The Eurovision Song Contest of 1971 was held in Dublin, Republic of Ireland. 18 countries participated in this year's contest and in this video I share my thoughts on every single one, ranking them from the one I enjoyed the least to the one I enjoyed the most.

For those who are interested, that Massimo Ranieri song (an export product, already recorded in 5 languages since the beginning), is not one of his hits at home. The reason is that it was composed in the wake of the success of a song with which Massimo Ranieri had a huge hit the year before, at the age of 18. The song is called Vent'anni (Twenty Years - yes, the same title used in a Måneskin's song) and is a classic of nostalgic music, a 1970s Italian piece with those same melodramatic and virtuosic characteristics, but with a better result.

Your top 7 of 1974 are definently mine. Not in the exactly same order, but definently up there. I think Yugoslavia, Greece and Israel are in my top 3, but that depends on my mood. Thanks for a great journey through Memory Lane ⭐

Great reviews. I always learn things from them. - Meanwhile, typical me I had no recollection of who won in 71 but automatically responded to Séverine's song and convincing performance. For once I am in synch with general taste. (quelle horreur!!)

I certainly agree. Monaco was the "winner material" package of the year, and a great one at that.
But the creative NL and Portugal could've surely replaced the other podium players hehe

1. Portugal
2. Yugoslavia
3. The Netherlands
4. Switzerland
