how to calculate the volume of a circular pool. Pi (3.14) times radius squared. then multiply that by the average depth. that will give you the volume in square feet. then multiply by 7.5 because there are 7.5 gallons of water in a square foot, and you have it. the volume of a circular swimming pool (or spa)

Little One figure out the area of the circle, then triangle and subtract out the triangle (if I understand your question correctly).

I think the radius is a total distance around the circumference the diameter is half the radius

Sam, to find the outside length (or circumference) the formula is C=2*Pi*r. r is your radius (half the diameter). Lets say you had a 3' radius it would be C=2*3.14*3' so your circumference (or the feet around your tank) would be 18.84. I hope that helps

How would you do this in inches.
For example: I need to fill my 33’ round pool 2 inches. So I need to know how many gallons of water.
Do the same calculations to find the surface area, and then for depth do 2/12 (it's about 0.17 feet).
Will it be the same formula if it is an oblong?

There are 28.3 liters in a cubic foot. There are 7.48 gallons (but I use 7.5 for easy math)

I would check out a conversion chart for liters to gallons. There are 7.48 (about 7.5 gal) per square foot

It’s how many gallons are in a cubic foot (technically it’s 7.48 but in the pool industry we round up for easy numbers).
I made a smoker/grill that is 24"x48" I get asked a lot about how many gallons it is and I always tell them I don't know. Can you help me out? Thanks and have a great day.
I'm going to need some more information. Is it a barrel shape? What dimension is the long side, and what is the circle part?

So first we will take the inches and make them feet. 10" is 8.33' also at 48" long that's 4'. The equation to find the area of an octogon is AREA = 2(1+the square root of 2) "a" squared. In our case "a" is .833. That equals about 3.35 sqft. We mutiply that by 4' long to get a volume of 13.4 cubic feet. There is 7.48 gal per cubic foot. That is 100.232 gallons in your smoker.

My pool is a round 18x4 and for the life of me I just can’t figure it out. I did what you did and it came closer to 24,000 gallons. Google says multiply it this certain way and it comes to 7,630 gallons. When I google how many gallons is in my pool it says 6,424 gallons. I’m totally lost here lol
As you could probably guess math was NOT my strongest subject 😅
7630 is going to be the total volume possible in your pool, but you won't keep it full to the brim, so the 6,424 number is probably the best to use for your chemical addition calculations

Same concept. Calculate the surface area of your circle, multiply by depth to get volume then just do the ratio of your measurement units to liters.

It would b more appropriate if u converted this squre foots into meters and then this area into liters of water capacity.
You can also do those conversions if you need to. In America we typically use gallons as our unit of measurement so that's what I went with. I bet you could make a helpful video for others on how to do the conversion.

@@garyface3400 12' round is 6' radius. 6 squared times pie is about 113 square feet. That's the surface area of the top of the water. If it's 33" deep, that's 2.75'. Multiply depth by surface area to get 310.75 cubic feet of water. There are 7.48 gallons of water per cubic foot (rounded up to 7.5) we get 2330.625 gallons of water. I hope that helps!
