Making The Complete Sander/Sandpaper Storage Organizer That You Didn't Know You Wanted

- Right! After taking a bit of a break for my wedding and honeymoon I am back and making the most of my small woodworking workshop.
In this video, I build an organizer and storage unit for my sanders and sandpaper.
The objective was to make it as compact as possible while still being able to store a variety and fair quantity of sandpaper types and grits.
I also needed it to hold my two sanders (belt and orbital) with easy access.
I decided on an open front, wall mount type sandpaper cabinet.

Great ideas. I don't mind how long videos are, I have a grown-up attention span. Would love to see the rest too :)
Haha, thanks! Will add them soon.
Sanding pad applicator is absolutely brilliant. The OCD in me is loving that. Cheers
Its a nice idea but I find it completely useless with his shelf design together. He already built the shelves with the same functionality so there is no point in using the applicator. He could apply discs directly from the shelves instead of removing from the shelf in order to put on the applicator for applying on to the sander. I bet he'll not use it :)
@@ggmegyeri the dowels in the drawers are longer to store more discs. The holes in the sander aren't deep enough to reach all the way to the bottom of the drawer.
@@WoodshopJunkies I noticed that too. You could just put the sander on the dowels as far as it will go and push the sandpaper up onto the sanding pad.
Great cabinet... Very useful and compact
You can also use a old metal sawblade underside the cabinet and leave a little gap between the cabinet and the saw by using a washer and run the sandpaper through the gap to pull it and ripe it off. No sharp corners.
Thanks!
OH haha, niet gelezen! Sry
Well thought out and designed. For the roll cutter just move the "blade" to the bottom with the sandpaper threading through it for easy access. Will also eliminate the issue of catching your clothes or skin. Now there's something else I have to build for my workshop. Get a PayPal account so we can purchase the designs/plans of some of your projects. I'm sure I won't be the only one interested. Hope you enjoyed the honeymoon, welcome back. (Flashing the wedding ring like we weren't going to notice)😂😂
Yes let's see the additions
I'm with this guy. Bring us the sequel. Great work.
First, congratulations on your wedding! Wishing happiness, respect and communication on all moments. Blessings and health!!! 🙏🏻😇👏👏
Guten Morgen, das ist wirklich eine Topp Vorrichtung! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Very good idea!
Best wishes from Germany
I'm always so impressed by your well thought out designs. You are by far my favorite wood worker. I wish you would post more often.
I wish I could but life is crazy. If I ever reach a point where I don't have to work full time I will be able to post much more often.
I think the sanding disk holder for perfect placement is just brilliant!!!
As usual another excellent video. Clever work. Although your best work is to follow no doubt since your recent marriage. Congratulations!👴🏻🇦🇺
Phenomenal build, well thought out and organized. I would love to see the final additions.
Thanks for a great video!

Hi! I love what you do with this projects, congratulations you most be some kind of ingeniero, you should try to have your tv shows, I’m a contractor my self for more that 24 years congrats keep the good work.
There is few safety things you show know while you work but everything it’s good thanks.
FREAKIN AWSOME!!!!
NICE DESIGN .. WELL DONE .. AWESOME RESULT ... I CAN CALL IT SANDING STATION :)
Good job designing within size constraints, anticipating future problems and modifications and injury prevention! Beats the hell out of hindsight!
WOOOOW! Simply awesome! Congratulations and thank you very much for the idea / inspiration! Greetings from Argentina!
Load shedding 🤣🤣. Great video. Project I must look at building
Greetings from Guatemala, in Central America, inspired on this video, I build a version on my own, thank you very much to show us your creativity and skills.
Best regards.
Very nice and well organized. Like to see the finished product
I would put a hack saw blade underneath the box to cut the roll. i would put a couple washers between the blade and the wood. This would hold the paper up like you wanted and would allow you to cut the paper. You could also put a blade on the side in the same fashion to cut the big sheets of sandpaper. Just a thought. This is a great unit and looks like it will be very helpful. Thanks for the video.
just google Hacksaw blade sandpaper cutter. there are many great ideas on the web
Fabulous!
Great video!!! Thanks!! from Argentina!
Very nice 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I would like to see your improved sandpaper cutters. Your videos are great!
Good job…Love the little drawers
Sand disk alignment stand.......... genius level 100.
for your sandpaper cutter take an old hacksaw blade and fasten it to the lip with some washers to space it out a bit. Then feed the paper roll into it from underneath and cut it by pulling downward. Nice and safe and effective. Same could work on the file side of the box. Keep up the great work. Also nice paint job :)
That is just brilliant. I plan on building a French cleat wall in my garage and am very inspired by this video. I have quite a few different sanders so might make a few different ones. So glad to have found your channel.
Use an old hacksaw blade to cut you sandpaper off. Very nicely designed and done.
very nice and working project the thing I like most is that it takes little space good complimants
I like your project. They are overcomplicated, but it's your way ;)
Great job.
Finally a French cleat system. Love your videos. Keep it up.
Wow, super organized.
I love your sand paper alignment jig for the orbital sander. It’s not silly at all. That’s the kind of attention to detail I can really appreciate.
Brilliant design and execution. Another great video.
I really like the sand paper organizer ! You have some really great ideas!
Man, that is super cool! Thanks for sharing!
Very well thought out I will look at a similar storage for my shop.
You have some way cool and impressive accessories you have made for your shop. Very nice.
Fantatisc!!!
Your projects are always well done and well thought out. You must be an engineer in your day job. 🙂
One cool hint. Glue a magnet strip to your wall. Hold things link your router table wrench in arm's reach but off the table. Magnets and velcro are friends. I add magnets to almost everything to hold stuff. Navy boats are metal, go magnets.
Amazing work as always
Very cool ideas. A joy to watch and learn.
Projects for your shop are GREAT practice projects for ones around the house! Love these! Keep up the great work and ideas. Thank you.💋
As always very good wood work .
Nice sand paper , sander unit . What impressed me the most was your Whole table saw, chop saw, and router table unit that doubles as a large flat work space. I think I will have to do something like that in my 12 x 15 shop .
and our wood holding rack system was nice as well
Good job brother
My friend, congratulation, you are a genius! I decided to subscribe to your channel just when I watched the first video, I’m really impressed with your creativity.
For the cutter, use a (heck)sawblade on some risers. You can feed through the sandpaper and tear off your piece very precieze.
Peter Kramer good idea. Put the blade under the bottom of the unit and feed the paper through from the rear and pull it down to cut off
Very nice Good Work🥰👍👍
Excellent video. I need to make this. You have some very good design ideas. Keep the video’s coming!!!
Very smart and detailed!
Great job......you have been sorely missed......when you don't post videos, I have to watch boring crap! Hahaha....congratulation, I'm glad you've joined the ranks of allot of us mate! You can always use a used hack saw blade with holes drilled in it. That way you can feed the rolds behind the blade because you will apply a small washer under the blade when screwing it in......I use this technique on my clamp cart for my blue painters tape at glue ups!
Thanks Keith!
Thank you for sharing. Nice build.
You are so clever. I love how you utilize every available space in your projects. Yes please, show the additions. Looking forward to many more shop builds and improvements.
You Sir are a Woodworking Wizard. Love the ideas and the incredible designs. Thank you for sharing your genius.
Well done ! I love it.
Very good presentation style, impressive ideas, and great workflow. Congratulations on your work.
Awesome project. You are very innovative making the most of everything. A couple of things you might want to think about. Try a hacksaw blade set back slightly from the front edge and spaced with washers for your cut off. You can slip the rolled sandpaper under it and it will double as a holder to keep the end of the roll out of the way. Second, maybe add labeling on the drawers to denote the grit of disk inside. I love your ingenuity man. Keep it up.
Sir, you are a fellow mad professor of invention for your woodworking workshop, just like I am. I love your ideas for sandpaper storage and I might just copy them. As for my power tools (both hand-held and fixed) I have cut off the power cables on all of them to a length of 12" (300mm). I have then installed on the end of each short cable a 'Varytec' in-line (male) twist connector. This means no more pesky loops of power cable to deal with and all my tools can sit on their shelves uninhibited by unruly loops of cable. I have also attached 'Varytec' in-line (female) twist connectors to a number of cables of varying length. These cables curl up into a neat loop when not in use and hang from a bracket. When I need to use a power tool, I simply select the correct length of cable I need, connect the male and female 'Varytec' connectors together, then plug the other end of the cable in to the power supply. The system works a treat and is so simple and neat. 'Neutrik' also make nearly identical compatible connectors that work perfectly with the 'Varytec' ones.
Thanks! I'll check it out
That's just awesome. Congratulations on getting married
Great idea. Great job.
A nother awesome useful video!
A hacksaw blade makes a great sand paper cutter. They are plenty sharp, but in your application what makes them good is the fact that are rounded on the end and won't catch on your arm as you walk by.
Another great build of you my friend. I love al the details you added in this organizer and you inspire me with this video. Well done my friend! You did it again!
Another great project buddy... shop is really taking shape now... I look forward to seeing what you come up with next...
Thanks Macon!
This is awesome! I'll take the idea and make it a big wider to store my palm sander as well 🤩
what a great idea. Good work
Of course we want to see the additions.... I have to say you have fast become my favourite youtuber. Hope you had a good wedding.
Thanks! It was beautiful and great fun.
Awesome mate!
Pretty good!
Can't wait for part 2!
For the tear off bars, I've seen others use an old ( or new I suppose) hack saw blade, the fine teeth making an excellent cutter against the backing paper of the sheets
Very nice idea, I love it!
Very good job
Very nice! Thanks for sharing!
thanks for another great video!!
Fantastic little project with many great ideas. I look forward to including some or all of these gems in future projects of my own. Thanks for sharing mate, and taking the time to make the videos. New subscriber. 👍👍🇦🇺
Awesome I love it
For the sandpaper cutter, use a hacksaw blade.
Magic
very nice system, really like the idea. When you get a cordless orbital sander you are going to love your rack so much more
Very nice design I like it. Thanks
Great video as always! Effective use of the small space!
About the applicator: since all boxes with the extra sanding discs are already perfectly aligned you dont need the extra applicator underneath the orbital sander.
Just pull out the box and align the sander, voila!
I commented pretty much the dame thing, I just added a small piece in a upright position to store small cut off scraps. great idea
Awesome and efficient
Looks great. I have other Sanders. The storage on right side can be adjusted for to fit. Thanks for sharing
Great video as always 👍🏻👌🏻
I love the storage of your belt sander, great, easy and fast.
23:30 Mounting the "cut bar" underneath makes more sense. Safer and allows the tear-off roll to pass over it and yank downward to tear (instead of up).
Netjies... well done, please load the video on the additions for the sand paper "cutters".
Quite simply a bloody great video and design. Thankyou for sharing these
Really nice build, mate. Love the design
