Thank you very much for sharing all those memories with us. I was an exchange student in NJU xianlin campus from September to February 2020, but all my friends and I had to leave the country between the first and the second semester because of the virus. It feels so good to see our university again ❤️❤️❤️
I was a foreign student there in 1996 and 1997. There was one campus and by law we had to stay in a dorm for only foreigners, who consisted of mostly Koreans. The building was the Xiyuan off of Shanghai Lu.
Hi Carina! Great video! Can you do more videos about the NNU University? Maybe a dorm tour or a campus tour, o tell us your experience. I will study in that university very soon and I am pretty excited.
Hi! I am no longer at Nanjing University, so unfortunately I can't make more videos. But in this video, I did give a tour of the dorms, it starts at 12:50 minutes
@@notyujin4942 They offer English taught classes in many subjects. As for the Mandarin language classes, teachers in the lower levels will use a little English to explain concepts to students, but in intermediate and advanced levels the teachers don't use English to explain. Hope that helps!
Hi ! I just discovered your channel because I'm thinking about doing an exchange semester in NJU when I will be in an engineering school in France. I have questions about your video : - you often pay with your campus card or your phone using Alipay. Does it mean that, when you came in China, you opened a chinese bank account ? If yes, do you charge your campus card with cash only or you can directly transfer money from your account to your campus card ? Is Alipay connected to your account ? - Do you have chinese friends ? Is it easy so communicate with them when you're a foreigner ? - How many classes do you have per day ? Do you choose it or it's choosed for you ? Sorry if it's too many questions :3 And sorry if my English is a bit bad Great video ! :)
Thanks for your questions! Happy to answer :) 1. On campus some things can only be paid with the campus card, for example food at the cafeteria. Most things can still be paid with Alipay or WeChat on campus too. To reload the campus card, I had to take out cash and then have a staff member put the money into the card. When I arrived to NJU, the school gave me papers to present at the bank and open a student checking account. Alipay and WeChat (both are payment methods) are connected to the bank account you open in China. Very convenient. 2. I did make some Chinese friends. I met them when I joined some extracurriculars and school clubs! At first I felt it was hard to make friends with them because my Chinese wasn't great and their English wasn't great. But as time went on, my Chinese and confidence grew, and I found some Chinese friends who were patient with me while speaking and helped me! 3. I had 3 classes on average per day. I had the chance to choose them all. Keep in mind that I only studied there 1 year, and all credits from this year were transferred to my university degree in Canada. Happy to answer more questions! :)
Hi! I'm planning to go to this university next year and i would love to know how you managed to apply for the courses and so on. Thank you for you video ! 😊
I have some questions. I'm planning study there~ First, you can study the whole career there? I don't have a HSK4 so probably I would have to take a Chinese course, but the Chinese course is before the career or while you're doing the career? Second, it was very difficult enter? I have good grades but is not something amazing, I'm just wondering if they ask you have very good grades or not (my average is 8.5 out of 10). thank you!
Hi Carla! Yes, you can study your whole career there. I only studied there 1 year, took my business classes in English and Chinese language classes. Sorry I don't know if you'll need to take Chinese classes before or during your studies. You should reach out to the university's Institute for International students ( hwxy.nju.edu.cn/_t486/main.htm ). I was accepted into Nanjing University via my Canadian university so I have no idea about necessary grades to be honest... My Canadian university managed my application to Nanjing University.
Is there a way to contact you because I m going to study there starting september and I was hoping some advice :) thank you so much for this video btw ;)
I thought it was really easy to make foreign friends since I lived in an international students' dorm. It's a little harder to make Chinese friends if you're not taking classes with them or if you don't join extracurricular clubs.
@@carinazambrano9710 I do agree with you~!It is very easy to become friends with international students. If you can speak Chinese, many Chinese students are willing to be friends with you. Chinese people are very friendly
Yes! It's super cheap though. A few cents per day or a couple dollars per month! It might be more expensive now, not sure. But must still be really cheap:)
May I know the subjects you choose? What grade or year are you when you start your journey as an international student in China? In everyday live or maybe weekly or monthly, how much money should we have? Also, the Cost of living. As a 1st timer international student, are they going to teach you mandarin chinese or there is a particular subject? Sorry my English is bad hehe
I took Mandarin classes (oral, writing and comprehensive), some finance classes, an economics class, a human resources classes and other business classes. I studied all of 3rd year of university in Nanjing. As for how much to spend each day, it really depends on how much you eat out or go travelling... also I had scholarships which covered my living expenses, so it's hard to say...sorry! You can choose to study Mandarin or not. I suggest you do because it's way easier to live there knowing the language.
How did I find the dorms? All international students have the option of living on campus, all in one building. But some few students decided to rent a room/apartments outside of campus. In my opinion, living on campus is much more convenient and fun.
Your question reminds me a question undergraduates at this university who came from Jiangsu province received most: which nanjing university are you studying in?

Yup I wish all Chinese students also have beautiful dorms , China so rich they should start building new dorms now
Then go to Tsinghua university, there the dorms look beautiful. The thing is just if you're smart enough to go there.
