after having left the German Forces some 3 decades ago it was some fun to see this.
I may say - there are no changes to the boxes I saw those days, sometimes in a downpour in the forests just above freezing point.
Considering the fact that the main idea of this ration is, how to bring as many calories towards the fighting guys (and ladies) in small weatherproof and lightweight shape - they have done quite well. Though, healthy food is a different thing.
    Two things:
1st: except for the far north east of Germany, all have tea without milk, so the taste is lighter than the uk tea.
2nd: I have had some fun to see, that our nickname to the crackers "Panzerplatten (Armour Plates)" is by now printed onto the package. I remember them as pretty rock solid (chewing them wearing the steel helmet turns out to be very noisy in your own ears), but they serves to us an important service: They were burning (in those days, do not know if it is still the case) very well so were very useful to start a fire.
Except for that - nice video, really enjoyed it.
    (And sorry for my english)

Nice, the German EPA’s have to be one of the coolest military rations I’ve ever seen. Such unique items in them lol.

Thanks for a fine Emergency Ration box review. Keeping in mind the purpose of the ration and the probable conditions it was designed for , things did look appetizing for the most part. You did have a lot of water in that tea tin for a single sachet of leaves.

    • @KentSurvival

yeah, im used to a stronger tea bag I think, but indeed, generally very good and im sure much appreciated after a day of exercises in the field. Thanks for watching James

Good selection of scoff Andy. We used to carry oxo cubes and cola bottle chewy's on patrol in NI always find a kettle at a RUC barracks or station, sounds odd but a hot cup of beef oxo and pepper is lovely on a cold Irish night. Cheers Moose.

Good review again Andy. The only thing that bothers me about the 24 hr ration packs is that I'd probably just nail the lot in one go...leaving nothing for supper hahaha. No substitute for the stew and dumplings though lol !...
    Great stuff...cheers 👍

No real German could use them - after each meal you would have to go and look for 5 or 6 different garbage bins to recycle all the different materials properly!
I'm astonished that there isn't a 50-page instruction for 'Mülltrennung' garbage separation in each box 😉🤣🤣

Great educational film as usual. The packaging manufacturers for all the individual items must love the demand. All those plastic wraps for this and plastic wraps for that and not just in Germany. I lost count at ten and then they supply it all in a cardboard box is this so it all appears to be 'green'. I know Kent S. always sets a saintly example and will never leave a trace and take the surplus wrappers and dispose of them at home (but the plastic packaging still has to be disposed of) but how many others who buy this product would follow the same thoughtful example and clear up just think about how many people would bother to chase through the woods if there is a breeze to blow stuff into the environment. The main meal looked okay, I would have added the salt to taste in the process not at the end and the aluminium tray could be reused time and again. In a survival situation anything goes but if I had a choice I would not buy this pack.

    • @KentSurvival
      @KentSurvival  6 років тому

Thanks for watching buddy.. I know what you mean.. doing the ration reviews.. its very easy to misplace small pieces of packaging, always have to do a final check after clearing up as so much packaging.

Looks good, and I am quite fond of tinned rye bread coasters. They make a pleasant change from bannock on the trail, and I like the sour grainy flavour. I have a book recommendation for you Andy - On Trails by Robert Moor. An excellent read.

2nd commercial Einmannpackung this A.M. I have no problem with either. German, Australian, top 2 on my bucket list. Neither cheap here, as, I assume your way either friend. Both rations are similar, but different number rations. The main is the main difference. Rye bread is strong, agreed sir. LOL. All components looked great. Peace, John.

Im not really sure what purpose this mre serves, it has a lot of dry crackers and rye bread, but little to go with them, it might be good for calories, but as the person buying it isnt in a war, they have the luxury of time to put together a much more enjoyable meal for the same cost imo!, but for novelty sake its interesting to see anyway

Nice one Andy, I love your MRE reviews, I think that's how I originally found your channel, funny as I spent this weekend in Germany raving for 3 days at an outdoor rave event.. Ahem.. check my latest viddy if interested :-) I still need to be getting a Firebox or bushbox... I'm so lazy at getting round to it. I hope you kept the rye bread tin to use as a twig stove or similar for free ;-) Great review. Stew, pasta type stuff defo needs to be thicker. Lee

Thanks Lee, you've been raving it again! haha, ill have a look. ill likely upgrade to a better twig stove at some point but the lixada does the job for the money.

Hi... great review!.....I reviewed the exact same ration only a couple of weeks ago.... mine arrived with the mains damaged so never got to taste....did take a look at it though and it did smell good!....agreed about the rye bread.....a bit to strong on flavour for my liking also....check out my review if you get some time....would be great to get your thoughts on my thoughts of this ration...ATB....Mick

I enjoyed the video man. I'm doing some UA-cam research trying to see about my 2016 menu 3 German EPA. I haven't seen not one review of that menu. There a few of the older style but not the new ones. I have a type 9 freeze dried too but I haven't seen anything about it either.

Dude, you're doing it all wrong. I like your vids though. What you should do is, don't eat anything all day. Take a reasonable hike until day light has nearly gone. Set up your camp, then do your review. Trust me on this, it will taste sooo much better and fulfilling . Cheers HF2 .

Its a good point but I tend to do these on the days Im unable to camp (prefer to do some proper cooking in camp) usually do a reasonable hike though, cheers for watching

Your food is much better than this HOITY TOITY kit. Hopefully, you got paid for this presentation. Looks like you are much more interesting than this kit of food. Great job showing the kit. You are so sweet.
