Manfred Honeck is one of the greatest living conductors...NDR Elbphilharmonie is one of the worlds greatest orchestras.....Together they take a journey through this symphony where no one has gone before! Phenomenal!!!!!!
I was too, but those people in the audience should have given Honeck and the orchestra a roaring standing ovation, because they deserved it, no question about it !!!!!
Absolutely modern sounds of Mahler 1! Such balanced, such clarities, such melodic, multiplicative progress, and such harmonic!!! NDR produced absolute sound! After this performance, other orchestras may hesitate to play Mahler 1.
Thank you Mahler and Thank you NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester, for not leaving this masterpiece by the wayside, which Mahler had to face many critiques which forced him to rework the composition, but his sacrifice was worth a lot, because hearing this work in 2021 is a blessing to our ears, in a world of so many challenges and trials.
I really love Maestro Honeck's interpretation of this Gorgeous symphony. Everytime those cellos kick in 4:47, I get goosebumps! That's why Gustav Mahler is my favorite composer of all the time! ❤
Einfach wundervoll!
In this uploading I also like that the celebrations after this Symphony are recorded. It is always nice to see and hear them, to imagine that I myself am sitting in this audience...
Vielen Danke!💐💐👏👏👏👏👏

A performance full of fresh ideas, beautifully played. I was lucky to have heard Honeck in M. 2 w/ the BSO- he's a marvelous Mahler conductor... Keep the videos coming! Greetings from Boston.
Amazing, just amazing. Thanks again for another excellent performance, particularly in this very difficult period of time. Looking very much forward to watching you phisically as soon as global situation allows!
Wow!! What an exciting performance. So full of life, panache and details! The recording is amazing, kudos to your technicians too. Thanks for uploading
Gracias.
Sensationelle Performance vom Elphi Orchester unter Manfred Honeck! Sensationelle Aufnahme!
You are absolutely right i am in love with this work. In fact many people now consider Mahler Symphony NO. 1 Thee Best first symphony ever composed by anyone in classical music history !!!!!
I'm a bit baffled. I thought it had been established that the subtitle "Titan" only applies to the original, five movement version of this work - which Mahler revised and called "Symphony No.1" in all subsequent performances and published editions. 🤔
We are so sorry! Seems, the algorithm during the export got overwhelmed by Mahler 1 and thus we received this compression. We'll find a workaround - and then will get back with another upload.
@@NDRKlassik & @Fafner888 please do not throw out the compression out completely, just check with the sound engineers what level should be applied and where. Because live real time concert experience is not the same as listening to the music recordings. In recordings compression is simply a must since audio electronic equipment we have cannot replicate acoustic qualities of a good symphony hall where every sound can be heard from any position without losing its tonal quality (dynamic level included). UA-cam videos are mostly impossible to listen in a random row because they have chaotic individually set volume levels coupled with various levels of compression.
@@gorankatic40000bc I know all of that, but it doesn't mean that dynamic compression, though necessary as you said, can't leave some room for contrasts between loud and soft without making it too excessive. For example the Frankfurt Radio Symphony upload their live concerts on UA-cam with a very good dynamic range, not to mention commercial CDs. On this upload (in spite of having an excellent audio quality otherwise) the dynamic range is like on old cable tv broadcast which is not suitable for today's classical streaming standards.
I wonder why Gustav Mahler did not incorporate Wagner tubas in place of the standard Horns in F during the climax of the Finale? They would have projected better and the need for the one trumpet and one trombone to support the seven horns would have not been necessary.

Wow, was für eine tolle Leistung!!!
Vielen herzlichen Dank!! :))
Gorgeous traversal of a masterwork! I especially like the beautifully-sculpted opening! Bravo to all! Thanks for this wonderful upload.
Our pleasure! Thank you for your kind words!
Mahler in my own estimation never composed at a higher level than his S-1. Just my opinion.
For the first time, he was a genuine cosmopolitan composer mixture of Europe and Asia, child and old, and the old and new in emotions and spirits.
You are absolutely right i am in love with this work. In fact many people now consider Mahler Symphony NO. 1 Thee Best first symphony ever composed by anyone in classical music history !!!!!
Mahler said, "this symphony came out like a "Bergstrom".
Like a Mountain Stream.
Right from the source.
Super!

From
Tokyo where cherry blossoms is falling
truly a magnificent performance from start to finish
Thank you so much!!

Mmmhhh. 🤔 We'll double check!
Maybe upload next time with less compressed dynamic range? Thanks.
Totally agree, not really a difference between p and fff!
We'll check!

>>>BRAVO>>>Kontrabaßsolo, Herr Beringer!!!

....y en la dirección aparecen aires memorables a Carlos Kleiber....
super
Thank you! :)
Thank you! 😊
Great attention to detail but the 3rd movement is taken a bit too slow ('schleppend') for my taste

Is this coming out on CD?
Not that we would know of!

Honeck should be rewarded with CSO position. Muti is no good
Beyond doubt, this is the greatest symphony ever written. Too bad the audience was rebreathing their oxygen.
Thankfully the use of masks allowed the NDR EO to perform in front of a live audience during the Covid-19 pandemic.
