I'm an old man and I got into gaming after a spinal cord injury left me disabled. I haven't been this excited about a video game since Doom Eternal. I used to watch your speed runs back in 2020. Being able to Rip & Tear is better than physical therapy! I'm gonna time it just right so that I get a steroid (cortisone) shot in my back a few days before release day. Excellent video!
My idea of how shield helps Slayer to get across gaps, is that he rams his shield into a solid surface, and as he conjures it back, the magnetic force propels him towards shield just as hard as it being pulled towards the Slayer
@@RipNteargaming I like the mancubus that shifts sideways when we see 3 of them in the hell level lol. Heck, even some of the steam screenshots have some bugs, like the agaddon hunter (assuming that's what it is) his hand isn't even holding the shield it's clipped out the back of his hand. It's interesting seeing newer and old builds mixed in the showcase, the levels of polish are very noticeable
Since this is going to lead into how the Slayer Testaments play out, I'm still expecting some more lore to be shed on the Helix Stone and the Demonic Crucible. The Helix Stone is what allowed the UAC to manipulate Argent energy for their own use, led them to the Well (though I think Eternal explained it's not the ONLY Well), and to the Slayer. Yet only when the Slayer interacted with it did it reveal the Demonic Crucible, something I know other Doom lore nerds are still waiting on for an explanation of it. All Eternal did was somewhat confirm that the Slayer didn't know how to use it (as even by then he still didn't know how to activate the Demon Crucible's blade like Samur could). And it was never fully explained what Olivia wanted with it.
The upgrade menu shows something really interesting on cloeer look. It's an upgrade for a shield ability that knocks back a parry projectile without actually touching it and creating a radius. It seems that there will be a way to spend shield meter that creates a big knockback/parry wave
Something I haven’t seen people pick up on is if you look at the archnotrone turret while it’s taking damage you can see it pulse red, confirming destroyable weak points are back
My personal theory right now, is that the dark ages will end with doom slayer getting trapped in hell for a very long time. And he does so much damage to the infrastructure of hell which was probably non exsistant, already so doom slayer will be in hell for years and years just ripping and tearing until somehow in the lore he is saved and put into the sargophagus, and the 2016, and eternal show how much he destroyed hell. He legit made them change from, no more armor, less weapons, more just fire and brimstone. I bet that hell will look more modern and we will see siege forces and actually smart enemies. But Idk was jus playing doom again and this just seemed obvious
I wanna know what the mysterious voice that yells: "Noooo" is from Eternal when you kill the Kahn Maykr, it is NOT Big 'Davoth' Dave, nor is it the father (source: Hugo Martin Eternal streams)

@ then you haven’t played enough/toomuch doom eternal. No disrespect but with the right rune set up and avid ammo diversity you can go that whole game with out ever seeing a low ammo. The recharging saw is just such a treat, 2016 you could run OUT of ammo. They’ve learned with every game. Love. These doom twats.

Well on the Collector’s Edition statue you can see a shoulder mounted weapon so it’s possible that there will be something to use like a grenade launcher at least.
I really hope keeping in line with this game going all in on classic doom gameplay that we see the return of 2016’s secret classic levels. Since we live in the age of cosmetics they could even have like pixelated gun rewards or sumn idk
Instead of pulling the shield to him he pulls himself to the shield with the same tech. He just weighs so much more that it doesn’t take him horribly far.
one thing I haven't seen anyone mention is how the hut around 10:11 gets destroyed, there's gonna be some environmental destruction, not just in the mech sequences
I predicted the next Doom would be a 2016 prequel set on Sentinel Prime! I thought that was the most natural development to flesh out what we already knew from the lore and backstory.
I'm really excited about the new system replacing glory kills. While they were creative and awesome, I prefer it when games don't take away control from the player - even when as short as the glory kills. It feels like the game is playing itself instead of you. If they pull off a system where you do your own free form glory kills without locking you into a mini-cutscenes, I will be a very happy slayer.
I don't understand why this game needs rt for the god damn hit registration with bullets. It's idiotic whoever thought that this was a good idea needs to be demoted.
2:06 it wouldn't make sense to be the lost city of Hebeth, sice even dr hayden said it was from before our time as the slayer - as in, we wouldn't have been there when what happened, happened.
Im very upset with the mandatory ray tracing on pc. Also the glory kills look anemic. Doom eternal could be ran on a potato but yet dark ages is going to literally require at minimum 8gb vram, a 3700x, and mandatory ray tracing? What about optimization? Whyyyyyyyyy

Yeah this is a lost on id’s side for sure. I have to upgrade just to play this one and Eternal was optimized like crazy.
@@RipNteargaming It's not about optimizations, Eternal was a crossgen game, DA it's not. You need more power for large areas and tons of enemies.

The modifiers in the menu will let you adjust the speed of the gameplay so it’ll be up to you on how fast or slow you want it.
