Because it is not practical to use and Lightsabers are blades, double-edged or single/dual but still a blade. Otherwise they would have to rename it to Lightnunchucks which doesn't make any sense.

there are After Effects light saber plugins specifically made for this. All you have to do is show it the path that need to be followed. So going frame by frame for 1:45 min video; 2 days sounds reasonable. Even this could be tracked and automated. Can be done in half a day.
