- This week a guy walks into my pawn shop to see a 1 ounce gold buffalo. He wants full gold on it and I just can't pay that. We go back and forth on a price and try to come to a deal. Pawnshops aren’t coin stores they never pay spot. People can’t expect to get spot there. If they want spot go to a coin shop. You gotta make money too. I think you are very fair for a pawn shop. The ones around my area only pay 80% of spot. So you are a honest and fair shop. Great job keep it up. Have a wonderful weekend
exactly its not like that Gold Buffalo was in a black diamond holder at PR/MS70 but then he probably would want over spot and close to the real premium of a graded holder coins.

I agree with this. If you want best price when you sell gold/silver, go to coin/bullion dealer or coin show.
Bullion is tough to make a profit on.

Exactly I watched this dude buy a bunch of American eagles for SPOT. I was laughing and felt so bad for the guy who sold because this dbag of a piss shop owner is being all friendly while he’s ripping him off.
At $2050/oz nobody is paying spot. Nobody.
They aren’t UNICEF they are in the Business of making money not loosing money.

I would never sell a gold buffalo for less than spot, but I don’t need the money. It’s not very smart to sell precious metals to a pawn shop. I’m in it for the long haul anyway.
You should be able to 1-2% over spot at a coin dealer.
If you have the Gold Buffalo with the W mint mark, it would sell for much higher than spot..
The way the market has been lately almost off the dealers I know have been buying slightly under spot just to protect themselves from a dip
These businesses by law need to hold onto merchandise purchases for a minimum of 2 week up to a month (based on county laws). They need to have some sway to protect against the market. Stores are not "stackers" who buy and hold for the apocalypse, they run a business to make money
I agree. But what’s the sense of stacking if you are most likely not going to get spot?? To barter for goods and services??

I live in Texas. Vermillion Enterprise is very competitive on pricing. They put out videos almost daily of their pricing for buying and selling.
His pricing on bars is usually unbeatable. Hard to beat 75 cents over spot.
They make it where you have to move millions of dollars a year to make any money it’s just not for me. I’ll pay what I can pay and if it’s not good enough they can ship it to them. I appreciate the comment and support watching my videos
@@PawnBrokerPickers I enjoy your channel. I hope you didn’t take my comment as something negative, as that was not intended. I absolutely understand that you as a pawn broker, and Vermillion Enterprises, are 2 different merchants who have similar, but different niches in the market.
If I am not mistaken, don’t you as a pawn broker in Florida, have to hold items you buy for a set period of time before you can move it? I understand why you offer the pricing you do. Profit is good, and yes you are taking risk and should insulate yourself from market volatility.

As a coin dealer I will tell you 1oz gold is a beyond tight market we sell Buffalos to make 40.00 before overhead.
Also if we buy from wholesaler we can sell immediately but if we buy from the public we have to hold for 30 days before selling. In TN coin dealers fall under pawn shop laws. So larger gold is just not worth the trouble most of the time. So I totally support you buying back of spot.

I don't agree with your father's statement about the price of gold, especially now in such a divided world! Gold is already more expensive in Asia than in the West. Most countries' central banks are buying gold like never before! Over the next six years, gold could very well make a big jump, as was the case between 2005 and 2011, when it quadrupled.

He should have taken it to Vermillion like he mentioned.
Vermillion offers spot at certain times, like when everyone was buying. 2 days ago he was offering 2% over But when it hit $2000 a lot of people were selling or trying to.

I understand that Small Pawn Shop needs to make money. But I would off prefer taking it to Coin Show or Coin Dealer, they would off gave Spot Money especially Buffalos very desireable Gold Coin!!!🏅🏅🏅

You did fine on the Buff.He knew what he was selling and when he mentioned about spot price, doubled down he knew what he was selling. You didn't rip him off. You offer the price and they can take it or leave it. In a few days price can go under the current spot and not recover for awhile. Never know. Yes, you work with folks allot, I've seen it in many of your videos. You're not in it to break even as breaking even doesn't put food in your mouth...its your livelihood.
