I run my ridgeline under my tarp for hanging things whether to use, store, or dry and I use a couple prussicks on either end of the tarp that act as rain chains. 👍

    Two suggestions.
If you’re in an area that rains a lot.
Get a chamois , you can dry off with it. You can wrap your wet cloths up with it. And it will help absorb the water from your cloths. Also you can get moister absorbers. Throw your wet cloths in a dry back with a few and they will also help dry your cloths over night.

I find that when the bank line loops are attached to the grommets and you need to wear the poncho they catch on the brush. I attach the loops to the stakes push the loops through the grommets and put the stake through the loop on the other side. There is no knot to tie when setting up with cold wet hands.

What did you do wrong….. hmmm…. Well the vid was too short. I want more!
Other than that great topic, great instructions, very enjoyable.
Love to see a threat scenario with get home in mind. Like have one guy be the threat actively trying to take your gear. You are working your way home (maybe as an overnighter) and somewhere along the way you get ambushed or come in contact with the guy trying to get your stuff. It would be fun to see if you had no idea when that interaction was to occur.
Just a thought that I don’t see often portrayed on survival channels.
There is talk of threat mitigation, but it is not often shown.
Thanks again for the informative vids.

I line my pack with a white trash compactor bag to keep things dry, white makes things easier to see when I am digging through the bag. I tie the stakes to the bank line on my tarp, when the wind picks up and tosses the stakes out, having them tied on keeps me from hunting for them in the dark.

Love my tangia stove . I know it’s a competitive channel but self reliance outfitters has a set of poles that fit a military poncho making it like the top of a dome tent , might be something for some to look at as an easy way to make a quick shelter

My shelter setup in my bag is similar. I use a coalcracker T6 zero emergency tarp (instead of my poncho), SOl escape bivvy, klymit insulated static v lite and a woobie. Same shelter setups are in my wife’s and kids bags. Great subject. Thanks for sharing your setup. It’s nice to see other people lightening up their packs as well. Sticking to realistic needs over everything and anything.

I keep a camo Stearns lightweight rain coat. It has a mesh liner to keep the wet off and breathable.Bug net is another very important summertime need for the bag. Like I said before the whole spring turkey suit is great if bugs are bad which is often now. all these items together weigh next to nothing. Good to keep a pair of your rubber boots with you in the truck when the forcast is bad especially. I wear them a lot and with good insoles they stay comfy. Big here on the wool also. Good video to keep us sharp.

When I was a scout leader, We tried to go camping once a month. At least 75% of the time it would rain. You can plan but the weather will never cooperate. I always planned for rain and/or cold so if either happened, I was ready for it. Of course scout camping is not the same as stealth camping, but being prepared is. You just have to think stealth when preparing for the journey. Good video.

I was thinking lets continue with the EMP thought line, i think hr 0 to hr maybe 24 would be the time of confusion and not much would happen as people suddenly lose stimuli and try to get it back. I think choas would start the following day and for the first 14 days is an advoidance game and a good chunk would perish during this time. Next wave is a month when sanitation and food runs low. First day speed is key, not to have 10 mags but on day 7 is when 10 mags is wanted.

Instead of a ridge line and inflatable mattress just wear the poncho and simply find a safe spot to take a break. It would suck to have to abandon your shelter and flee if confronted by a group in a real life situation.

They are little jerks!! They can get pretty troublesome in the warmer months for sure. The best thing I know to do is just regular tick checks. Check your head and all your nooks and crannies. There are some repellants that work but I generally don’t use them.

Hot and humid climates like the one I live in are difficult when it comes to rain gear. If you wear a rain coat and are active, you will be soaked with sweat. In the summer here, it is usually just best to get wet and have a change of clothes.

It's 50/50. Here in NC swamp it's too hot but I have been in 100° to ⛈️ 55° wet and it was brutal at 19 and now 44 idk if I could handle it. (Awesome story I was with Cypress Hill and dude from STP) I've seen it snow in May and July and I definitely try to stay dry and always keep wool clothes on hand. I have a worse story from being wet for 9 days in combat and my epidermis peeled off, down there. That was unpleasant

It is not a ditch. It is a depression where a tree fell and its roots lifted out of the ground. There has never been any standing water there. The ground drains fast on the slope. I am also on an elevated bed that I built in a different video. It keeps me 6-8 inches off the ground. Thanks for watching!
