One more note.... Walter definitely knew the police were there listening in on his phone call. This is why he acted like a complete monster making his wife look like the scared "victim" of his crimes. "Walt... you should stop... this is illegal...." He wanted to be sure his wife would avoid any real trouble and maybe rebuild her relationship with her sister.
Good to know he had a shred of humanity left…
@@kai_masters He literally begged for Hank's life and was willing to give Jack all of his money. The line "his name is Hank.." is so underrated and sweet too.
@@BredToUpsetby the end of the episode, he realized that all he did for the good of his family only hurt them.
I am surprised how many seem to misunderstand the call to Skyler...
Anna Gunn’s expression as Skylar as she realises that Walt is taking all the blame with the call is amazing acting.
he left her at a fire station because in America "US Safe Haven Laws" allow a parent to anonymously surrender their unharmed infant to a designated Safe Haven provider fire stations, and fire stations are just one of several nationally designated providers.
I didn't know the _Safe Haven Laws_ off of the top of my head, but when Andrea was asking "why a fire truck?" I was thinking how I just inherently know how fire stations are the safest places to leave a baby you're anonymously relinquishing care of. Probably because I've seen it in other shows and movies before?
Because of the mother's that throw their newborns in a dumpster
I'm not even American, but I somehow already knew this, despite not knowing the law itself. I guess via story tropes as another commenter suggested.
*He blames Jesse for Hanks death. That’s why he was so cold towards him*
Walt had a much greater hand in Hanks death than Jesse did
@@kai_masters Had Jessie not got involved with Hank no one would got killed
@@fannybuster exactly. Had Jesse not sent Walt on a wild goose chase, Walt wouldn’t have had to emergency call Jack for the assist. Thus ending in Hank and Gomez dying
Walt loves putting all the blame on Jesse when they're both equally to blame
@@kai_mastersnot really if Jesse has of Just left then Hank would still be alive
Also if if Jesse didn’t try to kill 2 of Gus’s dealers then Walter wouldn’t of
Had to save Jesse and Walter wouldn’t of ruined his relationship with Gus which would mean Hank would likely still be alive
If you haven’t watched the finale don’t read the rest of my comment as it has a spoiler in it
And it’s likely as long as Walter didn’t do anything else to make Gus not trust him then Walter would of kept working for Gus until ether he pasted away or quit and both Walter and Gus’s never would of been caught so Skyler would of been able it keep the house and Walter junior would of still seen had dad as a good man that pasted away and this would also mean Mike would still be alive
I love that you reacted to Marie finding out Hank is gone. I think it’s one of the most powerfully emotional moments of the series that is often overlooked.
That was one of the most devastating moments for me
Agreed 100%.
@@kai_masters for sure, Marie & Hank had their issues but you can tell they did truly and deeply care for one another.
Kai, when I saw this episode back in the day it knocked me for a loop. I think I hurt the most for Walter Jr.. As much as I loved Hank, Walter Jr. was a young man that loved his dad. He will need therapy for the rest of his life. Gotta give a standing ovation to all the actors but most of all Bryan Cranston, who gave 150% and the performance of his life. Well done Sir, well done
I felt pain for so many characters in that episode 😥
This episode goes down as the hardest to watch in the entire series. The whole cast definitely brought their "A game". In fact both Bryan Cranston and Anna Gunn won a well deserved Emmy for this episode. It was so traumatizing for Anna that she needed therapy after acting out these scenes.
Side note - the scene where Holly kept saying "mama", she was talking about her REAL mother who was standing just outside of the camera angle when they shot this scene. The director however was smart enough to leave it in the final cut.
I believe that Betsy Brandt has said she's never seen it all the way through.
Wow! It’s incredible to hear how deeply the episode affected the actors in their real lives. It was beyond stressful just to watch 🫨
@@EricAKATheBelgianGuy Wow! I had no idea. I can't blame her.
I could‘ve save her but I didn‘t.
Walt said those words because he believes Jesse could’ve save him, but he didn’t.
Greatest episode ever made, thanks to the episodes leading to this. Best show ever ever ever.
I’ve noticed when viewers first one this episode they have brief sympathy for Walt after Hank died BUT it only lasts a matter of seconds until he reminds us of his cruelty with what he does to Jesse
As Walter Jr. was finding out about everything that was going on, and telling Skylar that she was just as bad as Walter, all I could think about was how Skylar had at least a couple of chances for an out from this whole thing. While she was using her divorce lawyer as a therapist and getting some pretty good legal advice on the consequences of staying. Also when the cops showed up to their house and that one officer asked if she knew of anything illegal that Walter was doing.
In real life I think someone like Skylar would've jumped at the chance for either, but had that happened here, we wouldn't have had much of a show after that, would we?
╮(. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)╭
So true!
"Sorry for your loss", Todd is a complete psychopath! Hank getting shot is the absolute worst, he was evolving as the only hero left...
I didn’t think the show would go so far as to kill Hank 😥
@@kai_masters As bad as Walt has been, he really would have given up all the money for Hank to live, a slight shred of humanity is still there…
If you remember, the thing with Jane was Walt knew that letting them go with the money was going to lead to Jesse's death and we all knew it. In that confession he regrets bot saving her. Knowing that would have prevented Hank's death here
Good point, but I think Walt made his “confession” with malice and he was trying to hurt Jesse at that point.
....this episode gets a 10 outta 10 on IMDB, practically unheard-of.........about as perfect as TV gets......enjoyed the reaction. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching! 😊
I just realized that I find it bit a weird that Jack didn't kill Walt, and that Walt didn't denounce them to the police with an anonymous call or within the call with skyler. I guess he was still thinking that he could take back his money.
"I just realized that I find it bit a weird that Jack didn't kill Walt,"
Yeah I have only thought deeply about this recently and I don't see how Walt walked away from that. With Walts dangerous reputation, the amount of Walts money Jack stole, Walts relationship to Hank, Walts knowledge of two dead DEA agents killed by Jacks gang and the fact Jacks gang are cold blooded murderers there is no way Walt would not have been put in that hole with Hank and Gomey. Todd would have got over it.
And then by giving Walt 10 or 11 million dollars he now has the means to fund his revenge fantasy, doesn't make sense. But then again I don't think Walt could have just walked away and said "I'm out" it doesn't work like that, he has seen way too many faces. Sorry but two major plot holes that don't make sense.
Good points! I was surprised that Jack didn’t kill Walt. There’s no way that he wouldn’t have in real life, but the show needed Walt to live longer. I guess they could have ended the show with that episode, but there were too many loose ends to wrap up.
Todd is the reason Jack didn’t kill Walter. He said to Walt that his nephew respected him so he let him live and gave him some money.
Great reaction, again, Andrea! See what I meant? This episode is one of the highest rated in TV history, so you can perhaps now understand why.
And why the poem, 'Ozymandias', is a fitting title.
Episode 16 is nearly as good.
Do not unbuckle. The wild ride has a way still to go...
And then there’s Better Call Saul!
@@kai_masters Which is nearly as good as 'Breaking Bad' [BB], although many actually rate it higher (and it answers many of the issues left unresolved by BB). You'll definitely enjoy it (and it's six seasons long, too) -- but make sure you watch 'El Camino' first. :-)
Greatest episode in TV history!
What an episode! I need a cigarette! 🤣
😂
“Oh no” Andrea
Love you your reactions great Jesse can't catch a break Walt getting what he deserved
Thanks for watching 😊
They were all very ungrateful to Walt when he gave everything for them 😥😥
I don’t think they saw it that way 🤷♀️
Best episode of television EVER. Brutal episode, huh? No mercy, Andrea!
It was brutal!
We've arrived.
😮
To what?
@@jackbauer2772ozymandias! The greatest episode in television history!
@@Josheshenourfilms oh, ok. It’s a great one no doubt, certainly (for me) not the best in TV history but 2 each their own.
Possibly the most impactful hour of television that has ever aired. Did you need a nap afterward?
No, just a glass of wine 😁
Walter was cold to Jesse because he blames Jesse for Hank’s being killed and he was right as if Jesse never became a rat Hank never would of been killed
Also no Walter doesn’t own Jesse anything and Walter didn’t betray Jesse it was Jesse that betrayed Walter when he became a rat Jesse could of just left with the vacuum man and that would mean Hank would still be alive
And Walter knew the police were listening so he made did what she did because she was afraid for her life
Walt and Jesse both played a role in Hanks death
@@kai_masterstrue
@@kai_masters yes both Walter and Jesse had a part in hanks death but when we look at who’s actions contributed the most it was Jesse rating on Walter that led to hanks death
Jesse could of just left with the vacuum man and started a new life and this would mean that’s Broxs mom would still be alive
@dogcat823 true, but the reason Jesse didn't leave is because he found out that Walt poisoned Brock. So you could point to Walt being the cause of that as well...lol
@@kai_mastersJesse is a rat. He deserves worse.
If Jesse didn't rat and get involved with Hank, Hank would still be alive 🤷♂️
Hank also manipulated Jesse into incriminating Walt
kai masters hope you see the movie, it's the real ending
Coming soon…👀
Q. 10:56 🧐
A. 7:32 👍
I always wondered if Walt told Jesse about Jane because he knows Jesse always blamed himself.
This way, even though it sounded horrible as he said it, telling him the truth actually frees Jesse’s conscience over Jane’ death.
I think by not telling him would mean Jesse could go to his grave still believing Jane was his fault.
What would have been cruel was if it really was Jesse’s fault and Walt had covered it up at the time with a lie and now tells him it was his fault all along.
- -
It’s easy to focus on Walt’s tone with Skyler but you can see she figures it out by the things he said - like warning her for a year, how he did everything, mimicking her with a whiny voice with things she never said etc.
- -
Walt took Holly to get the police involved and after the Skyler exonerating phone call he wanted to get her back to Skyler so the fire station was the best.
Tough episode and great performances.
Hank telling Walt he’s “the smartest guy I ever met” was heartbreaking.
Hang in there👍
Fair point about Walt’s confession although at the time, I think he was mostly trying to hurt Jesse
A#2 16:19
Jesse was a rat. Walt was trying to torture him.
The Walt apologists 😂
@@joetamburello6292 actually I’m not fully. I think everyone in the show is super flawed and I actually like Skyler after rewatching multiple times
@@meredithyoung186 never said others weren’t flawed. But you can’t blame Jesse for turning on Walt. Not only did he manipulate him, kill Mike, but he also almost killed Brock
@@joetamburello6292 true but going to the cops is pretty low and it doesn’t seem like it’s in his character

Please new series The walking dead
Great suggestion but I’ve already seen it. Our next show will be Better Call Saul, but we’re taking suggestions for the show after that one!
Kai I'd like to point out that Walter as a father who hasn't had his paternity rights terminated has a right to take his daughter for a drive. It always surprises me when women who watch Walter take his daughter out for a ride always say "he took a child or he took her." That is no random child from the mall, it is his daughter. As a father he has that right under the law. Skyler could have signed the divorce papers and then file to have custody of her, but she didn't. That is her fault not his.
Walt is in his paternal rights to take Holly. However, his status as a dangerous person, especially from Skyler's perspective, made the incident terrifying.
Took his daughter for a drive. hahahha. The Walt apologists are hilarious.
@@sallyatticumwe know he didn't take her for a ride but legally speaking, he didn't kidnap her.
@@sallyatticum Some of these people are genuinely insane.
He's not taking his daughter for a ride, he's attempting to evade arrest and putting her in danger in the process. Stop defending obviously immoral acts.
Walter is a family man. His intentions towards his family members are always pure
I think that he started out that way, but then his ego got in the way.
@@kai_masters He wants to save Hank, He puts all the blame on himself in that phonecall. He's evil to everyone else except his family. Evn when his ego overcomes him, the intentions remain honorable towards his family
@martinnjoroge7867 that's a tough sell. There's two sides to that. Look at what he put his family through, all the pain for losing Hank. Maybe they'll get the 10 million from Gretchen and Elliott and, that's not going to bring Hank back.
in my opinion walt didnt owe jessie anything because jessie's actions inadvertently got hank killed not to mention he was a rat.
I feel like Walt had a much bigger role in Hanks death than Jesse
Finally someone says it!
@@kai_mastersI have to disagree if Jesse never rated on Walter Hank would of still been alive
@@dogcat823 Jesse created the situation leading to Hank's death, but Walt cooking meth is what got Hank involved to begin with.
