Thank you much, this helped. New to owning a pool and had no idea how much chemicals to put in. Your instructions were awesome.

I love it when someone comes in to my store and i ask
" Is the face plate for your skimmer square or rectangular?"
      "Square!"
      Me pointing at both options.
"Which one does yours look like?"
"The one on the left, the square"
      - me looking at them, noticing the one on the left is a rectangle.
"Ah, you got it boss. A typical square with two sides longer than the others . The long square, if you will. "

6:14. Surface area of a circle is pi x radius x radius. Not diameter x diameter.

But what if my pool is 70 by 24 and the deep end is 7 1/2 ft for 2/3 of the pool and 4 ft for 1/3 of the pool how do you figure average depth ?

Amount of water in a cubic ft. But majority of people, including books by pool manufacturers round up, using 7.5.
      Rectangular (not square) pool.
      16x32 3.5 shallow 8 deep end
      16×32×5.75×7.5= 22080

    your deep ave on your free form is wrong. you have 4.5, but add 3 and 8 = 11 / by 2 is 5.5, LOL so lets review! you have 23/3 x 15 x 4.5 x 7.48 =3870.9 not 4731

      No, there are 3 depths...3' at top, 8' in middle, and 3' at bottom. So 3 + 8 + 3 = 14, 14 / 3 = 4.67 for average depth.
      23/3 x 15 x 4.67 x 7.48 = 4017 gallons.

avg dept is 3' (min) + 8' (max) = 11' div. by 2 = 5.5 He did 3' and 6' but that was supposed to be the width.
      L (7.6666666667') x W (15') x Avg Depth (5.5') x 7.48 = 4,731.1
