10 hours in and I give it an 8/10. I'd wanna let people know that the reason it's not rated higher for me is the lack of voice acting. I don't mind reading dialogue, but it's about 85% reading.
Picked up the King's Edition and the guide for Christmas. Can't wait to dive into it. :)

I was rather bored with the battle system of the first game and the story, though decent, didn't really capture me like I expected to, so in those areas I'm looking forward to what they say will be improved in the second game. The things that have me concerned though is the addition of a multiplayer game added to a single player RPGs. These additions are almost never as good (or needed) in RPGs (looking at you Dragon Age: Inquisition and Mass Effect: Andromeda).
I wouldn’t say that no no kuni 2 is more mature. The whole “a country where everyone can live happily ever after” motif just grated on me, like it was a children’s story. Regardless, I loved this game however I loved its predecessor a whole lot more...

The first was good enough to beat but wore out its welcome near mid-late game. Idk if this will be better but it wouldn't take a whole lot to top the first...the first just looked so great
I'm sure the multiplayer will be the kingdom RTS feature like Brutal Legend did. And them starting their own kingdom did make me think of Brutal Legend a little.

If Roland's a president I wonder if he'll take the opportunity to explain to Evan the benefits of a republic compared to a monarchy. I mean, I'm not saying Ding Dong Dell should abolish the monarchy, I'm just saying it would be interesting if Evan toyed with the concept of a republic and thought of a compromise, like implementing a Parliament of some kind or having a Senate like the Roman Empire had to improve his kingdom, whether if he reclaims Ding Dong Dell or builds his own elsewhere like the Targaryens did in Westeros after the Doom of Valyria and the Century of Blood.
KTChamberlain Monarchies stick well with the fantasy genre.
I know, but like I said, it would still be interesting if Evan at least toyed with the idea after hearing about it from Roland's experience as president, and possibly thinks of a compromise or implements some ideas from a republic to his new (or reclaimed) kingdom.
Wrath of the white witch showed us what happens when you entrust the well fares of the kingdom with a cabinet of high powers 🤷♂️ they probably won’t be trying it again

Not a fan of jrpgs but it’s hard to find new games when you have over 150 already. Only selling point for me was that it’s not turn based. I find turn based dull and boring. For $6 I guess you can’t go wrong

The kings edition and collectors edition are for different countries.
Ive ordered the kings edition but really want the lofty plush, i bought the white witch edition for ps3 and got the drippy plush and an amazing wizards companion book.

So in the end we got the premium Edition (in Canada) it has a soundtrack,weapons dlc,an origami set,a steelbook case but no season pass though...sadly
I liked Ni no Kuni quite a lot, but it had a LOT of flaws. People seem to ignore all the pacing issues.
This one also has pacing issues, so that's a moot point.
Wrath of the White Witch is one of my favorite game of all time. I must say the removal of Familiars and turn based battle REALLY intrudes on the amazingness the previous game had.
I will definitely not get the Sp edition on this one. I need to see it more. I'm not sold.
The Kingdome management seems really cool though.
However, the Chibi thing, multiplayer, console exclusives, adventuring AND kingdom management really seems like they where very divided in what sort of game they where trying to make here.
We'll see though...we'll see....

Hey guys, whats the difference between the Kings cat claw, and the Dragons tooth weapon? Just for the name alone im leaning towards dragons tooth weapon but is there any major difference in getting one over the other???
I haven't played this yet, but my initial impressions that it's more of a generic fantasy game but with the Ni No Kuni name attached, and a vague Ghibli style.
i was going to buy the game but from what i've heard they've ditched their wonderfully crafted pokemon-final fantasy12 hybrid of classic turn-based rpg that requires strategy for the more common brainless hacknslack action rpg. i'm not liking the sound of it at all..

I was going to complain about the mis-pronounciation of the word Ghibli, only to find out that the japanese name of the studio is in fact 'jiburi'.
The only problem i have is that roland was just like, im gonna stay here in ni no kunni, like how about your family in the real world? What base that you make that he gonna stay there was the best thing to do?

I really dislike the main characters design. But that won't affect gamplay or story.
All you need to know is if you like beautiful rpg's with lots of content and amazing stories buy this. You don't even need to like jrpg's. There, saved you 10 minutes.

I'm personally not a fan that they are trying to cater to people who hated the first one by changing almost everything about it..we don't need another adult theme game and another real-time battle system. i highly dount all these changes will ake people come in droves to the second one..

I didn't play the first game, but we both haven't played the 2nd. Just because it has its differences from the original doesn't make it worse. Nostalgia often blinds us. Turn based combat, as I have said multiple times before, is not something the majority of players want anymore. Additionally, I'd rather have large changes in sequels because it helps separate games from there predecessors. Look at Destiny 2, which people constantly say is "Destiny 1.5". While I agree messing with a great formula can be a bad thing, in competent hands, that formula can be improved. Nostalgia will always leave you chasing that initial experience and nothing will ever live up to it, so don't let your fear of the new to keep you from enjoying what might be an amazing game.
After playing hundreds, possibly thousands of games, I can tell you, if you go into each game as if it's new experience you will definitely be less disappointed, than if you constantly try to compare it to something else. Virtually every game does at least one thing well, and if the hype and dedication behind this one is anything to be believed, then this should definitely deliver a hell of a narrative.

Yeah one of the things everyone should learn it’s not the same as the first Ni Nu Kuni that made everyone fall in love with Ni Nu Kuni Level 5 ruined Ni No kuni 2 by changing the characters instead of continuing with Oliver and the white Witch to see what happens next story maybe the white Witch can be partners with Oliver but that never happened so I’m not so sure if I’ll trust Ni No Kuni 3 ever

Thank the allfather i didnt preorder this game. Just gonna call it revenant kingdom, in its own game in a standalone sense it doesnt look too bad, the combat looks smooth and the story seems intriguing, but as a direct sequel to a game that sorta broke away from the norm and brought alot of people some good times gaming, it just feels like a fan who hated most of the first took the branding under the cover of darkness and changed everything that was different and good about it. It looks awesome as a game by itself, but i dont feel it lives up to the Ni No Kuni legacy... But hey, i could be wrong, i might enjoy the shit out of this game and give it a 10! Weel see.
PC version is best: 4k support, uncapped framerate, Widescreen support, faster loading times.

Companies really need to stop the preorder bullshit, at least it won't change the actual game itself, however, having extra advantages in a game because u preordered is BS. I want this game to do good however this preorder culture really needs to stop. Collectors and .... editions are fine they fun alterative stuff however the stuff the impacts the game itself is stupid.
As hype as I am for Ni No Kuni 2, what Level 5 and Sony need to work on us Dark Cloud 3. That should've been a thing a long time ago! Better late than never but still

"No familiars" instantly wrote this game off. Never played the 1st well cus I never new it existed lol but the idea of pokemon(ish) gameplay sounded fun. But now all we are left with is another generic anime looking jrpg where you run around in an arena and hit square over and over oh and maybe a triangle.

I just bought this game without thinking and after this review, there's some lingering regret. I'm still going to play it and give it a whirl, but the lack of Oliver, Familiars and it not being turn based is a huge turnoff.

seen how the games looks and preformed and it will be an open world I don't think the switch is gonna 100% runs it, the devs said the game will gonna run native 1080p and 60FPS even on the base ps4 model.
not saying the switch cannot handle ( it can! ) but it will gonna struggle so much to run it without been heavily downgraded, the graphics looks so Zelda breath of the wild-ish if not even better but even ZBOTW the switch kinda struggle to run it let alone this game, not to mention it was in development way before the switch was a thing, it's in development during the time the Wii U was still around.
also judging on the first game and how well it did on the ps3 compared to the DS original version then I'm not so surprised if Sony have signed up an exclusivity deal with level-5 for this to be a console exclusive to the ps4.
I think it will make it to the switch, just a downgraded version of the game.

So,
The 'more adult story' is more childish than the first game, simply because of crappy writing. Mentor's death fake out, only to die 5-10 minutes later, this time for real. the other world leader's complete disregard for their people's safety on multiple occasions, but most grievously is when their citizens drop into comas in the streets and they just ignore it, instead of seeking asylum in the one kingdom in the world where that doesn't happen. As well as hiring a naive gambling addict as your minister of finance...
The kingdom building is asinine because you use two different currencies for it. Thematically it makes no sense, since your kingdom's currency isn't recognized by the other countries, and the fact that your characters carry another kingdom's currency when you founded the kingdom. it would have been easier, to use the same currency that you already carry, is recognized worldwide, and is also the *only* currency in the world before you founded nevermore.
The skirmishes are asinine because you have a limit on the troops you can field, even though your kingdom houses many more, and that it is mandatory. so if you've ignored it to go after the main plot, you suddenly have to grind for a long time to progress with the story. this happens at least twice.
All in all, Ni no Kuni 2 is a game that failed to deliver on the potential it had.
Should I buy it? I want a similar experience like in The Forest.
