For the people complaining, this is not a survival ration, it's one of the three daily rations the Spanish army has. Most if the things people miss here can be found on the rest of the boxes.
You may not like sardines, but I've never seen them in an MMRE before but it is a brilliant idea - they are cheap and so good for you. If you were out on the field I suspect you may think differently?
On the next video maybe you could attempt to eat 10 tins of sardines washed down with some clam chowder Andy, while the drone flies over head 🤣 thumbs up who wants to see that 👍
Can’t tell you how important these ration packs are when you been outside all day running around playing soldiers. They boost morale & honestly you will eat anything. I used to be absolutely ravenous on exercises.
From the comments, I think some viewers thought they were survival rations, but they are jsut plain old everyday meals. Now as for me, I happen to like sardines in tomato sauce, especially if the sauce is a bit spicy. Hi Andy your video of the Spanish ration pack was a great I don't like fish, I like your tin of meatballs and peas , how long did your water boil for your soup what did your drink taste like nice one Andy
I don't really remember how long the boil took.. was farting around with the camera.. wasn't very long though, the stove is fine, just the fuel tablets are too small.. the drink was just nothing really, weird choice not to have flavours, could have a variety with the 4 included. Thanks as always for watching buddy
You should have cooked the sardines in the tin, the oil sort of fries them and improves the flavour, just a shame the kit didn't include a spatula to stir them up a bit.
All the crackers and there are plenty, are in the breakfast box. You're supposed to get all 3 boxes, not just one because what you got is only one portion of a 24-hour ration
I did think about the squid.. if im gonna try fishy stuff then may as well go the whole hog lol. maybe ill try breakfast one day.. ill leave it a while though lol
I'm on a keto diet due to my prediabetes and most of that meal looks quite suitable - I'd be happy if I got that ration pack (I love sardines too so that helps lol!)
It's a shame that MREs are so expensive in the public sector (even the ones that claim to be cheap). It'd be understandable if they were a more bespoke item, but you know they're mass produced for the military in the same factories already, so I can't imagine they cost a massive amount to prepare. Creating your own is a challenge too, boil in the bag foods used to be more common in supermarkets in the past, but I haven't seen them in a couple of decades probably. One thing I picked up from my DoE instructor years ago is to take some dioralyte sachets for electrolytes rather than isotonic sports drinks etc. Also handy if you get the shits from eating something dodgy too :) EDIT: by the way, have you tried making your own ships biscuit before?
couldn't agree more on dioralyte, always in my pack first aid :) I have made ships biscuits before actually, I have them wrapped up under my bed, been there over a year and still look good.. bit of an experiment lol
Very cool my friend. I have tried the Spanish Breakfasts, but, as of yet, no lunch or dinner. Hey friend, that isotonic powder, is, meant to be dissolved, in mouth, then, followed by glass of water. It can be done, mixed into drinks, however, not the recommended way, according to Spanish friends? The Breakfast portions, I have tried, are , very light indeed. There is probably a van or mobile trailer waiting for the soldiers at the designated lunch spot, full of bread & rolls, like the French army have. You could have mixed the paté with the meatballs to give them more flavour. Ha! Interesting to see different military MRE's though but it doesn't look like the Spanish squaddies get a particularly good deal.
