That's why you see alot of tattoos on dark skin looking green and faded even when it was just done hours before. There are some tattoo artists that create color palettes based on skin tone.

Bianca Jingles you really shouldn’t disrupt the scabbing it should fall off on its own, wash cloths are bad for fresh tattoos since they remove peeling skin you should only rub gently with your hands. Also indented lotion shouldn’t be used at the peeling stage I recommend aquafer with is an ointment that hydrates the skin and you shouldn’t drown it in ointment either

This means, as the tattoo heals and the melanin replenishes itself, it's going to cloud over the ink. Black is the only pigment that will show through such heavy melanin.

A piece this big, people usually wait two weeks per session, depending on the artists schedule. It's a litte unusual to get this done over 5 days, but like Revina said, this was just time management because Buzzfeed was paying for it.

Unfortunately you can tell these guys don't tattoo dark skin very often. The artist spent 4-5 hours adding white ink, which will be gone in a month. He also used lighter grey shading for details. Give it 6 months, those details will be non existent. Although this guy can tattoo good, he made some rookie mistakes.

I received a total of nine Sak Yant tattoos from a Buddhist monk who had been doing them for more than twenty years. Went to see him with Thai friends, outside of Chiang Mai in northern Thailand. It was all Thai people there. I was the only westerner. There were no tourists. The monk questioned me before agreeing to tattoo me. Using a long metal spike called a “Khem Sak”. The cost is a donation of what I think they are worth to me. A LOT less than $2,000.00. Very painful to get. Namo Buddhaya 🙏🏼 ☸️

Malika Thueler no. If you shine light directly on my tattoos you can’t see them as well, another thing about dark skin, it’s very reflective of light. When I take pics in indirect light, you can see the details.
Im coming at this in a good way. Lots of darker skin people might think tattooed they get might not be visible enough but imo that's the beauty of it. Take this guy, for example, the subtleness of the tattoo is amazing on him. it is also my opinion that darker sin people look better with tattoos than people with lighter skin

As a man who has 32 tattoos and the longest I have sat for a tatt is 6 hours, I commend this dude for doing 5 days straight of getting inked.
It starts getting rough after about 4 hours. I did a 10 hour session on my chest and throat and it felt like id been through a war.

Speaking from experience i dont use the stuff that much but numing cream woulda helped so much i used it on my throat and it was gravy baby!

They need ppl who can light dark skin. The lighting in the room made the tattoo hard to see. Anyone know his Instagram? I want to see it better

Malika Thueler no. If you shine light directly on my tattoos you can’t see them as well, another thing about dark skin, it’s very reflective of light. When I take pics in indirect light, you can see the details.
@@thexvault it's still harder to see them as there is less contrast with your skin, but they probably could have done better
Im coming at this in a good way. Lots of darker skin people might think tattooed they get might not be visible enough but imo that's the beauty of it. Take this guy, for example, the subtleness of the tattoo is amazing on him. it is also my opinion that darker sin people look better with tattoos than people with lighter skin

For a piece that large and detailed, good price.
Flat rate, basic artists charge at least $100 per hour, good ones are $300+. It gets lower for longer sessions usually, but this is a great price.
