  • In this video, I spend an overnighter on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Ucluelet has some fantastic landscape photography opportunities especially along the Wild Pacific Trail the follows some of the most gorgeous coastlines in Canada.

A very revealing video, Adam. You plan as much as you can, but you're never promised ideal conditions. Some viewers don't understand that. The real challenge is to make something of what you find "out in the field", and that's where your artistic abilities to see the less obvious really shine! Thanks for showing us the other side of landscape photography, and how the great shots are really to be treasured! Your collection of images from this trip look great, especially when we can see how much work went into capturing them!!

Love the fog shots. Gives the dramatic look, even though a bit of artistic licence was used on the fog. The first one with the fog rolling in was my favourite.

Through one reason and another I’ve missed your videos over the last few weeks, which is a bit of a bummer. The good news is I have three or four to catch up on, which I think I will spread out over the next week to spread out the enjoyment.
Superb video Adam, you and Andrew Marr certainly stand out from from the crowd when it comes to the quality of your productions. The music certainly complimented the day and everything that was happening. Wonderful and inspiring images as always, thank you Adam for the time and effort you put into these little videographic masterpieces.

Loved that tree trunk shot, Adam. I think it would work in black-and-white too. Funny comment below about the Yorkshire tea. I drink the same brand but the 'Extra Strong' version. Absolutely stunning Adam! Rode my Moto bike down Maggie's Rd (Hidden beach) before you reach the turn off towards Ucuelet & Tofino intersection... u can find some really nice off the path dirt roads down there leading to some potential picturesque locations (will need to hike in to get to beaches further on) also I have only explored a small amount...its inland from Ucuelet. There are also some interesting dirt roads before reaching Kennedy lake I personally have not explored yet ...there's a few nice trails I think around there I imagine. I also imagine you have already bin there many times lol. So many trails around Kennedy lake...anyways cheers!

Enjoyable as always Adam, near the end you hit the nail on the head about what landscape photography is all about. When the light isn't co-operating "Keep trying". Ultimately in landscape photography stubborness pays off, and the more you try, the more you get out of it.

That is a beautiful stretch of coast. Sometimes you just have to shrug your shoulders and just enjoy being there knowing that the light isn’t going to happen for you. I ran into the same kind of scenario on a camping trip on the Oregon coast just a few days ago. Enjoyed a nice hike around the Heceta lighthouse but flat light and the work being done on the lighthouse lenses killed any chance of any really good comps. Only slightly diminished the experience of hiking there and enjoying the scenery. There’s always a next time. Cheers Adam!

I'm certainly no Instagram expert but I had a quick look and my instant reaction was to perhaps limit your images. Great video - love Ucluelet! We actually crossed paths that very morning right there! I had only subscribed to your channel for a couple of weeks beforehand, and you cemented my desire to escape the heat of Portland and I decided Ucluelet and Tofino - and we crossed paths... said "good morning" or such, and 5 minutes later, I wondered, "is that Adam Gibbs? How crazy would that be?" Kept an eye out to see if you did a video on Ucluelet, and lo, you did! I was there from pre-dawn, and it was socked in fog, but it did open up briefly - I did get some nice shots, but like you, found the fog rolled back in quite quickly.
