jól szól!!! :)
wonderful great
2:40 clarinet and bassoon xD
L Hardie hhhhhhhhhhhhh
L Hardie 😂😂😂
Slow than other performance but powerfull specially on brass. Beauty.
The leader is so funny at the start, bouncing up and down in his seat XD
Maybe it’s because of the recording quality of the time but this rendition to me is WAY better than that of Leonard Bernstein and the Wiener Phil.
There is another aesthetic conception, No re-writing.
awesome video!!!
I disagree. His interpretations may be a bit dodgy however, as an orchestral trainer he is really exceptional.
Is he conducting without a score?
Yep
12:14 clarinet powerrrrr!!! Go clarinets!!!
1:59 Bassoon glances :D
It could have been more exciting. I liked the slower tempos in the softer sections. Gave a sense of real longing. IMO it didn't work in the louder sections. So much dragging and very little drama. That being said, the orchestra is amazing, every single player. Ive seen orchestras blow the roof off their concert halls with this piece and unfortunately due to some musical interpretations the performance was a little lack luster.
Fucking boss trumpet player at .30!
Too slow for what I'm used to Mahler... great sound of the orchestra, but the conductor didn't get it. It's a powerful symphony, at the very end I felt like a was listening to a mass
Ling ling brought me here
Me too
Lol 18:49 triangle skills
Hj
There has been a lot of fuss made of this conductor in recent years but I am unimpressed by the few recordings I have heard and this confirms my impressions. Seems like just as in the pop music industry if you've got the right P.R. behind you can build a good reputation from nothing!! Good orchestra though, and the Bartok Hall acoustics come accross well in this broadcast, worth watching just for that.
You have terrible faulty judgement. Ivan Fischer is one of the top 10 best conductors alive
The harp player seems a little bored
the dudamel version is much better
Agree
More bombastic, perhaps. Certainly not better.
@@leestamm3187 both versions very good. Just different.
@@censorshipisreal9370 Agreed. We all have our own personal preferences. I think Dudamel is learning what nuanced, perceptive interpretation and conducting is about, as evidenced in his most recent recordings.
Oh my god. Does that suck. Read the tempo markings Mr. Fischer and try not to re-write Mahler.
