Very well filmed and documented ! Besides the great work in the car you also deal with a great work editing and preparing the videos. It is not easy ! Congratulations and thanks again for publishing.
I love this ! As a previous owner of Z32 TT in manual from 91 I really enjoy watching this miniseries and I'm crying for having to leave the car behind as moving to Europe... We had a lot of fun together ♥️
Thanks! Sorry to hear about your ZX, I'm sure those twin turbos were glorious. But on the bright side, just think of all the awesome European cars you'll now have access to...
All those OEM shifter bits just looking back with a wink saying “Hey there buddy…you don’t know it yet but we’re gonna be friends. You’ll be back to visit me in a couple of years it’s ok”.
@@noboltsleftbehind Yeah, that rubber bushing in the bracket holding the shifter is right up there with the coolant lines under the plenum. All I envision is Nissan engineers laughing as they draw the designs up…but I don’t have room to speak, I’m installing R35 coils and dual 485s in my Z right now so I’ve opened my own can of worms
@@Defiant155 ah yes I’ve read about the intake coolant lines, I think I’m gonna tackle that one in the next episode or two. Just pulling off the intake manifold seems like such a daunting task. On the bright side, it makes me appreciate working on my other cars that much more!
@@noboltsleftbehind Yeah you’re going to have fun there. With the EGR system and coolant lines in place, I think it used to take about an hour to get the manifold off. Now with the R35s and top feed injectors with the wiring tucked under the plenum, it takes about 10 minutes to take the plenum off now if that. I don’t even have to remove the balance tube anymore 😂
You will probably hit your hands on the dash in 1,and 3rd. The shifter is in backwards I think, needs to rotated 180 deg at the linkage. (where the brass bushings are) Great job so far!!!
Hey great work brother! I just did this exact job on my '95. I pulled the motor to do other maintenance which made things a ltitle easier but man I also had a lot of trouble getting the tranmission to stab into the engine! Keep up the videos man I really enjoy following your progress! Wish I had the drive to make videos like yours and document my own work but it's just too much lol
This was well filmed! Friendly Suggestion as I love learning if there was some text when you are working on specific parts of the trans so we could learn what they are. I know a ton of vocab for Transmissions but really haven't seen it in person. Thank you!
Hey man I’ve been using your videos as guides for my swap and it’s been going great. I really owe you a thanks! I’m about to get to this step tomorrow and I’ve been curious where that grounding wire for the starter goes? Does it go in between the top transmission bolt hole and the bolt?
I think I'll probably do some engine tune-up stuff, pull the intake manifold off and see if I can fix those oil leaks. Soon after that, hopefully paint and rust repair.
On other Z32 swap videos, I noticed they had difficulty with a top bolt, requiring a super long makeshift socket extension. Did you have that problem too?
Haha I definitely had to make the mega-extension, but it wasn’t hard if you have enough of them. About three feet worth and a wobble extension or two helps. You can see it when I was pulling the auto transmission: ua-cam.com/video/YneieL75gAA/v-deo.html
Hey, I don’t know if you still have that original manual driveshaft that you ended up not using, but if you still have it and looking to sell it I would be interested

Thanks, I appreciate it!
great job man! getting that trans in there by yourself is no easy task.
Thanks, it was a workout for sure. Here’s proof it can be done on your own!

Haha I’ve been warned about some of these parts, I think the next time I open it up I’ll probably be investing in a short shifter and solid mount.

Thanks for catching that, It does seem to shift a bit too far forward. I'll take a look at it.
Very well done
We are two the same
I’ve up graded my 70 challenger
And now 5sp swap my 90 z as we speak.
Dude that’s hilarious! Great minds think alike.
Great job! Can’t wait to see the next one!!
I started watching your channel with your challenge and I must say I'm enjoying the new content.

Yes, from what I remember its on one of the top transmission bolts, I think passenger side.
What are you doing next after you finish the transmission job?
I think I'll probably do some engine tune-up stuff, pull the intake manifold off and see if I can fix those oil leaks. Soon after that, hopefully paint and rust repair.

Will you be wiring up the clutch switch as well?
Yes, I'll be wiring it like a stock manual car more or less. I'm covering the wiring process in the next episode.
Hi, could you link the clutch and flywheel you purchased I’m looking to purchase one as well for my swap
Sure, it was the Clutch Max kit on eBay with the OEM style clutch and pressure plate and chromoly flywheel - www.ebay.com/itm/133538168480
