I have a 1968 Peugeot PX-10 frame, steel, stripped of paint and polished to grey scotch Brite. Spray varnish caught corrosion under the finish. Very annoying. Lost my mind with red scotch brites and alcohol to scrub it all off/polish. Looks beautiful. If the weather drizzles the frame rusts orange. This battle has been ongoing and l am tired soooo, we was looking for info on lacquering raw metal. Ty. And I subscribed.

Lacquer is not design for outdoor and will fail within 9 months. It’s only great if you want to flip a home.

Thanks for watching. I used Permalac lacquer and have used it on metal on a property I have and after 5 years no visible damage. They actually used lacquer on cars up in to the 60s. I agree the can you buy at the big box store isn’t what you want. A quality lacquer gives a good finish and is easily recoated

Nice video!. I'm looking for a clear finish that wont darken the colors on heat painted carbon steel. Do you think a higher gloss lacquer would do the trick?

Yes. Permalac is what I used here. The gloss will maintain the color underneath better, you are correct
