- Sometime last month I was invited to Sweden to meet the team at Öhlins, see their factory and experience their products on some adventure bikes! Of course I jumped at the opportunity.
I'm not the most technically minded person, my hope for the experience was that I'd be able to understand the difference the upgrades make while riding and I was very happy when the improvement was obvious and immediate - as you can see in this video. Usually when I notice Öhlins on a bike I have a vague understanding of the benefits, and now I can also feel a lot of envy.
The day finished with some good Swedish food, singing in the taxi and then the traditional British welcome of getting stranded in London after all the trains got cancelled.
Love the drawing book fully detailed technical drawings or not you did it were brilliant. Your off road riding commentary was really fun, the one thing no one seems to have told you is momentum is your best friend.
My backyard!! The roads where I started riding 24 years ago - brings backs memories 😊
well done Liz, 💐, great wee video, and your drawings we amazing 🤯🤣, very much looking forward to your next trip, 💐😎🏴👍
Oooh, that's my backroads. I live not far from the factory and recognise almost all of the roads.😊
You lucky guy, I’d love to call those roads home
Good video Liz, And well done you off road on gravel and didn't come off👏,your braver than me, as I've said before just tarmac for me. We're all those clothes freebies, if they were what a lucky gal you are. Take care, Best wishes Roy 😊👍.
Great sketches 😂 I put an ohlins rear shock on my Kawasaki z400, which seems like an overkill for an entry level bike, but I have had it for three years and love it and have no plans to sell it, so I thought I would change the rear shock so it worked with my 8st weight rather than the standard shock that did not a lot. It made my bike even better. I don’t get bounced out the seat any more. I did have the new shock professionally set up for my riding style and weight, which I definitely recommend do that, to make the investment worthwhile.
Hah! i can now go and develop my own Thing In The Background going by your sketches!
Welcome to Sweden, Öhlins is bot very far from me, one of my nephews live only a few km from there.
Hope they teach you how to pronounce it, lol, your countrymen and Americans is absolutely killing the pronunciation haha, now I will watch the video.
Ok ok, i heard a couple of different pronunciations - how should i be saying it?
@@R1_Liz Kind of like OE put together, when you were in Austria you might have heard them say Österriech, or in germany, they would say Öl for oil.
I would think they would tell you when you visit the factory. This is not a complaint by the way, just constructive critisism.
Cheers
@@R1_Liz The letter ö is pronounced like the u in turn/burn or like the ea in earn.
So "örn" in Swedish is pronounced the same as "earn" in English.
Örn however means eagle. ;)
The i in "lins" is long so it would be pronounced more like "leans".
So you can essentially replace the Or in Orleans (as in New Orleans) with Ö so it becomes Öleans and be more or less spot on. xD
Say errlins
Lucky girl! Well done
Great video and I am sure visiting Ohlins factory was an amazing experience. Still wondering what the top secret thing was :P :P... Being a road user myself, can never understand the fascination with off road but then everyone likes different things. Kudos to you for doing so good on the bikes..
You need to stop worrying so much and enjoy the opportunity you had going to Ohlins. Good video
I’m working on the worry thing - it’s an ongoing battle 😅
Bit of a drama queen there Liz but you did good👍 Said it before but you just need to get a bit of off road training. Then its going to be fun. Enjoyed the content. Cheers
It's more interesting to hear what you think about the difference between upgraded and standard than hearing a pro offroader describe it. Probably more relevant for most of us 🙂
If I can feel the benefits then everyone else definitely can 😄
Well done Liz, just ride your own ride😊😊
Awesome 👍🏻
Unfortunately the camera was pointing a bit too low on the riding footage. The horizon was often out of frame or just barely visible at the top of the screen. A nice sunny ride through the Swedish countryside in any case, I'm envious.
Yep, I know - sorry! I had clearly hit the zoom in button by accident and only realised when I got home (the whole day I thought it was just the riding position causing it). Sweden was beautiful, I’ll obviously have to go back and film again
I don't wanna see you fall off!. I wanna see you get more confident grow your skills off road, become a demon doing it. Then one day you'll be like pffft that was easy, Im a silly Lizzy. Im gonna do the Dakar rally now.
Though falling off is part of learning, doing it with style is the trick. Your dad has that down :)
You are a lucky girl!! How did you get the invite?
Hope the bike and all felt a lot better when you changed it to Gravel mode instead of the initial Sport. 😉
You know when you’re super overwhelmed and forget the really obvious things right in front of you? That is me, every day 😂
@@R1_Liz Sweden - it has that effect on people. 😎
👍
That hand rail on the stairs makes me want to sell my bungalow and buy a house just to have one.
You could turn it into a big door handle? I forgot to photograph a lot of the office accessories made out of suspension parts - like pencil holders 😭 so cute’
The orange on your plate there in the end was rom, fish eggs.
Delicious 😁
Top secret looks like a valve body 😊
It was something - that section of the tour was one of my favourite bits - a table of prototypes made out of strange materials that were all very nice to pick up and play with and not being able to photograph them was very annoying but totally understandable
I think the standard transalp was really bad set up for you, they're not that bad from factory.
The orange ball next to the toast was probably vendace row, it's a delicacy.
It made me wonder if the bike had been sabotaged 😂 the fish egg toast was very tasty and i have a new appreciation for meatballs
PROPER.
great video, but was there a problem with the camera? is it supposed to be that zoomed in?
Yep that’s my bad I hit the zoom button and didn’t realise 🤦♀️ one mistake I’ll never make again
23 сек. У нас стояли бы мраморные бордюры...)))
Hi From North of Sweden
Hi from the south of England 😅 I’ll be back
👋😘
Record the video in 60Hz.
God you jet setter you 😂
Do you wash the starch off your rice?
What
как же скучно кататся на этих великах по стране где нет веселого бездорожья и сопутствущих приключений с ним
Great vid ... sketchy trails and amazing sketches ... topped off nicely with a little food porn 😄🩷
We love a bit of food porn
