    Restoring a carnival ride requires lots of temporary parts storage. See the entire project series here: ua-cam.com/play/PL9JRE2uksm9tonX17TZt38K6RH2EnDNf1.html

    I totally LOLed when you were talking about the ever evolving and growing pile of tools as the project progresses.

    Thanks for going the extra mile to make custom bins for the bigger cases as well. I use both quite a lot, especially going forward, so I greatly appreciate you making and sharing these with the world! :)

    Pete - Thanks for the help. Glad to finally get the files.

      The entire download process is automatic. A download link is emailed to you immediately at checkout and probably ended up in your spam folder. I have just resent the receipt.

      Oh, not to worry I appreciate your enthusiasm! This whole shop cleanup was due to the carnival ride restoration. Lots more to come on that project!

    You could print the feet separately and have them key into a triangle or rectangle shaped hole on the bottom of the print. A little super glue would make it permanent. :)

    Cool magnet thing!

    • @PeteRondeau
      @PeteRondeau  2 роки тому

      It comes in handy but when using it to clean off the mill or my band-saw it tends to induce a residual magnetic field into the machine itself and some of the filings want to stick. But that is a minor issue compared to the benefits it offers. Thanks for Watching!

    I’m in Canada & here it’s Princess Auto. I walked in one day to make a purchase of something else and they had these sortation cases on for $12.99 on “clear-out”, never seen them in there before that day & I picked up 9 which was all I could afford that day. I wanted more, & borrowed money to go back the next day but the rest were gone. I look for them every time I go back but they never have them, it makes me so sad, wish I could get more :(

    Looks like the Lulzbot Green isn't available except through other brands with a similar Ryobi green color. When you click the Amazon link in the description store link seems to have taken it off completely. Might need to just take a chance on one of the other brands if I want a match. I'm currently using a yellow to match the HF case bin inserts for now.

    hi pete i was just looking at my project searching for lights for the top on line, and come up empty. the co. has gone out of busness. i was wondering the 3d printer will it print out clear color plastic to use for lights on a police car? thanks steve

      @PeteRondeau  3 роки тому +1

      If you use a translucent filament to print you can have some success with this. The light will pass through it, but you will see the imperfections caused by the individual layer lines. I've got a video coming up where I will be making lights for a ride by molding and casting from an original.. if you have at least one good original light, I believe that is the better option.

    Pete, is there anyplace that sells these bins pre made for those who do nut 3d print?

    • @PeteRondeau
      @PeteRondeau  2 роки тому

      There are places that do 3D printing for hire. I’m sure given the files they would be happy to print them. I don’t know what it might cost though. Most 3D printing service cost is based on print time more than material cost and these take a while to print- especially the larger ones.

    If you have not learned Order always turns in to Chaos. You will never I mean never be able to get on top of that, you will always just through the tools on the bench and say I'll get to that tomorrow. But tomorrow never comes, but once the benches are full and no place else to through your stuff you will re-clean the bench and the cycle will repeat it self over and over.

    I am not sure why you needed the taper. I have the Stanley version of these bins and there was no difference between the lay out of the index for the feet or the lid. I simply created a parametric model with a tall and short version and they print and fit just fine for the deeper box.

    • @PeteRondeau
      @PeteRondeau  2 роки тому

      The sides of the case have the same taper. If I print them with straight sides they will be tight at the bottom and gaps at the top. If I make them so they all touch at the top, they will jam and not go all the way in the case.

    • @kellizielinski9633
      @kellizielinski9633 2 роки тому

      @@PeteRondeau I assumed these were stanley knock offs my case sides are straight. Also the included bins have a bit of play in them both at the top and bottom. I would think if you undersized them just a bit they would fit with straight sides. Less design work that way.

      Yes! I'm familiar with him, I've been subscribed to him for years. And we both did something similar- We both wanted to get rid of a lot of different types of containers and standardize on one type of storage. Where we differ is that I wanted the option to be mobile- my bins fit in portable cases, while he wasn't concerned with the mobility and went with a drawer approach. But yes, he has printed a ton of bins!
