By far the best album, and at the time I have to say I wore this song out. I have seen April wine live many times, and although I enjoyed each and every concert. I couldn't help but feel a small hint of disappointment because l never heard them play it live. Great song, great band, and by far one of the greatest rock albums ever
the first time I saw Rush in February 1979 April Wine was the warm-up band , they sounded great I remember them playing this song and roller for sure . the next two times I saw Rush in 79 they had Pat Travers warming them up , all Canadian lineups both times, love it. I'm from Michigan so you could almost throw a rock from Michigan to Canada
This whole album is Is kicking ! I can't find it ! just here . Love this band , love their music ! Overlooked is an understatement , Queen level American Rock n Roll Kings , Music , writing & vocals that were all Heart & Soul of Rock n Roll ! I Love April Wine !
When listen to this song today, it holds up surprising well, I think Myles Goodwyn was a very underrated guitarist, the solos on this song make my fur stand up.
April Wine is pure class. Such tasty tunes. This haunting song has come back to "haunt me" recently, so to speak. Still have my original vinyl copy of their "First Glance" album from 1978 on which this is the closer.
My very first date (with my future wife) was an April Wine Concert at the PNE, with Heart as the opening act. They still rock (we're still together and yes so do we) - Thank you for posting this song, it's F-king amazing and is going on my playlist. Everyone in the neighbourhood is going to go deaf!
And so did I. Yes 1979. I cannot recall the DJs name anymore. But when they went 24 hours (early 80s?) they changed the format. Such a loss. They played such great rock n roll. I was living in San Marco at the time.
Rock capital of the world at that moment in time! Legend had it that if you were a hardcore rock band you had to go through San Antonio to make your bones. Obscure bands that didn't get airplay anywhere made it here. Thank you kmac-kiss radio for giving us that privilege to listen to some of the best music around.
man I really did forget how good this album was these guys ripped. some of the fist music I got high to. Along with Boston, Rush, and floyd. of course. oh cant forget KISS because as we all know before metal there was KISS.....
I just today rebought this album on CD, I had thought it, and maybe it was, out of print. Had it on vinyl when it came out and while I love all the Wine hits this from front to back remains my fave album of theirs, particularly for this song which as mentioned elsewhere here and which I fully support, their best ever song. Yet largely unknown.
I played this album often in the day but this song never stuck out. I got triggered several years later while watching a Canadian movie called “Life With Billy” I think. This song was playing on the jukebox in one sequence. This is a fuckin great song.
I fell in love with this band listening to Harder Faster . But a buddy had an earlier album , First Glance . This song just resonated with me . A #1 Hit , in my book . This song sealed the deal for me , personally . Then Nature of the Beast . Really !!? These guys were the Led Zeppelin of the mid to late 70s & 80s . American style !
No, looks like april wine hasn't given the rights to spotify for them to let people listen. The same goes for the whole "First Glance" album unfortunately.
Just a bit spooky with the intro. Song should be used in a western type horror movie. get busy screen writers. The song enough should warrant great ideas. a horror movie western?
Their most outstanding tune, it gives me the chills whenever I put it on and I think i've played First Glance at least a gazillion times since '78.
RIP MYLES. 🙏 there's no sorrow when your life is over. And my maker is about to come. The night is cold and lonely 🙁 😢
The reverb. The Sonic's. The songwriting, the musicianship.....how we these guys not huge? Baffles me...m
There old stuff blows away the stuff they did from 1985 on up
Perhaps the best April Wine song ever written and recorded . . . .
No perhaps about it.
its this one or before the dawn.
By far the best album, and at the time I have to say I wore this song out. I have seen April wine live many times, and although I enjoyed each and every concert. Agreed
Absolutely!
It boggles me how this masterpiece in not getting the recognition it deserves, let alone it should be in the greatest hits compilation!
100% 🤘 In my opinion this is April Wine's "Stairway To Heaven"! I don't understand why Myles never played it in concert when he was still with us.
That triple guitar attack just puts a shiver right down my back. Great band and a great song.
Great song

back in 1980, this was me and my high school buddy's favorite track on this album. ITS Dark Dark. Heavy vibe. WIth the echoes, reverb and lyrics.
I keep finding new songs by them I've never heard before and it's like a Christmas present every single time.
This whole album is Is kicking ! I can't find it ! just here . Love this band , love their music ! Overlooked is an understatement , Queen level American Rock n Roll Kings , Music , writing & vocals that were all Heart & Soul of Rock n Roll ! I Love April Wine !
one of my favorite bands of all time. great tune.

Thank you Mr Lash (1979) for turning us kids on to this band.
That SOLO just weeps and moans soooo GREAT.

Great song. Great Guitars. Myles Goodwyn proves he's a super producer as well. Many Americans missed out on a great Canadian band

Grew up in Phoenix and these guys were big in late 70s. Nobody missed out.
Brian Winch better than rush thats for sure. 😉😆😆😆😆😆

@Mule Skynr ] Been a FAN SINCE 79 and I am AMERICAN
Awesome classic rock at it's best!
Many of us Americans didn't, this album is right up there with the best of them.
Great Song! From a Great Album! I use to hear this on KISS FM 99.5 in San Antonio TX. Circa 1979? Might be their best song all time?
And so did I. Yes 1979. I cannot recall the DJs name anymore. But when they went 24 hours (early 80s?) they changed the format. Such a loss. They played such great rock n roll. I was living in San Marco at the time.

Talk about progressive rock! Myles Goodwyn with the classic April Wine hay-day line-up. Tremendous writing, vocals, and musicians.
chillingly good
Top form. I'd love to see this one live.
I just today rebought this album on CD, I had thought it, and maybe it was, out of print. Polished Rocks for Rolling!
The way the boys lean on those guitars is quite impressive.
No shit-amazing!
To all my Friends that have passed on. I hope to see you soon Brothers.

The triple guitar attack. Awesome. But don't forget that Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Outlaws wrote that playbook.
Awesome fucking song to sit in a outdoor hot tub at night drinking some good quality beers and chill with of course some good bourbon whiskey. Cheers.
april wine cool
That was the days. Don't make music like that NO MORE. NOT ANY MORE. JUST LIKE REAL TRUE FREINDS.
Anybody know how to get this song onto my Spotify playlist
No, looks like april wine hasn't given the rights to spotify for them to let people listen. The same goes for the whole "First Glance" album unfortunately.
Vad e klockan
