As a 31 year old, I'd just like to say that person, someone has to pay for the Fursuits and convention hotels in the fandom. Who do they think can afford that stuff?

No disrespect to young adult furs - most of you are quite lovely! But I wont be leaving the fandom because a 23 year old thinks i should. I was a furry before they were born. :>
@@felinefireaudio and you shouldn’t. Besides. I have a lot of respect for the elder furries because let’s put it this way, elder furs did a whole lot or if not more for the fandom than their younger counterparts. Than you have to also pay for the security, then you got to deal with the attendance cap in the venue, and more. I can hardly organise a meet which is even more relaxed. I’ve made friends in the fandom who are greymuzzles and I don’t find anything wrong with it,sure they may be a decade older than me,but I find them very nice and respectful, even if I had a some difficulties with certain things,I usually ask them for advice and guidance. Besides,I can also ask them on when did they discover the furry fandom if they were younger a lil older or maybe sometime before I was born. Just because someone is a greymuzzle doesn’t give that 23yr old any right to disrespect or even be very rude to them.
Us greymuzzles are the ones making the fandom fan. It is us who had to stress out about making it a great experience for all. This statement angers me. With out us greymuzzles, there won't be fun conventions to go to.
I don't know how I feel about this, I"m a greymuzzle and I kinda get it. Admittedly 23 is not that young, but it kinda is that young. Like, 23 year old me is far different than 30 year old me. Some of my furry friends are in their early 20s and while I love them to death, it does feel a little weird kicking it with them b/c they're several years younger than me. Like... in some dark parts of the world I could be their parent. To each his own and I guess, so I don't see much issue with him not wanting to interact with older people.
Also, may be a young person that got some very not good harrasment from those significantly older and creepy to the point just want a DNI to keep distance.
@@infinitehexington It's like saying "Elderly DNI". It's just disrespectful and rude. Greymuzzle is not a defined objective age group, it has no basis in reality, and it only exists to gatekeep people from the fandom. Minor is objective however, and very defined already.
As a 45 year old who's often the oldest person in a Telegram group, or at social gatherings, I've encountered my own fair share of age-related discrimination in the fandom. It's crazy to me that so many people ascribe so much meaning to someone's age and are "creeped out" by someone older than them partaking of the same subculture as they do. But on the other hand I've also had a lot of heartwarming interactions with younger furs and have had some truly meaningful and close friendships with them. My roommate for example is 23 years old. He comes to me for advice and instruction, and kind of treats me like I'm his dad. I taught him how to do his taxes, how to work on his car, how to prepare a meal... all of the traditional "dad" things I guess. Younger furs would do well to realize that the older furs in the fandom can be a valuable source of knowledge, and many are willing and able to mentor them in any number of ways if they just reach out.
It's just ageism... imagine if you asked someone how old they were in real life if they clearly look like an adult and then turned around and told them you don't want to talk to them because they're older.
People can use DNIs for a variety or reasons, not just zoos and pedos. NSFW accounts can have "Minors DNI", people who have trauma/toxic experience related to a specific fandom can have "(insert fandom here) DNI". I feel like assuming that a DNI is inherently malicious is kinda meh, as I usually only see it being used by people with trauma, like me, to lessen them being triggered. Because you can limit the content you consume but it's hard to limit the people who interract with your accounts, so having those DNIs can make people at least acknowledge it and maybe avoid your profile or at the very least they're easy to block if you see them follow you. As someone who grew up being groomed by people that were min. 15 years older than me on the internet I do not really blame them for having that on their profile. I don't think it's inherently about ageism, it could be, but it could also be for their own sake.
Thank you. This is exactly how I see it, we don't know that person's experiences and why they may wish to avoid people out of their age range. There's nothing wrong with that really in the first place anyway! Just wanting to associate with people around your own age, that's like, normal. Never did they state anything about older folks inclusion in the fandom as a whole or anything, it is just to the level of this individual. This video really assumes a lot about a person based on only two terms in their bio.
I just want to know since when 30 y/o qualifies you as a greymuzzle, that's pretty young all things considred, I seem to remember Greymuzzle used to mean 45+ on up, used to be people who remember the early internet era of the fandom, people who y'know actually might have grey hair?
TBH, that is the WTF comment. Because what do they mean or identity as a “grey muzzle”? Do they realise the grey muzzles presuming that they identify as one or not are the ones responsible for running and making con’s a real thing in such areas. And if you have that much hatred for greymuzzels, than I dare anyone especially that 27 year old to organise a furry convention in their area. And it needs to be a real con and as successful as those like AC or FurDU. And trust me, it’s not east least financially. There are many factors for it. Venue for one and the money as those events are not cheap. And I agree with you fully with what you said about that topic.
I'm turning 33 next month and I'm NOT a grey muzzle. Those are people over 45. You know. The age most people have started greying. Edit: being a grey muzzle is great. They carry the professional side of the fandom in terms of event planning and all that that entails. They make cons possible.
Another great video! Like you, I'd totally get it and understand if they were a kid but they're not. Perhaps at some point they had interactions with a greymuzzle but it didn't go so well and maybe that's why they put that DNI? Of course, that's just a theory but it's not uncommon for a person to become reserved around a specific group of individuals if they've had a prior bad experience with them. And of course, it could very well be possible that they just don't want people a lot older than them interacting with them which is also completely fine and valid such as many having "Minors DNI" also! Completely fine and valid. Setting boundaries is important. However, if neither of that is the case here then it's all just a bit silly because one day, they're gonna reach that exact age too and then what? In that case, you're probably right in that they're doing it to be edgy or that it garners them some form of interactions because it offends people or makes them curious enough to reach out to them to see what their issue with greymuzzles is all about. That said, as long as they're not hurting anyone and not causing any trouble, let greymuzzles be greymuzzles and let them have their fun in the fandom too because they have every right to be here and deserve to be here too! I have no issues with greymuzzles.

The people in this comment section seem to be ignoring that "Minor" is defined and objective (hence Minor DNI), greymuzzle is not defined, it's completely subjective, and in a sexually positive fandom there are fundamentally lawfully justified reasons why people would not want to interact with minors; they're protecting themselves. ...I found a grey whisker once! Pretty sure stress caused it. X3
the hate on greymuzzles is so dumb bruh
The people in this comment section seem to be ignoring that "Minor" is defined and objective (hence Minor DNI), greymuzzle is not defined, it's completely subjective, and in a sexually positive fandom there are fundamentally lawfully justified reasons why people would not want to interact with minors; they're protecting themselves. "Greymuzzle DNI" is just ageism. When did we stop respecting people older than us?
Nice fursuit
I like when people set up their profiles like this. Makes it clear that they aren't worth interacting with
