    I just made this last night for July 4th. It was awesome! However I used half peanut oil half canola oil for frying (instead of lard) and I added double the brown sugar because I wanted a sweet/spicy mix. Whole family loved it. Looking forward to trying more of your recipes.

    I made this and it turned out amazing! Make sure if you're doing this on your stove you put the same amount of oil as babish does, chicken ideally half submerged, otherwise it starts to brown the breading unevenly.

      It's really not that hard compared to other things he's done. He didn't use any specialized tools and it's essentially a jazzed up shallow fried chicken recipe. I say this as a person lacking a food processor or a stand mixer.

    Thanks for the vids! And do you think you could do a video on balancing out flavors in a dish? I always hear about stuff like "add acidity to cut the richness" but I don't really know much about it.

    Fun Fact: KFC double dips for their Extra crispy chicken, this recipe feels really similar to when they came out with the Nashville hot back in 2012 when I worked as a high school fry cook. Super awesome vid!

      I just pick and choose things to incorporate. Also watching food truck videos or videos of Indian foodstands can actually be incredibly helpful and provide tricks and tips that you can incorporate into your cooking technique. Those food trucks and stands rely on quick pace so they have certain techniques that makes their time more efficient.

    Note: Hattie B's dip their chicken in the oil mix making it so the bread also gets soaked in the spicy goodness.
    I work in Nashville and we'd go about twice a month to Hattie's. I would LOVE to see their Pimento Mac & Cheese recipe duplicated. That is heavenly.
    While Hattie B's is it iconic, I do think Prince's Chicken is better chicken.

    I attempted this amazing recipe but I sous vided the chicken thigh at 150 for an hour and then did the same breading step. Fried it real quick to get it golden brown and made the sauce the same way. It was dang good.

    I live in Nashville, and though Hattie B’s is extremely delicious, Prince’s is the original and it uses lard instead of oil with the cayenne.

      I'm born an raised Nashville and remember when prince's was the best when the first location was off Dickerson road in the hood! It's crazy to see how Nashville is tricking people into thinking that they are moving into nice areas! Lol I tell most of my transplant friends " you know you're living in the hood right?"

    I made this recipe a few days ago... man it was killer!!!! Chicken was awesome, the sauce was just great, I did a little tweak and added a few tsps of honey and boy that sweet and hot mix was great. Love the show!!!
