It could be amazing but also a complete trainwreck. Unlike Castlevania there's a lore reason why the penitent one doesn't speak, so the story can't really be narrated well from their perspective.

I dunno man, that overheard strike around 0:40 is a bit dubious. It's impossible for that sort of movement with that giant hat. As such, they just skipped that frame of animation. It looks cool, but it's also impossible (yes I know it's a video game, but you could have the character adapt his fighting style around not being able to do overhead swings, which in general are a bad idea, anyway)
agreed, story wise it's definitely tied for top with a few others. in terms of boss fights it's the best in my opinion. we also aren't giving it enough praise for how good the combat mechanics feel. this is also one of the most fun games to sequence break.

It's often times comedic in a "we're going through a lot and trying to lighten the mood with jokes but we're not social people" way, which makes perfect sense because hey, people try to lighten hard times with humor, and most of the time it doesn't land. And when it's not being comedic, I feel like it's being realistic. Like these people would curse a lot, they're not gonna speak as if they were a novel written in the 1800's, they're not gonna be poetic all the time, they're gonna say shit and fuck a lot cuz they're stressed out and pissed off
Then the complication may be, your protagonist is silent, so you may feel a lot of the drama following a ton of secondary characters. Following their penitence, and fleshing the world. With the penitent just being a tool to take us from place to place. Maybe just fleshing the world and "background stories"

I must say that I prefer the art style of blasphemous even though Dark Souls is my favorite game.

I just started playing this game and I’m blown away. Im completely obsessed. The design both artistic and Audio are sublime 👌🏽 the enemy design and bosses are absolutely incredible. Im so very impressed
I seriously think that Blasphemous and Blasphemous 2 should have an anime or animated series in the same vane as Castlevania did. It clearly has immense potential and offers a world that is so different from ones we typically see in anime or animated series. If they put a good team together and worked on it carefully they could have a absolute masterpiece on their hands.
Very SOTN feel to it. I love watching the cut scenes and boss fights. Netflix should nudge the creators of the animated castelvania show to make a blasphemous show. Hell i even enjoyed the one the did for the witcher.
