You’re doing the best you can. Most important thing is to take good care of yourself. We’ll be here.

Hi Ellen... sorry to hear that you're sick, always a bummer when that happens. Your creativity is usually at its lowest. Wearing masks and socially distancing for the past year has avoided colds, flu and covid so far, but no shows, conventions or anything else as well. Getting to topic here, I've thought seriously about starting a channel on UA-cam, but what keeps stopping me is "content" and "consistency". I'm usually good out the gate, but then I drop off rapidly, so I've been hesitant about starting a channel. Same thing applies to most of my social media, except for LinkedIn, I work that daily and have gotten some commissions from it. I'm retired so I'm not dependent on steady income, though the extra always helps. I do my art for myself and if I pick up a few jobs along the way, so be it. Always looking forward to hearing from you. Get well!

Thanks for the well wishes, John 😊 UA-cam is a great way to connect with people, but because I lack consistency it doesn’t do my channel any favors for sure! Always good to hear from you!

Hiya, I'm glad you're feeling better and continue to improve. Thank you for sharing your insights; I'm like you in that I only like to post on Social Media when I feel what I have to say is relevant or interesting! I get so hooked up in the "you must post every day" that it makes me feel anxious and that's not what I'm about. I create art for myself and if someone likes it that's wonderful, if not then so be it. I'm also a Wellbeing Mentor and getting stressed out about Social Media content isn't going to help me help others either! I love what you do, I've been following you on FB for a couple of years now xx

Hi Ellen! I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve been sick. Hoping and praying that you are on the mend. This video came at a good time for me. I’ve been binge watching your videos as of late, because I’ve been in pretty bad need of some solid, practical advice for artists. First of all, I’m not a professional artist. I do enjoy drawing and I consider myself an artistic person, but I’ve been struggling a lot with feeling like I don’t have the skill to pursue it as a career or the time to practice in order to get to that place. I’m a wife and mother of two that homeschools. My mother lives with us due to her health. So I find myself increasingly frustrated at my lack of ability to carve out time for art and for making videos. I recently watched your video on art fear, and I totally can relate to that as well. When I do get time to draw, I’ve been so let down with the result. Just wondering if you have kids of your own, or perhaps any situations that cause an extreme time draw that leaves you feeling like you struggle with finding time to create and some possible pointers for dealing with those situations? I’ve never commented before, and I know you’re not feeling great, so if you can’t get back with me, I understand. Just putting it out there.

Hi, Cassie ❤️ Thank you for your thoughtful comment here. I am sorry you're struggling with your creative process. When I'm short on time I feel there is so much added pressure to 'do it right' when I do sit down, and if that doesn't happen it just makes things worse. If that's similar to how you're feeling then I can relate, as I'm sure a lot of others can as well.
I find it much easier to sit down with a plan than to sit down and just see what happens. I simply cannot just create on a whim because I have SO many ideas, it's like they all get top priority and then I can't narrow down what I want to do. If I'm really short on time, I will set a schedule as to what I can accomplish in small bursts of time. If I have 15 minutes to work on something new, I will commit to say, just outlining my design, then before I get up, think about what comes next and then do that the next time. Having steps like this put into place not only makes me feel like I'm fulfilling small achievements, but it also gives me something to look forward to. It probably sounds very basic but it works for me. Good luck and thank you for your question!

@@EllenBrennemanStudio This is an amazing reply, Ellen, thank you! The struggles you have, with having so many ideas and finding it difficult to create on a whim, are so similar to what I deal with. I absolutely have that pressure to “do it right”. I will take your suggestions on board and see if they work for me. You gave me some solid advice, and I do appreciate it! Hope you are continuing to feel better, and thanks again!
