If it seems that I'm quite bitter towards Croydon and it's surronding area, there is a reason to that. I was forced to live in New Addington for just over a fortnight back in 2008 with one of my least favourite aunties. I even remember writing a diary about it though I can't seem to find it right now.
Just to clarify, I don't hate other people who are from Croydon. I just don't like the town of Croydon as a whole. Anyway, enjoy your second upload of the week. This video does open up the doors for future tram reviews, but we'll see what time has for us.

We have a small tram system in my city. It came as part of the fad of installing trams in American cities over the last decade or two. Very few people use it most of the time. Unfortunately i don’t think I can box it up and send it to Croydon as disaster relief :)

I’m pretty interested in tram networks, like the ones in Minsk I’ve ridden in the past.
The Croydon tramlink definitely needs an extension to somewhere where there isn’t really a good link, which Sutton is a good place to suit the trams, even if it was planned, or replace a link where a bus route takes forever just to get from A-B around the area.
Agreed. Sutton is horrible for buses with it's one way system and lack of a proper bus station. You could get a map of South London, throw a dart somewhere and odds are it'll see benefit with a tram extention.

That's actually why I went to Forestdale and filmed the 353 on the loop there. I was going to say something about building a branch on that section to replace the bus.
I’m an American, and I agree with everything you said about our transport. It’s literally a nightmare to use.
London just needs more trams in general. One good idea would be a tram that replaced 607 or whatever it's called now. It would follow a very wide road so the space would not be an issue.

The Tramlink has so much wasted potential, like a whole new line from Morden, Wimbledon or Croydon down to Sutton. It would benefit areas that are otherwise underserved by rail or tube.
It's sad to see it when all the other tram systems in the UK have shown that expansion offers net benefits.

There was a time that Edinburgh Trams attempted to donate some of their longer 7 car trams for the Croydon Tramlink due to building too many trams however because TfL’s empty wallet not affording to extend the tram stop platforms, They declined the offer

Wimbledon always confuses me especially with the Tram, do people have to go and tap in and out twice if they've come off the tube or train?
I found a site that gives better explanation than I could give: oysterfares.com/information-pages/wimbledon/
If you come off the tube, you go to the tram platforms, touch out on the NR validator and touch in on the tram validator.
You tap in on the train, let's say at Waterloo, you tap out at Wimbledon on the train, you tap in at Wimbledon on the tram reader, go to Croydon and get robbed of all your valuables so you can't get back to Waterloo.

Croydon is a strange old place. All human life is there... you can be walking through the centre of it, pass a place full of timid self-confessed geeks playing board games (who have never made eye contact with another human ever), then in the next shop the floor is covered in blood because someone has been stabbed 37 times for a cracked 3 year old Android.

About Charleroi I want to go back again. You might think I am a total idiot yes I am but hear me out. I love their BN LRVs which aren’t ruined badly by the renovation like that abomination called De Kusttram. And the network itself has charm from the 80s which I love and fares are pretty cheap 4 euros for a day ticket something I havent seen for a long time.
I honestly didn't like the LRVs in Charleroi since they felt so...unloved. Dunno how else to describe them. I was only there long enough for just over an hour since I bailed after seeing someone beating up their dog at Piges station. The €4 ticket was nice, though I REALLY REALLY didn't like TEC's ticketing system.
If I had more than a few hours and probably some...extra tolerance, I could try Charleroi again. Perhaps the outskirts are a bit better...
@@MaverickHunterDaniel about the Outskirts I’ve been to Monument (outside of Charleroi) and its more nicer than the metrosystem of Charleroi its self. Its one of the last remaining pieces of the NMVB Regional tramways M1 goes there iirc. I agree about the ticket system its terrible when I try to buy a ticket the ticketmachine didnt accept cards except cash as it should be accepting cards… after 15 minutes we went to a rather weird looking Ticket Office at Charleroi Central where I could buy a ticket.

@@MaverickHunterDaniel I know a lot about M4 routes. They mostly are in service on Schaarbeek-Kortrijk aka the 5100, some on the IC 2400 aka Liège-Namur-Brussels-Tournai on the 2430, 2434, 2436. And you got some on Essen-Antwerp-Charleroi 2003, 2029, 2019, 2045, 4509, 4515, 4533 and 4539. M5 are mostly on IC Brussels-Antwerp IC Hamont-Antwerp and sometimes on Schaarbeek-Kortrijk.

I've yet to ride any of it myself. In fact, the only memory I have of the Sheffield Supertram growing up was seeing it on one episode of the Teletubbies.

I looked at the speed signs on the route and there were more cases than not where MPH makes more sense than KPH. Such as leaving Old Trafford.

That's still more expensive than London to Birmingham with a railcard. Either via WCML or Chiltern.

Can i just say. I hate the electric displays on the new electric buses. The trams genuinely need an extension
I just don't like how difficult it is for my camera to get photos of them. Also I don't like how on some blinds, the main destination is shown in lowercase but the subtitle is in upper case. So for example 117: Isleworth WEST MIDDLESEX HOSPITAL. Should be the other way round.
your criticism on the single track sections was way too harsh imo. like literally your reeves corner example how on earth are you going to fit space for another track and a flyover twice as wide. at beckenham road the trams use one track and national rail use the other because the trams came later and there's no room to squeeze more tracks down the middle of the suburbs
the Variobhan dont even have announcements installed in them and the displays sometimes don't display anything at all or just the destination

But in reality, it seems more and more big cities over here are realizing that some form of light rail/tram/trolley is going to assist in some way shape or form and they’re slowly opening the wallets which is good. Hopefully Croyden can follow our lead in better tram services 😔 #PrayForCroyden
It's not so much praise for the American tram network, moreso rooting against the Croydon tram. Plus I've never gone to the USA.
A lot of American cities are installing them in places that don’t make sense, or won’t have any significant demand for at least a decade. I think the success of the Kansas City tram line in particular spawned a load of poorly planned copycats
Edinburgh trams with the same station copied and pasted over and over again, very boring. At least the trams are a good length but overcrowding is normal.
In all fairness, I think that applies to most tram networks, especially on the Tramlink. It's also not much of a big deal myself.
