The BMW 1250 RT is VERY under rated! I agree with most of the others except the Tracer. If you want to be blasted in the face with loud turbulent air on an all day tour, then it's great. And then there's the chain driven bikes. Who wants to tighten and clean their chain in a hotel parking lot on a long tour?? The Tiger GT is great! I test drove one. The V4 looks great. But the others are uncomfortable on long trips.
Oh my, I guess UK WOULD have a different list then here in the States. Harley ULTRA Glide Limited, Honda Goldwing, BMW K1600’s as well as the RT 1300 to name a Few, Indian has a few models as well, IMO YOUR List wouldn’t work here in US.
Alex, someone needs to reach out to Noraly (ITCHYBOOTS) about changing her bike. She currently has the Honda CRF300 RALLY and although only a burnt out clutch, fuel line leaks, she may be looking at changing it to a higher CC after riding the Ducati Desert X recently in Spain. Although, that maybe a bit too heavy for her if it falls over and needs to be picked up. Maybe worth you to give her a few bikes to try one after the other to test. Maybe even a DCT gearbox option to rule out a potential clutch plate issue?
We are about 40 years from electric being good for touring whether car or bike. They are only reliable if you own a house and never go more than 100km from home. The problem with electric is that the stated range is not the range you are going to get. That range is likely based on doing the speed limits. Traffic is typically 40-50 over the speed limits these days and the faster you go the faster your battery drains. Just like a gas car, except with a gas car you pull into one of 15 million gas pumps and drive away 5 mins later with a full tank. That battery is gonna take you about 5 hours to recharge, assuming you can find a decent charger and it actually works.
Stats were great, I only have a 30 inch inseam and I am coming off a Harley streetglide, what would be the easiest for ride height so I can touch the floor?
For Non-Harley, there are many choices. And I have 30 inch as well. Highly recommend Kawasaki Versys 1000 or Suzuki's new GSX 1000 GX, they are both 33 inches but sacks down easily to tip tow. For long distance touring, I personally prefer this high view point. Honda NT1100 has 32 inches but it can be lowered, and it sacks as well. Triumph Tiger 900 GT Low has 29 inches seat height, and BMW F750GS has 30 inches. If you want something big, both Honda Gold Wing and BMW K1600 has 29 inches (but then again, if you are looking something big, nothing beats Harley). Do seat on them, test ride them, and ask about low seat options (they all have it) - before making decision. Cheers!
@@Inked_CR LOL. I road out to the 'tail of the dragon' from my house.. it's about 190 or so miles, one way. it took me 3 and a half hours of straight riding to get there. then i road to the top another 45 minutes riding. I filled up before I left. and filled up again just before i got to the 'dragon'. 2 tanks of fuel. about 10 minutes to fill the tank and on the road again. I filled up again before I got all the way back home. so,, just that one trip lasted about 7 to 8 hours total I filled up 3 times( about 30 minutes). I've been to the dragon 2 times and to the 'SKY WAY' 2 times. it's about 4 hours one way from where I live. HOW MANY TIMES WOULD I HAVE TO RECHARGE the batteries and HOW LONG would it take EACH time? my all day ride would take several days. you need to factor in that the 'tail of the dragon' is a twisty mountain road.. with no charging stations,,,, ZERO,, not a one. there are no gas stations either but I can get almost 200 miles on a full tank if I want. my daily ride to work is a bit shorter,, about 20 minutes one way. but I still would NEVER buy a oversized 'powerwheels',, I'll stick with my rice burner. my truck, my car and my 3 bikes all running at the same time does produce as much CARBON pollution as charging your battery powered JUNK.
@redhytech You're clearly an American, then? It's a given that an electric vehicle wouldn't be sufficient for someone like you. But for most that live in a normal world, 140 miles is more than adequate. Have a good day, sir. I hope you don't moan too much about minor things. It'd suck to be you 🤣
@@Inked_CR America,, FUCK YEAH!,,, lol. ain't nothing but a thing. I'm lucky enough to live close to a mountain area where I can go out and ride. my brother lives in South Florida.. not many hills or curves there and tons of traffic. he came up to Tenn. and I let him borrow one of my bikes to ride for a day. you can't beat getting out on the open road with little traffic and just enjoy the ride. I have a gsx-s750, a gsx-s1000 gt, and a Ducati Monster 900. the Monster is good for a quick run, the S750 is a good daily rider, and the GT is great for long rides.
I can carry extra petrol / gas, enough to more than double my range between stations. Just not possible on Ebikes, and the only reason Ecars work to the capacity they do is because of regenerative braking, which cannot work on bikes. Ebikes are nothing but novelty.
I have always said that electric engines, both cars and bikes, will not be the way forward. Combustion engines will be around for a while yet and alternative fuels are being looked into. I think hydrogen, but the other new fuels being looked at I think will be better.
@@BikeMatters I’m sure it can be done but for example my 12 day trip next month would add 4-5 more days because of all the stops for charging. That’s 4-5 more nights of lodging and food so in that way electric motorcycles end up costing more money in the long run. I’ve ridden a Zero, loved it, it was a lot of fun but I’d just not spend that kind of money on something with a short range and long charging time.
Energica - a 40 charging minute break (just to get it to 80%) every 130 miles - if someone nice will let you plug it in. That is in no way a touring bike.
Electric and touring don't go together!
Electric and city yes! But definitely not Touring give a like if you agree

Thanks for the comment Kyle!
When you started with an electric I had to shut it down, get real.
No versys1000 so this list is not taken seriously
Thanks for a god rewieu but you forget the most allround bike of them all Bmw R 1250 GS 😊
The headlight on the Tracer is brutal and completely puts me off what is a great bike.
Funny list😂
Yamaha FJR 1300ES(if you can get one).
Kawasaki versys 1000 smokes all of these. Interesting.
Really? Compare the price of it to Yamaha.
Great bike!
Would have been nice had you gathered all bikes' stats shown under one table.
The BMW R1250RT should be number 1
For 50% increase in the price competing to Yamaha 9GT…😂
AGREE!!
Agree , n1 gold wing , n2 bmr rt 1250

Surprised to see no BMW GS on the list, but so many to choose from and a good list you have there.
Thanks for the comments!

Electric motorcycle not in my future
You FAILED with the very first bike.
Harsh comment. It‘s an excellent bike and recharges quickly.
140 miles is more than enough for touring. You sound like you've never ventured outside of a 50-mile radius 😂

Might be OK in the city, but after touring, it’ll be a whole different plan to go on one of them things forget it
The first electric bike is no good. You want to go first whole different plan right distance so that thing be aggravating.
Just so surprising Honda so far down the list - is the hallowed crown slipping?
Naked and touring classes are extremely competitive, normal for brands to go up and down.
I think they slipped a while ago.
Good
And no mention of BMW??? 🤔
Number 9. 1250RT
The electric needs some Solar panels stuck on it . Maybe a paint that can store the suns rays 🤠
Tracer 9 GT is the best sport touring on the market.

Yamaha- there is no substitute. Japanese built perfection. The others are mostly overpriced, overhyped Thailand built posers.
A video about touring and you
start with an electric bike?? I guess if your tour is 50-60 miles??
Check out the Visordown Energica Experia Wales Tour video on UA-cam - me and Toad definitely toured on electric bikes then!

should change it to urban commuter
No on any EV
Electric bikes for touring? You’re joking, right?
Fast forward 15 or so years and they may well be the only options...

I'm out
Some strange views/opinions in there. Looks like you went for image.
No Harley ?
no I absolutly do not agree. Terrible review, how are these touring bikes? Makes absolutely no sense at all. try again buddy
And why so?
Your first bike is a joke, and the price!!
Electric Bikes NO NO NO!
Thousand vs Fousand
Three vs Free?
Thirty vs Firty?
