I just made this last night for July 4th. It was awesome! However I used half peanut oil half canola oil for frying (instead of lard) and I added double the brown sugar because I wanted a sweet/spicy mix. Whole family loved it. Looking forward to trying more of your recipes.

I made this and it turned out amazing! Make sure if you're doing this on your stove you put the same amount of oil as babish does, chicken ideally half submerged, otherwise it starts to brown the breading unevenly.

It's really not that hard compared to other things he's done. He didn't use any specialized tools and it's essentially a jazzed up shallow fried chicken recipe. I say this as a person lacking a food processor or a stand mixer.
Fried chicken is a basic dish. Adding the spiced oil isn't really a quantum leap.
That said, I'll have a restaurant make it for me rather than attempting it at home.

I live in the south but had no idea what it was, tried it a few months back and it's my all time favorite food now.
I am not from the south, I love this chicken, but I never understood the white bread. Do you eat it on the side?
@@corwinorr It's to keep the sauce from becoming a puddle under the chicken. Eating the bread is a dangerous game. A tasty but dangerous game. It tends to be almost twice as hot as the chicken itself.

Fun Fact: KFC double dips for their Extra crispy chicken, this recipe feels really similar to when they came out with the Nashville hot back in 2012 when I worked as a high school fry cook. Super awesome vid!

I just pick and choose things to incorporate. Also watching food truck videos or videos of Indian foodstands can actually be incredibly helpful and provide tricks and tips that you can incorporate into your cooking technique. Those food trucks and stands rely on quick pace so they have certain techniques that makes their time more efficient.

as a greek person i would love to see you make some greek dishes like spanakopita, moussaka, or baklava. maybe even dolmades (yum!) or loukamades. it takes forever but it's sooooo worth it!
You should do a basics on plating! The way you plate always looks amazing and it would be great to learn the techniques so we can do it at home :)

Note: Hattie B's dip their chicken in the oil mix making it so the bread also gets soaked in the spicy goodness.
I work in Nashville and we'd go about twice a month to Hattie's. I would LOVE to see their Pimento Mac & Cheese recipe duplicated. That is heavenly.
While Hattie B's is it iconic, I do think Prince's Chicken is better chicken.
Only been to Nashville once, but we made sure to hit up Hattie B's. Absolutely worth it.

I think the small batch approach was taken to make it reasonable for a person that isn't making hot chicken on a chicken restaurant scale.
Hattie B's is on point. I loved how friendly the staff in the West Nashville were when I and a friend visited a few years go.

From a fellow home cook that prides himself with perfection on the first run, and a man that hails from Nashville and have cooked several recipes of hot chicken you did good But to pump if flavor and not the heat I use a variety of dried peppers from hatch NM ie green chili and roasted Carib to start with just a though
I attempted this amazing recipe but I sous vided the chicken thigh at 150 for an hour and then did the same breading step. Fried it real quick to get it golden brown and made the sauce the same way. It was dang good.

I made this recipe a few days ago... man it was killer!!!! Chicken was awesome, the sauce was just great, I did a little tweak and added a few tsps of honey and boy that sweet and hot mix was great. Love the show!!!
