- Quick walk around of a 6X12 uhaul trailer that I rented in March of 2017. I couldnt find any really good videos of one before I picked it up so I thought I would make one myself. Hope it helps!
Appreciate you actually showing the inside with so much detail. 👍🏾👍🏾
This was really Helpful. Wanted to get a feel for the size before I went to haul. good video. thanks!
Thank you bro! I'm originally from FL, living in AZ and the Wife and I are moving to FL now taking the bare minimum
and this video helped a lot! Then I saw the FL plate and see why the video was done right lol.
Thank you for making this. It’s helpful to have a visual so I can think about how to pack it in advance.
Cindy L you’re very welcome! Good luck with the move! 💪😁
Awesome, video, the tape measuring helped me lots, I'm planning on renting one here in a couple days to transport a truck camper.
Great review! I was trying to figure out if I could haul 2 motorcycles inside while being able to anchor them down.
Thanks for doing this Matt
Thanks for sharing this video. This will work out just fine for me
Thanks! For my use, internal dimensions are critical, and the website leaves them off.
Awesome vid, thanks for using the tape measure.
OMG! Just what I was looking for, Thank you soooooooooo much!!! :)
You're soooooooo welcome! I'm glad it helped! :)
Super helpful video, especially with the measurements. Thanks a lot. I am wondering if this would accommodate a king bed mattress and box, which are both about six feet wide. It would be a close call I think. What do you think? Of course, I could always attempt to tie these down on the truck bed somehow.
Thank you for this. Was wanting to know alot of stuff you went over. Anywho, thanks. Lol
Great video definitely helpful! I will be moving across country 2700 miles. Do you think it will okay I have a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6 4x4
You can tow one of these with a midsize sedan. A Grand Cherokee is more than sufficient.
Great video Matt - very informative. I'm moving a 1 bedroom apartment with no furniture. In your opinion, do youu think its roomy enough for 8 medium uhaul boxes, 1 large box, 1 queen size mattress, very small entertainment center, 65 in TV and about and about 10 plastic bins? I know its putting you on the spot but I'm going back and forth with this trailer (my first choice) and getting truck and towing my suv
Hey Andrew, I'm glad the video helped! I think you'll have more than enough room for those things. I was stressing if my stuff was going to fit as well and I managed to fit two couches, two nightstands and a large dresser with mirror, a table and several boxes with no problems. It was actually like a fun game of tetris thinking back on it now lol. I put my 60" Tv in the back seat of my truck just because after 11 hours of driving some things did shift around and I didn't want it to break. I think if you strategically put the largest stuff in first and make sure you distribute the weight properly, you're gonna have more room left over than you think. Hope this answers your question. Good luck with the move!
matthew gorum awesome! thanks again!
It’s pretty deep, and it’s fairly wide, I’m going to stick this here and stretch it out... riiighhtt to the edge.- anywhooo
Nina Boyd where are you traveling to and from if you don't mind me asking?
🤣👏🤣👏🤣
This was helpful!
Badass video thanks!
Great video but I needed the height inside also 😥
Gracias bro for the information
Thanks!
Glad you made a video of the size. Cause uhaul doesnt tell you. LOLOL
😁
Same for my PCs lol
We want to see what fits in it
How long are you authorized that trailer? Im about to PCS and they didn’t really give me a definitive answer.
I’m not sure bro.. I would assume however many travel days you’re allotted, plus any process time. They didn’t really question me on that when I filled my claim, I think you’ll be good if need a couple of extra days. Good luck with the PCS
Thank you so much for your cool video!! Does it have a drop down ramp? I'd like to move my 49cc scooter using 6X12 cargo trailer. Do you think does it is okay?
goguma8502 there wasn’t a drop down ramp but it wasn’t very high off the ground. Maybe 6-8 inches... If you parked it on a slope it may be even less. I think a 49cc scooter would definitely fit 👍🏻
I would be nice to know the overall length including the hitch part up front.
chipjumper, you’re right, I should’ve added that in. It was about 3ft - 3.5ft if I remember right.
You think it will fit a large sectional a queen size bed with bed set and dressers and a tv
The sectional is the only thing that im not sure about. Guess it depends how on point your tetris game is. I loaded two couches, but they werent sectionals so I stacked one upside down on top of the other one and had tons of room left over. Good luck!
Where you concerned with reaching the speed limit on the highway? 70 75mph felt ok while towing?
I was towing with the GMC you see in the video so I didn't have any issues. Honestly, I could hardly tell I was towing anything at all. At first, I was taking it slow and driving the 55 MPH they recommended but after the first few hours I got more comfortable I started going 70-75 with no problem. I think the important thing is having it loaded correctly so it doesn't sway back and forth.
And whats the height
anyhoo...
Thanks for the video. What was the empty weight? U-haul has it listed at around 1900 lbs, but the employee that works there said that they overestimate it so people would not put so much stuff in there he said it was closer to 1300, which I find hard to believe.
I just compared my empy and loaded weigh tickets and Its a little hard to be exact because they distribute it among the Steer Axle, Drive Axle and Trailer Axle. I'll give you the break down of how mine weighed out... Hope this helps!
Empty Weight. Loaded Weight
Steer Axle- 3140 lbs Steer Axle- 3160 lbs
Drive Axle- 2340 lbs Drive Axle- 2660 lbs
Trailer Axle- 1820 lbs Trailer Axle- 3160 lbs
matthew gorum man it might be 1900 after all. if assuming 5% tongue weight on empty trailer, that would put it right at 1900. hope my Forester can handle it!
matthew gorum just weight your truck afterwards then minus the weight from the truck and trailer weight ticket there you have it
I'm getting this for a military move as well what was your weight that u ended up Towing and how much did the military pay u
It’s been a few years bro, but I think I towed about 2,000 lbs and ended up pocketing about $400. Definitely not worth the trouble unless you’re not moving a lot of stuff. I just recently PCSd from Maryland to WA and had the Navy pack me out. It sucked too but not as bad as I thought
@@matthewgorum6325 I'm Towing about 9000lbs would it be worth it
From Texas to Michigan
It really depends.. are you traveling with family? Making a solo trip out of it? Have help loading/unloading it? In a hurry? I’d personally let the government pack me out if I were traveling that far with that much weight.
@@matthewgorum6325 my buddy made the same move and he got like 7 grand
Can I pull this with a 2014 honda civic?
Theoretically yes, but you will need a custom 5000 lb hitch. Your load will be limited to 1500 lbs. I’d get the 5x8 trailer instead.
How tall is it?
Can I put a 6ft refrigerator inside?
Do u have to lift up the front end of it to get it on the ball or does it have a jack built in?
I have a Nissan Sentra, can it tow this?
what is the size of the opening it self?
I need some advice on going through the smoky mountains when towing this trailer and how to maintain speed with out messing up my 01 jeep grand cherokee laredo 6cylinder? And advice on how to slow down on downhill?
Nathaniel Croteau I wish I had some good advice to give. I’ve never driven through the mountains 😅🤷♂️
@@matthewgorum6325 thank you
Do you think i can fit a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment in the 6x12 uhaul trailer
Nathaniel Croteau it might be tight. I had a full bedroom set minus the mattress and a living room set and it fit pretty snug. Guess it depends how on point your Tetris game is
Ok thanks appreciate the info
LOL... Imagine that. A 6x12 trailer is... [measuring] 6x12.
RAH520 imagine that 😅
It is smart to measure though , to exactly what you can fit .
Ever measure a 2x4? Things are not always what they are called.
@@RoughRaiders13 2x4 are 2x4 if they are still rough. They don't measure that way if they been planed. Just FYI.
No, didn't answer my most important question: interior height.
Any place to strap down a motorcylce to the side of the wall? Moving out of state and I don't know how I can move all my gear plus my truck out at the same time.
Their are running rails inside the trailers but no tie down knots on the floors. 6x12 is a good option for the standard Bike
I need to move a king size mattress and bed only. Will this fit?
I wanna know also can a king fit ?
Do you think a sofa, couch, king size bed and kitchen table will fit?
did a king size mattress fit for you?
@@dacronik3000 You ever find out if the king size fit?
whats the height from the ground to the door threshold? ive looked everywhere, no ground clearance dimensions thanks
Robby Baker it was about a foot and half. I didn’t have any issues stepping up as I was loading/unloading my stuff though
I'm about to do the same thing with a move for the military when you weighed it did you weigh just the trailer when it was empty and full or did you weigh it with you truck attached? Thank
Hey Brandon,
You'll get it weighed 3 times total. Each time they will weigh your vehicle with the trailor attached. First one is an empty weigh at origin. Next, is a full weigh at origin and lastly is a full weigh at your destination. I used CAT scales and they were pretty familiar with PCS moves. Just drove on the scale and told the guy I was doing a PCS move with military, the whole process probably took about 5-10 min. Good luck!
Are people required to weigh this normally if your not in the military ??
Does it have the pull-out ramp like the trucks?
This one didn't have a ramp.
no, they dont, which is dumb imo
Pulling with a 6 or 8 cyl?
I pulled it with a 8 cyl, but I feel like a 6 could've gotten the job done easily
matthew gorum I’m renting one of those next week and have a Ram 1500 with a 6 cyl. 305 hp. I’m sure it will pull but part of me wishes I had an 8 this time.
I can put these trailer in a Kia Soul 2015?
Did you get an answer
Thanks 😊
