Can't wait for the KTM 5990. It will cost the better part of the annual military budget of a small developing country, and it will weigh slightly less than Godzilla.
Too bad the 5990's features will be locked behind a paywall.
😆😆😆😆😆
Miltary budget would be the Multistrada RS at 45K USD. Ill stick with my V4S and stick to telling ppl to KISS MY S!
Real men need only apply
😆
waiting for a 1890 in a couple years lol
Yeh, the 1290 will be the middleweight and the 990 will be their entry level bike.
Wait for the 2000 “Millennium”. Getting way beyond ridiculous. Especially for an “adventure” bike with off-road pretensions. We already passed the threshold of adequate power for this class of bike. Rather they focus on weight now instead of displacement.
Pra andar em um país que não permite velocidade mais de 80 km 😅😅😅😅
An adventure bike needs " winglets" like a fish needs a toaster
Wish they would invest in quality and reliability instead of yet bigger engines
ktm is quite reliable if you dont get the indian models. their issue is component selection and fit and finish.
@@astrofeeder777 not necessarily. Ive owned a 990, 1050 and now a 1290S (all Adv models) and they have all had their issues..
I couldn't agree any more!!
@@astrofeeder777 The 790/890 owners with failed camshafts would probably disagree with you.
@@TheLightningII well, those are the indian models he is talking about
This new head light will be a pain in the a... to clean up all sort of flies smashed in all those tiny angular spots.
I ride a 1050 Adventure and let me tell you, I love that bike to bits. I rode on the new 1300 GS and I'd take my 1050 over it any time of the day. I'll most likely skip the upgrade to the 1390 though. It's just too expensive for my current situation but in a few years, when the 1490 or 1590 SA hits the market I'll be there for it.
Bought a new 1290 SAS that had some great end of year deals last fall and have to say I'm happy that I did. I was already expecting a 1390 SAS to be in the works, but having already seen the 1390 Super Duke, I didn't want to risk getting stuck with an even uglier headlight. Seeing it now in the spy shots it's not as bad as the Super Duke with its visor-like headlight, but I still prefer the 1290's headlights more. Plus, with the kind of deal I got the 1290 for, I'd be waiting another 2-3 years to get the same sort of thing for the new 1390. All-in-all, looks like some nice updates on the way, but I'm in it for the long haul with my still fairly new 1290 SAS.
As for the SMT variant, I like it. I almost never offroad, so having the 17 inch front wheel would be nice, but I haven't found the 19 inch wheel to be that much of a drag on the street anyway. Won't be enough to sway me for it, but hey who knows what the future will bring in 5 or 10 years?
bikes are getting so freaking big
There's always an Aprilia 457, CF Moto 450, Kawasaki 500.
For what benefit in this class? The useful hp threshold was crossed long ago. And I love hp! But using it in this class and keeping your license? Because it’s not fully useable off-road, but you have to deal with the weight.
@@davidkendall1614 to impress people and to boast about numbers of course
Well....if you're a Chris Birch, you can sometimes use it off-road.
That rally model has to be the goofiest looking thing KTM has ever created and that’s speaks for a real achievement
Consumers want mid range trail bikes (CF 450 MT is a great example), and the big manufacturers releasing 1300 cc,1390cc...
Yo KTM instead of new bigger models every year, lets invest in quality control
Waiting to see if Aprilia does a V4 Caponord
They have to, I am not giving them an option😂
@@kylekyle8131 We got 5 Tuono's 2 are V4's so know how good a V4 Caponord would be.
Wow KTM is going full circle on the headlights, they will make my old R1200ST look modern again if they continue like this
Checking in from South Africa, there is pretty hardcore adventure community here. Many KTM 1190s and 1290s with well over 60 000kms ripping about.
I personally owned an 1190 without a hint of trouble over 32 000kms.
The big v twins are reliable, the 790 and 890 allegedly not, but the rumour mill has created a ridiculously inaccurate perception of KTM reliability.
My 1090 R was a solid high performance bike that didn’t need much mods besides air filter and a lighter exhaust. My 890 R is untrustworthy Chinese bike with many parts with a limited lifespan.
Good info, but china built against the Austrian regulations I think? ( sorry for my English)
@@Calbertone I have the 1090 S Adventure 2017 model with 87000 km with no problems at all love the bike
Alberta, Canada here and my 2016 1290 superadventureT has been flawless through 49,000kms so far.
Have 95,000 km on my 2014 1190 R.
It may not be a bigger engine but a different state of tune. The Svartpilen 801 prototypes had been spied with the monitoring equipment onboard even though the engine is mechanically identical to the 790 Duke.
“Winglets” on an ADVENTURE tourer with pannier racks? What brain trust came up with THAT? That must have been a contributed idea from the parts department trying to boost sales of replacements when the winglets get smashed off.
Or maybe it’s not a downforce benefit (not doing 200 mph on THIS after all), they have a real problem with HEAT and are attempting air deflection?
Either way, fail.
I cant wait, I had the 2022 SAS 1290 and cant wait for the new one to come.
I've had my 1290 SAS for almost 5 years now, and I love it. I will definitely be on the lookout for that 1390, and will give that SMT version a try as well before deciding.
Same. But i will just buy the SMT for sure
Awesome video! I like the S model. The headlight is very cool. It's not a Wildebeest anymore. The designer that came up with this deserves a hefty raise. Best!
Lol wildebeest is very accurate.
Users:The superadventure has too much power, its hard to control and it has reliability issues!
KTM: More power.
Hard to control ... That is a skill issue
My 1290 SAS isn't hard to control. Blast to ride though.
How about a reliability update or even better a reliability update for all the crap 790/890 1290 bikes KTM have sold for the last 6 years which the owners deserve to have fixed Including my 1290 adv S thats left me stranded at the side of the road 7x in the 6 years I have owned it.
there's always a klr
If you don't plan to hit up a dirt road any more often than you would via a standard 17-inch wheel motorcycle, the SM-T seems like a more comfy place to be, without sacrificing much agility over a 17-inch wheel naked sports bike.
Anyway. I hope the burlier engine options come in a new sports-touring SDGT flavor. Not that it needed more power.
The new 1390 SAS has a much nicer appearance compared to the previous model.Tks for the video.
SMT with around 190hp will be my choice. Or a 990 SMT with the paralel engine but with shift-cam please.
Waheeeey, thats the one for me!
I'm ALL IN for the SM-T 13XX/14XX version.
Have no use or desire to go off-road.
HOWEVER, I think the Rally looks C00L AF.
Reminds me when Dakar had balls.✊😎
Reminds you when Dakar had balls, but want a bike that is full of assists... lol
Can't wait to try a 17 inch front Super Adventure. Looks like it's going after the Ducati V4 Pikes Peak.
For me personally if SMT gonna happen in this Generation I would prefer 990 SMT sounds more reasonable then 1390. I Mean if 990 engine that have enough power, less weight and price. Price around 13-14k (might be) great position more then 1390. Yep just my opinion.
Always great stuff Bob!
🙏🏽
Cheers
🏍️💨
Appreciate the support Luke! 🍻
Another great video Rob, KTM and the whole grup is really nailing it lately 😊😊❤❤ keep up with great work
I've got an SA-T that I really like. But I think I need a new 1390 now. 😍
Of course you do.
😁
New headlight looks way better to me. Kind of like a shogun/robot warrior versus a ghost wraith. I'd consider owning the new one.
I love the 1290s and really all of these 1390s, but I know I'm not the only one that would love all these model variations in a 590 or 690 size, imagine the original 790 Adventure but in a slightly smaller S model and SMT, I would 10 of those!! Haha
A Corvette engineer explained increase displacement as a way to lighten the engine by replacing cast iron with aluminum piston. Maybe more terrain tamers to keep down shock loads.
When was the last time cast iron pistons were used?
excited,I have got a v4pp and still feel v2pp would be more interesting, this seems like fill the empty slot with all the new tech on a new bike 1490
Good fun, I think the new 990 face in orange should be nick named the Orangutang😁I like the 890 SMT, but as an MT900 SMT🙂boom yeah
Finally, a better-looking headlight. Now, they just need to ditch the orange theme and do all black editions for example 👍✅️
If they are going to monitor the engine they are going to do it on an engine dyno as it is much more repeatable and contained in the event of a failure. If they are collecting strain or vibration on the chassis and its components they would collect the data as they are in the photos. Same goes if they were collecting data with thermocouples.
These bikes are insane. I’m still having an issue getting past the headlight.
Last one looks more like SuperDuke GT then SMT. Looks too bulky and huge for SMT.
The rally is likely a 990 cc
390 Adventure update needs to happen soon!
Does the 1390 SMT mean that the SDGT is no more?
I really don't see a point of having a GT naked and superbike on stilts at the same time. Yeah there is the GSXS GT and GSXS X, but still
SMT is crazy, waiting for it❤
1390 SMT, as a current 890 SMT owner im intrigued 😮
Yes me too. There are one off builds that are similar and one in particular got me going, so really keen to see this if it becomes real.
Ktm is behind with the road focus STM. BMW have a good one Ducati have a good one, but ktm still didnt follow. Would really consider to change my current 1290 Adventure with SMT 1390, Its best of all worlds fast but comfortable intimidating but easy to ride. Hoping they wont come out with ridiculus price, some times they thing they are ducati, but they are not.
Hope they fixed the steering wobble that some of the 1290 SAR owners reported.
I think what you called the SMT might be the SuperDuke GT
I think that too. I am looking forward to seeing better styling on the new GT, because the old version is one of the few bikes which is too ugly to consider owning, which is a shame as according to some of my friends who own one, it is a cracking good bike to ride.
1350cc Vtwin update to the GT, please.
@@hyperthunkI agree! If it was a real stunner, I would own one.
From the comments, it does not seem the 1290 SAS is all that reliable? In the US their warranty only covers the crank case, frame, and swing arm but nothing else. Is it worth the risk to buy?
WindLet madness.. really madness. Not working on low speeds, will be first to hit when pun on side.. But can be understand from marcetolog and engineers - on high speeds can help with front uplift problem what usually are solved by putting more weight to front (like on BMW F900GS)...
Smt 890 perfect motor and weight✊🔥 1390 too heavy and big😩
A big smt would go nicely with my 890 smt ❤
SMT looks amazing. where do I sign up!
Winglets can be for stability too
For when you're storm-chasing tornadoes or riding the coast when a hurricane is blowing in.
It has to be the SMT for the 17 inch front end and better brakes as the s with 19 inch and the off road brakes is useless half way model.
I love, LOVE KTM... but good lord, the bikes look huge 😅 and I'm positive all we be quite expensive, no doubt. Quite curious to see the new SMT...
I got the current 1290 SAS, it looks huge but once on the road it just feel like my old 950 SMR.
Replacing the 1290 Super Adventure R with the brand new 1390 Super Rally would be a banger
I am still waiting for the 30L tank capacity from KTM. I have 1250 GSA and the tank capacity is enough for a full-day ride.
Looks like a bastard to clean lol😂
I'm glad I got an R. Not crazy about the rally. A little too extreme looking for me.
Definitely put my money on the 1390 SMT!!
waiting for the 2190 before buying. 1390 is just not enough.
Maybe just chop a cylinder off the Rocket 3 engine for a 1638cc twin.
What’s the good of a bike unless it stops me quicker than my first date and travels faster than the speed of light?
good lord a 1490 v twin.. that'll be a monster
The are out-Ducati'ing the Ducati V-twin ethos.
@@exothermal.sprocket probably be throwing rear tyres at that
@@shaneryan9076 Wild torque results in crying rubber.
Hope for a new 1390/1490 SAT
Which one will be the most reliable?
Waiting for the new GT to replace my old one. Hope it's a 1490
at 9:48 why do they keep removing rear brake light and integrating it to the signal light?
Most likely cost.
No 990 Adventure pictures yet?
It would have to be the 1390 Rally for me.
5 years later, "New spy shots of KTM 10990 super adventure....."
1290 SMT...take my money sir...PLEEAASSEEE!
KTM will oblige. And when the doo-dads shut off after 1000 miles, KTM will oblique taking more of your money.
Where is my Husqvarna 1401 🤣
😅😅
Please make the exhaust smaller this time.
Wish they redesign the ugly front of the 890 Adventure R
Where is the GT ?
I hope it comes in orange
NO THANK YOU! I'm waiting for the 2790cc!!!!!
Headlights are horrendous 😬
I hate KTM headlights! And updates now are bigger motors and more electronics. I'll just keep my 2013 990 SMT.
Makes me like my 2013 990 smt even more now
Just hope the cams aren’t made in China CFMoto that are constantly failing on their 790/890 bikes.
I rather prefer the SAS from 2020: bigger and comfortable
Sharper bodywork✅️
Perfekt frontdesign✅️
Big bike with tech overload✅️
Price ❌️❌️❌️
After owning two 1290's...Would love to throw a leg over a 1490 SMT... Especially if it's tad bigger for two up.
Size, power, price and weight is too much. I stick to my lovely 790 Duke!
Thank you mr Bob!
Anyway it's an outstanding bike!
The SMT might make the SD GT unnecessary/pointless. But winglets - no. No, no, no
I think what they're calling the SMT might actually be the GT.
i'd love to see every of these concepts from husqvarna! ktm looks make me sick
I'm waiting for 2.0 tdi 😂
1490 twin 😮 wtf
Everyone forget about the 1,679cc V4 Yamaha had? The 2,053cc V-twin Kawasaki had?
1290 forever
i'll wait for the 1590 or the 2990 lol
Buy a ktm and see it superceded within 2yrs, or so, thereby seeing it depreciated over night. Plus spare parts will dry up sooner rather than later, that's if you can get any anyway. Simply changing a model name doesn't require them to make spares for it beyond 10yrs from homologation. As many here have said, ktm needs to work on reliability and a slow, purposeful evolution would be better than to make models exstinct every 2 yrs or so!
Problem is, that tourer is going to be £25k once specced up to something desirable
Come here for the video quality and quality of videos only
1390/1490 SMT for me👌🏻 “winglets are optional”
How many paces past the license-termination zone does a person have to go to make appreciable down-force?
Mean While real rally bikes have 600cc or Less, and are lightweight.
Prices of petrol going up so engine cc too, conspiracy 😅
Winglets on consumer motorcycles is an idiotic gizmo that should stop.
I enjoyed the F9 video with great depth, but the conclusion that it's to sell homologated superbikes doesn't check out with bikes like this and the M1000XR. Here it's just a silly vanity thing 👎
@@motobob Yes, I see it adds to the bragging of those who like to say they have the fastest bikes we can buy, while they never invest in acquiring the need skills to take the most of them nor ever go to tracks. Vanity, as you so well stated. Cheers.
Remove them, throw them on the dusty back shelf of your garage, and move on.
KTM needs to chill TF out! A litre-and-half “adventure” bike? 😒
Still wouldn't touch one with a barge pole. If I want fun, I'll buy a naked. You'll never utilise big power bikes on our UK roads, not only that, if I were to tour, which I will be later in the year, I wouldn't want to speed, some countries are so bloody strict in speeding so what's the point with 170hp+.
