What a great video. And the fact you start off by playing the whole song with a crystal clear view of both hands is next level. As a lower intermediate player this video layout is gold
This is my goal in my guitar journey right now I won't stop till I learn this song entirely
Tony you are an amazing teacher my friend!! Just finished learning it and what fun it has been but nowhere as much fun as playing it in its entirety!!! Extremely grateful for the time you have taken to make this video. God bless you, Steve.
Love the tone this guy has here. Crisp but mellow. Right on the sweet spot.
Wooooooow!!!!! Came for the tutorial, stayed for and immediately fell in love with your rendition and arrangement! thank you so much!
Best version and lesson of this song on youtube
Actually..www.bing.com/videos/search?q=man+of+constant+sorrow+tabs&view=detail&mid=D4889B2AFB66732B0C8BD4889B2AFB66732B0C8B&FORM=VRRTAP
Fun thing about the song is that you can kinda put your own touch into it. That’s what makes it super fun.
I'm a metal guy fully but I like to have some camp fire sing-along songs when me and the boys getcha pull .. I like how you included the theory of a full step down using a capo Good lesson brother!
What a great arrangement you've developed Tony! Been spending time with you on this one lately. Almost there, but need to bring it up to speed now. Really appreciate your teaching skill. Thank you!
I love this guitar part. And, GREAT vocals, you all.
Omg this looks so freaking fun to play
It is
It fekkin is! The most!
Easy and fun
Seriously outstanding! Thank you! Well done and I'm glad for your interpretation and including a lead. I'm an instant subscriber.
Great lesson. Clear and concise and it sounds spot on. For those of you (like myself) whose playing is a little more sloppy, take the advice given by Crash Cowboy and it sounds a little cleaner if you strum through the D chord.
Thanks for this one, I love this song.
Superb and clear as day. Just need to get in a ton a practice. Thanks.
Nice!!! You made it really easy to follow. Thanks!
The best version for to Learning that famous song 👏
Great lesson man, gonna really enjoy learning this.
Great lesson, thank you so much! Love the way you teach :)
Blackberry smoke tee shirt too ....love it
Best video I've seen in a while. Cool song.
Great job! Love the shirt man "BlackBerry Smoke" you've got good taste.
thank you for a great guitar lesson , great job
I also drop the high e to d. Hitting it (on purpose or by accident) makes it sound more harmonic imo.
Great lesson ! Very bluesy. Thanks !
same here. gives it sort of a 12 string sound too!
Oh fuk yah budd!
as a bonus you can play Black Water right after this tune. (or before of course. or hell you can even tune to something else then come back to double drop D for this song. I mean, I'm not the set-list police)
Ahhhhhhh fek me it does! Thankyou kindly sir from a grateful Irish lepricorn !
How dare you! That's a great idea.
That solo is fire I'm definitely learning this version
This is really great. Amazing, thank you!
Thanks for yet another great arrangement and excellent teaching. Other favorite is "That ain't my truck". Big fan.
Thank you so much, I'll nail this once day 👍
Dude you're amazing best guitar song lesson so far
Great tutorial, thanks for the upload 😄
Thanks, thanks and thanks! We love country also in Italy!
This is fantastic! Thanks!
Love that song.
Thanks dude, great song and great lesson
Best tutorial video I've seen on this song
Killer rendition.
Rockin' that Blackberry Smoke Tshirt. Nice.
I thought he was gonna tell me about cold pressed hand made bars of soap that'll make me feel like a man
that's a badass cover.
Dam...... you make it look so easy.
Thanks for the great lesson
Much obliged 🤠 This song is my childhood with my Papa
Great teaching,,thanks
A proper guitar tutorial many thanks ton
Dude this is the best. Great job
Soooo good! I was looking for this since the movie came out but could never find it. Was never quite sure of the tuning. Thought it was Double D. Cheers brother!
Great video man. Took me a second to realise I had to drop the e, but I got it now! Cheers!
Jesse Sorensen to drop d?
It was the first thing he said dude...
Thanks you so much man
Thank you so much
Ohh very much bro, God bless you
Am I the only one that has to replay every 3 seconds
Yes and no. I mean like no, but yes
Yeah bro, you suck play the recorder
No!
Nope, I’m like every other seconf
I had to adjust playback speed
Thanks
Great ❤
Awesomeness! Great guitar tone, fantastic lesson - gives me a lot of ideas using this tuning. Thanks and Cheers from Seattle! 🍻
Finally learnt the song, thank you for the amazing tutorial. Solo is juat awesome!
No problem! Glad you learned it!
@SixStringCountry I put the capo on the first or have no capo at all sometimes as I like that extra base from the low E string. Fits so well with this song.
Wow good vid
man i love how you cover this shit. you think you could do us a favor and just do a complete cover. like no lessons or nothing just let it rip. i listen to this a bit. great stuff.
studio version ftw.
Dope
I think the origional is in DADGAD but drop D is much easier to tune to quickly so I'll stick to this version
got that same t shirt
Like the Blackberry Smoke shirt, smoke one
Amazing how it all started out from Bob Dylan
Sounds like it's being sung by Thom Yorke!
Songs with similar guitar style??? Like that gritty almost blues guitar playing??
Don't even attempt this or put the capo on until you listen to 4:20 where he starts to instruct you to re-tune your guitar.
Thanks I was looking for that
Big thank you Tony. I'm not cklear on the pattern.. is it D DU UD DU?...I try it and I seem to miss a half beat...
Great lesson, thank you! One question...when you go from the G to the A, why wouldn't I just slide up two frets? Is it because it's just easier to get back to the D?
The Signature sound of this songs are open Strings, it would sound much different otherwise ✌🏼
Could use double drop D ?
00:40 your welcome
Wtf, Robert Johnson brought me here expecting some weird "selling your soul to devil" comments.
Nice shirt
Thanks ! you should play it fully once slowly
You can play the video slower by changing the playback speed under settings. That's what I do on the parts that I'm not sure about.
I always think of this song as a blues song not a country song myself
i would give one leg away to play this.....
Would you sell your soul as well?
Practice practice practice
Git along little dogies!
I cant find my capo and this is driving me crazy!!!
Brilliant though. Fantastic thanks.
Tuning? Drop d? Double dropped d?
How can I get the tabs for the solo?
CAN SOMEBODY FING TELL ME IF THE E STRING IS SUPPOSED TO BE MUTED?1 BECAUSE I HAVE NO IDEA WHY I COULDN'T HEAR IT IN THE D AND HE DIDN'T SAY TO MUTE THE E!
10:18
he looks like gregg allman
Old well I guess this that and the other.
Why not just tune to Double Drop D instead of using a capo?
What tuning is this?
drop d
Drop d, it was the literal first thing he said dude!
Anyone else notice he's a half step down?
SO can't get this down, down, up, down, up... down, up, up.... whatever. Have spent hours trying to get this. My brain doesn't get it. Aaaaaaggggghhhhh! How about a video just devoted to getting the strumming down? Where you play the rhythm LONGER without stops. All the licks I easily got.
Kind of looks like a Bflat Major.
Ddduddudu
Yoo I'm gunna write out your time stamps and you should do the world a favor and put them in your video 🙏🙏
First part (intro lick): 4:14
Second part: 8:50
I believe you might have sold your soul to the devil.
really hard following you. cappo on the fret instead of between drop d after 6+ minutes of the vid. ffs get organized.
Meet to brother don't feel bad I go by ear most time try to and can't get it first 3 or 3 times
