I have one of those machines which I haven’t used yet. Thank you for showing me another clever way of using it. Here in Australia when I was growing up we always called erasers, rubbers. Then the word became known to mean something else so people started calling them erasers. I still call them rubbers at times without thinking. 😊
That was so helpful Christine, I'm just looking at getting a foiling machine and all tips are truly appreciated. Have a wonderful day and hope you are still enjoying your holiday xxx
Thankyou so much. Ive also been following Pia Krogh-Larsen . She used release paper for dies. I used baking parchment worked just as well. Haven't tried using the same piece over yet. You and she are creative experimentors.
You are so amazing … always such the problem solver! Love that about you. How in the world you ever even thought to use the the acetate is beyond me … & it makes such a difference.
Hi Christine,,late comment I know but I have just brought a hot foil machine looked up your wonderful explanation with the thin acetate with regular dies ,,,I have just had a play and this worked brilliantly,, I have also tried with wax paper this also works 😊 thankyou for this video it has helped me tremendously love all your videos x x
Wow wow. I just got this machine from my daughter for Mother’s Day. Thank you thank you for all the awesome tips. Especially, how you can use your regular dies and the acetate trick. And I have to say eraser in 🇨🇦 but to be honest I like the sound of rubber better. I had such a laugh. 😂
I just started foiling on my new Glimmer machine. I learn so much from your videos. Never saw anyone use projector sheets with dies. Must try that. I have also used the back of the dies as well as metal and plastic stencils to foil. Stencils give beautiful backgrounds. Looking forward to more videos on foiling from you!
Waauw outlining stenciks with tgat pen is an amazing idea, tgx somuch. Cannot believe you can write beautiful with it i cannot make that happen, not even tracing lovely printed words 😫
Hello Christine. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this video! I remember when I tried foiling from a die, and was sooo excited with the results! I had never seen it done before and was very excited to share the technique on my channel. Only after reading the comments did I learn that this technique was shown by other crafters. I was so bewildered as to how I could have missed those foiling videos since I am ALWAYS playing and testing the limits of my supplies and tools...and watching other crafting videos to learn and be inspired. You sound as excited as I was when I thought of a new (or not so new) use for my dies. Your technique of adding projector film definently steps it up to another level...bravo! Thank you for thinking, playing and then sharing your brilliant idea. I love it...and you made me laugh too!
Thanks so much, the business of enhancing the lines from dies was surprisingly successful, it’s funny how things happen. I’m so pleased that you like my humour too! 😍
I treated myself to a glimmer foil system for Christmas this year, I will definitely try this tip and trick. Love your hello and love ombre look! Hugs, Brenda
Ah I love your videos... I don't ever just play and I love that you do it for me... I don't have foil dies but I have loads of others now I can have a play... this is such a cool video thanks so much 💙
Now I understand what you were talking about on Facebook. Trial and error... and then success! Thanks for sharing. I enjoy watching your videos. Very helpfull.
What a wonderful invention - fancy using the old overhead projector sheets! You're FANTASTIC! With modern technology this stuff is sort of outdated BUT you found a very good use for it. Thank you for this video. Lovely and peaceful to watch and listen to. Now I have to find where we hid these sheets at the church.
If you don't find the OHP sheets, I'm sure you could find a substitute material of some description... There are so many plastics of one sort or another knocking around! 😄
Hello, Chrissie! I watched Therese Calvird use your acetate trick last evening during a LIVE and will be so happy to try it myself! You don't say why you first attempted it - can you share that? Thank you! =] Michele
Hi Christine just found this video from a year ago. I am waiting for the Spellbinders Glimmer machine to be delivered. Excited new toy to play with. Can you pretty please get your machine out again and give us some of your tutorials. Cheeky ask I know 😁😁xxxxx
I ordered my glimmer system for my upcoming birthday and am just waiting on my new spellbinders platinum 6 to use it! I've had a cuttlebug forever and this made me want to upgrade. I've recently seen videos of people using dies like this and it has me really excited! 🤩
Another GREAT video!! I can’t wait to get my glimmer system. Maybe for Mother’s Day….. Here’s hoping anyhow. Lol Thank you for all of your videos Chris.
I will try your acetate trick. Will get more mileage out of my dies this way. Thanks for being creative with process as well as design! Have fun with the Glimmer. I don’t add my two top plates until after I disengage the unit. Less slippage that way. I tried the heat resistant tape hinge but wasn’t that keen on it.
Thanks for this... It is a learning curve isn't it! It's quite tricky to disengage the unit, that's why the plates slip about. I'll sort of my method eventually, thanks for your insights!
How much time do you set to foil regular dies Christine? And what temp low, medium or high? I just got a killer deal on a brand new Gemini foil press. (80 cdn or 46 £ 92p) and have been foiling around. (Haha). Your insight is helpful. As always thank you. ❤️
Hi Christine, I just ordered one of those today, then saw your video! So I will be closely following your adventures! One question, why did you put acetate in the mix? My mum used to make me laugh, she used to work for the London Rubber Comapny, back in the day! 🤣 ❤
I have one of those machines which I haven’t used yet. Thank you for showing me another clever way of using it.
Here in Australia when I was growing up we always called erasers, rubbers. Then the word became known to mean something else so people started calling them erasers. I still call them rubbers at times without thinking. 😊
I think we still call them rubbers in the UK🤣🤣🤣
You can also use Baking Paper to get a thicker line too.
I'm in Australia too & am in Regional Victoria 🙂
Husband is at the dentist as I am watching this! 😀 Thank you for sharing this technique! Rubber!!!😂
We have a few different words from the US!!!!
I have debated for two years about getting a foiling machine and I’m still on the fence about it. Thanks for sharing this.
I think I need to get my machine out again! 😊😊😊
I haven't used my machine fore ages because of that reason, using normal dies came out too thin. That is definitely worth trying, thank you !! ❤
Have fun❤️❤️❤️
Ohh please do. Any tip/tricks greatly appreciated. You explain in detail easy to follow (layman's terms). Thanks Julie x
You are so welcome!
That was so helpful Christine, I'm just looking at getting a foiling machine and all tips are truly appreciated. Have a wonderful day and hope you are still enjoying your holiday xxx
Thanks so much Mandy!
Brilliant! Thank you for the tips. It is tricky whether to say some words or not cause their meaning can be misconstrued! 😅😅😅. xxx💖💖💖
So true!😀😀😀

Such an awesome idea - you are such a problem solver. What in the world ever made you think of that solution? Whatever it was - it works beautifully!
Thank you!
So genious, wow 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks ❤️❤️❤️

I have a foiling pen and use it WRITE sentiments and outline stencils etc. I love how you got such a great outline using the acetate. Thanks.
Thank you so much!

Thanks so much, have fun, I must dig mine out again! ❤️❤️❤️
I'm still on the fence with the foiling but it was good watching you have a play.
It seems as slightly better than trying to fill with the Minc machine!

Thank you só much 4 this really brilliant tip!!! Certainly going to try that asap. That will save so much money 😘👍
Have fun 😊
Thanks for the tip
No problem!

You’re so clever! I’ve “just found you” on UA-cam but am enjoying watching your creativity in your videos. Thanks for sharing! Sarah from Tennessee.
That's so good to hear, thank you 😊
@@Chrissieannie I like your clean style and you have a bit of “mad scientist” way with crafting of just trying things. It’s quite refreshing!

Genius! I have tons of overhead transparency film! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
I love it! That is so clever I can't wait to try it, I like how you made a stencil for coloring too.
Thanks so much ❤️❤️❤️

Michele, I'm afraid I often have difficulty remembering why I've walked into a room, so I really don't recall how I first came to do this technique! 🙄
love this thank you
Thank you❤️❤️❤️
Can you please link the blending brushes you have? Your foiling is beautiful
They are simply brushes from eBay!
So many great tips for using my new glimmer hot foil machine. Thank you!

If you are using a regular die, how do you keep it from cutting through?
There's not sufficient pressure to cut through!

I'm sorry I don't know about the Gemini, I have a Glimmer!🤔
i take the die or plate to the cardstock on one side so i have a hinge and then slide the foil in between,
Thanks Maaike, I've seen that done on videos, I haven't got organised to do it yet, I was wanting to sort getting the more definite line first!
Did you make your sheet of colors?
Yes just drew a table in Word!
Your hair looks nice. 😊 I see that you've raided the AV dept. from school before you left. 😢😅😂
My head getting in the way again? I don't know where those sheets came from, I don't think we had an OHP in my school🤣🤣🤣
@Christine Stokes audio visual here. What's an ohp?
Overhead projector

The acetate made the foiled line much more definite and pronounced!
@@Chrissieannie ah, yes I thought that might be it. Thank you so much ❤️
Very clever and most interesting! Does the acetate prevent the die from cutting through?
The die wouldn’t cut through anyway because of the sandwich used… there’s not enough pressure to do that.
Oh dear - I just realized I made almost the same comment 3 months ago when I watched this before - pardon!
You can leave the same comment time and again if it’s a nice one… like yours are!
