My 2012 Ford Focus was having some issues. When pressing the gas the car would stall, shutter almost feel like it was going into neutral. It was also having problems shifting through the gears. I used a OBD2 scanner to pull the codes because the engine light was on. It came up with two codes both of them pertaining to ECM/PCM. After that, I did some research and heard about clearing the ECM (Engine Control Module). Wanted to take you on the Journey of clearing the ECM to see if that would fix the issue. It actually fix the problem.

Thanks man for posting this…I have a Ford focus se 2014 and this process fixed my transmission issue so far! I will try to drive it later again to see if it comes back or not! Will keep you posted

@@JOATD hey mate, my problem is back while driving yesterday…I drove wrongly because I’ve gun it and since then the problem is back. I followed this process once more but the problem is still there. I’ll try again tomorrow to see how it goes

Thank you! I will try this on my hard starting ford focus hatchback 2.0 2006, got a problem on PCM, every time i started it the power(RPM) drop. I need to restarted it to about 3 to 4 times.

Same issue as mine, is not a big deal even if you have to replace the forks inside the transmission,is really easy.

Take both termals off and jumper cables to each end of terminals let sit to clear the computers and compassoters for 20 minutes put hot wire on first then ground back on to battery then turn key on dont start for 1 min. Then start it let idle till fully warmed up so the throttle sets its low and high then go driving normal driving above 35 mph for more than 25 miles . And need to replace the acuators are bad brand new when first built . Recall on them there your shifting motors .
PLEASE HELP 🙏!!!!! i dont got no lights on the dash but im still getting a p06b8 code and i been doing some research and its saying it may be the pcm but i kinda still want to get it fixed or checked just to be safe before i proceed with the replacement and repair for it

Could you use jumper cables to attach if you do not have alligator clips or wire?
Yes technically you can use anything you want as long as it makes a good connection
@@JOATD The Check engine light went off by just turning the key to the on position for 10 seconds. However the "i" is still on and I still get a transmission error when i turn the car on. does that go away after driving it?

I am curious what have you done to fix the "I" error ?
You could just take them both apart and touch them together too just make sure it’s all unplugged from the batteey

Would u suggest fixing the actuator under the car before trying this. Right now my car wont go in reverse and im hopin its something this simple. Mine was revving up but no power then when i got ot home it wouldn't go in reverse plz help i camt afford a new transmission
Yes this video will not help if the car will not go in reverse. This is for more if you getting a shuttering feeling. Try this video.

@@JOATD I have watched this video as well and my friend he changed the one under the car but he got it from a junkyard so do u think it's best to get a new one. I also think it may be the TCM but I don't know. Do u know if I change the actuators could I reset the TCM. Is that at all possible
@@jennifervaldez7139 did you try the procedure first to see if you could unstick the fork. Installing a new actuator doesn't unstick the fort.
@@JOATD I don't know if he did it exactly like the video but he did something I'll have to show him your video. We want to try cleaning the ground wires as well. I will try everything short of buying a transmission right now. Lol. They are so expensive
@@jennifervaldez7139 your tcm is probably the main corporate. I just received my back from the shop today with a new tcm and I now have reverse and it doesn’t shift hard anymore. Ford has a customer service bulletin out about the tcm. They extended the warranty on the part to 10 years/150,000 miles.

what do you mean by you turned off the check engine light?
I used a OBD2 tool that resets the engine light. And the engine light never turned back on.

How many miles did u drive? usually mine I drove at least 50 miles at least to reprogram ur ecm.
About 150 but it could have reprogrammed it earlier than that because after I reset it I never had any problems

Yes it shows halfway unless you're overheating

As long as it's a Ford Focus around the same year it should work.

Yes as long as you turn the engine light off
I have a code P0902 clutch actuator circuit low and I replace both actuators but it still shifting problems and jerks and still read code P0902

Most likely a TCM issue, pretty common!
Will this get the charging system light off
Are you referring to the battery warning light
If so then no this does not turn off the battery warning light code. This will not turn off the engine light either you will have to use a scan tool to turn off the engine light.
Ford focus, really easy to fix, if you know how to do the job, and very economic is like fixing a toy
So just connect the dsconnected positive lead to earth....
Correct that's all you have to do

@EveFrag oh okay, no this only works on a 2012-2018 Ford Focus
It has non volatile memory, the only way to reset the adaptive learning memory Is with a programmer.
Okay if that's true explain to me why my engine light has not came back on. There's always two ways to fix something you don't always have to use a programmer. But I do understand it would be the right way to do it
Try a different remedy and that one worked for a few miles just gonna try yours and see if not just going to wait 3 to4 months for ford

It depends on the year of your Ford Focus if you have the same one I do you won't have that problem. If you have an older year Focus the password for your Focus Radio should be in the dashboard with the manual it should look like a little credit card that sets for it on it

Man just got a 2012 I think the company we got it from cleared the code po805 came up on my reader it shudders when shifting and I don’t know what to do !!?
The shutter is due to ford trying something that has never been tested on vehicles the feista and focus from 2009/current are all double clutch meaning the tcm has two clutch’s reset all the program codes and fix the problem when it comes up
@@randykirkpatrick3593 I got in it today and the check engine light was off and it started shifting fine today I contacted ford and they said they will get back to me about a buy back or a extended warranty but it’s a 2012 with a 100,000 miles do you think they will take care of it ?
Most fix is a simple tcm reprogramming

Are you talking about your check engine light or mine. Later on in the video I turn the check engine light off and it has not turned back on yet.

Why didn't you cleared the code out then you know and what did you say you were supposed to drive for just a normal drive it didn't look like if it was a normal drive
Lol, it was a normal Drive I just sped the video up so it wouldn't be so long. And at the end of the video I cleared the code out.
Why not just do this with a jump cable ?
You can use whatever wire you like I just chose to use that because it was easier to handle or work with.

Yeah it’s a ford transmission the car needs a new one & your wire thing didn’t do anything, the CEL was still on, you need a good scanner to reset that ECU. Waste of time bruh
I'm sorry that this trick did not work for you but it did work for me and all I had to do was turn off the engine light afterwards and it never came back on and I never had the issue again.
Sometimes you get a similar issue but not the same thing is causing the problem.
