I do have a reason why I replaced my partial is because my 1.0 went missing after the move. I did kinda feel miss out during the previous three cons in 2023 (plus February '24). I'm glad that I got my 2.0 and did resume with music video edits and wear it during VancouFur 2024.
I can think about something of why to get another fursuit is because it does not fix you anymore and you grew out of it and want to replace it so it does fix better. That is my advice
When I think of how long suits can last, all I can imagine is gale frostbanes 1.0 suit it’s over 10/11 years old currently and imo it still looks incredible fur still looks clean and pretty soft head still looks awesome etc now sure she has her 2.0 suit but still it really depends on how long a suit can last, how well someone takes care of it same thing with a car, it’ll last at least 10-12 years if you know what your doing.
You made a very excellent point about this topic and it’s understandable to why would or wouldn’t you replace a suit. Maybe at least a part of it to become a collaboration fursuit. Like as in you got the head made by another maker and the rest made by numerous other makers. But as for me, I noticed that there are some cracks and paint chipping on Bruzos head that I fixed up myself. But I’m really concerned as to what if it comes to a point that something happened to my argonian head to a state of disrepair which is why I would someday would love to have another fursuit head for Bruzo. And an ideal style for my fursona is realistic as if he were a tokusatsu character. And that costs heaps of money. And a very few makers I know is known to be able to pull it off without making him look too uncanny which I’m after. Although I seen some anime style toony suits that would look good for Bruzo in that same stile or semi realistic. I want to keep fursuiting and I want to keep my fursona still alive as a fursuit character. So for that reason, is why I would love another version of Bruzo someday and why I got a high quality inflatable costume from China I shown in one of my UA-cam videos to fill that void of not being able to be in fursuit.
I think it's true that if some fursuit maker comes out as a horrible racist or something after you get or commission or pay for your suit, then yeah there's no point really in getting a new suit unless that association really really bothers you. But it does bother me when people come after DHC suiters for example who have had their suits for years and years. I understand why you didn't mention it because it doesn't have to do with *replacing* fursuits, but I do think it's a bit strange if someone were to commission a maker like that, fully aware of their controversy and continuing on with it. I wouldn't say they agree with whatever the controversy is, but at the very least the fact that it doesn't bother them would be weird to me. Curious to know what your thoughts on that area would be!
As far as Sparky Can Do, I think the people who can afford her $25,000 suits now don't care what anyone thinks. Or they may not be aware of the accusations, or don't believe them (the evidence was intentionally presented without context to make her look worse).
Awesome video. I think another reason will be financial troubles. They have some financial situation that they needed funds for and the only way to relieve or help relief it, they have to sell.

Getting destroyed or stolen. Thankfully such things are a rare thing but still happen.
Unless the suit is in complete disrepair and cost more to repair than it's worth, there's no reason to replace it.
