In an interview after hearing from a reporter that George was critical of Paul's post Beatles work, John said "Band on the Run" was a "damn good album"!
It could be possible... Yoko "Someone knockin at our door!" John "Somebody's ringing my bell... Do me a favor, open the door and let em In..." "Hi John, Yoko!" Paul enters, making notes in his lyric notebook for a potential future #1 hit song...
Now here's proof positive that John absolutely Loved & Appreciated Paul & his music completely - if the same tragedy had happened to Paul instead John would have been totally devastated to this day . Imagine... ✌
Excellent spoof on Lennon's Birthday Party & Toot and a Snore in 74 -- even if the Yoko laugh is waaaaaay overdone. Crazy silly how many people take this as legit. Well done.
My God, Lennon was studying that album closer than most of us, and who knew??? I was learning those songs on my six string but I was only about 13 years old.
Honestly, I ended up pissing off a lot of laughing ... hilarious ... 'Blackbird, not Bluebird ... whistles ... Blackbird, not Bluebird' ... ''Ok Alright ... Beautiful, beautiful'' ... ''No Words for my love ... Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo …'' … LOL.... Well, I recorded the audios of those 3 John’s parties (Band On The Run / McCartney & Ram / Double Fantasy Party) ... when I'm in a lot of trouble, or sad, these audios really make me laugh like crazy ... LOL Thank you for the hilarious work, Stevie!! YOU ARE TOO MUCH!!!! Peace & Health!! (Please, if possible, do some John private party Venus & Mars & Speed Of The Sound ...)
I'd always heard John was self conscious about his voice, and with this glimpse into how he sounded with no electronic processing, I can see why; it's halfway between Bob Dylan and Paul Williams. It was probably good for him that he worked with Phil Spector, crazy as he was, during the start of his solo career. You'd never guess that the voice on "Imagine" (fortunately, with no auto-tune in those days, but the reverb did wonders for it) was the same as this one. Thanks for making this available though, I never knew it existed.
Absolutely Awesome. You guys got the voices. And to all of you who love downing Yoko just remember John and Yoko we're one together. I love that John found his opposite. Hell that man deserved every ounce of love he got and gave. So remember when you're putting down Yoko ultimately your downing John. Even tho im really not a fan of her music I still love and respect her. My mother and father have a love like there's I guess that's why I appreciate there love and feel the way I do. I hope to greet you John and George in paradise where we will all live forever together loving and serving the grand Creator. There I should hope to play across the universe with you my friend. love and peace to all. Love Minus Zero Equals No Limit.
This is pretty cool actually. Nice to hear hear Lennon calling some of the songs "great." Amused when he says "A typical Paul song." At the same time I wonder if he was jealous or envious that McCartney's "Band on the Run" was a humongous hit. You can't help but to wonder how this album might have sounded if Lennon had some input on it.
what a terrible loss I was 8 and I cried I miss him terribly he was my fav Beatles his life was like mine John was real no airs no fakeness just real love the man RIP sweet man
I can't imagine where this recording came from, who recorded it, and how you ended up with it. Can you fill us in a bit. It's an amazing piece...just the fact John would learn and play these tunes. Does anyone know his motive? Thanks for posting.
It makes you wonder if Paul, Denny Laine and Linda might have sat around one night after working on a Wings tune (Perhaps Mull of Kintyre?) and sang some of John's best solo songs... One can only Imagine the results... especially if a few of the bagpipers hung around as well.
I wonder if Paul ever knew that John sang his songs in this way.I like to think that Paul felt nothing but PRIDE in hearing how John sang his songs with such PRIDE.
Fabulous impersonation. Lennon would never have been so generous of spirit to do this - he would either have thought the album was shit or would have been way too jealous to have performed it.
warm memories, I was there, remember it like yesterday.... harry (sic) niilson and that bloody puff Michael McMaster, wheeling the grand piano out the window into the swimming pool later that night, and of course playing Smiley Smile at 3am with Yoko and Klaus on bass
Not a huge surprise; I read John's complimentary words for Paul's compositions in an interview and John praised "Yesterday". Besides showcasing (again) how good John was as a performer/guitarists, this proves (if you need it), how connected they were.
I never realised brother John sang some of my songs ooooh, I think Yoko added a certain dynamic to some of them. Thanks for releasing this Stevie, I should've went to this do oooh, but Yoko accused me of plagiarizing her recipe for a ripping lentil soup ooooh!
JCPierce I know what you mean, JCP. But that's totally their real voices. And there are no musical mistakes. I think it's a Wings party (note all the proper vocal harmonies) crashed by John and Yoko.
what a night! Was it NYE? Yoko was mixing the cocktails, I think John played guitar as I handed out pistachio nuts. Yoko ate them with the shells on, we had to hold her upside down for five minutes. Shake rattle and roll John said!

Despite all those differences, John and Paul never gave up being lifelong friends and brothers and to this day... sounds great...
Its great to hear John having such a blast!!

7:31 "...It's a typical Paul song."
Brilliant. I could listen to faux Beatles banter for hours.
And it works! The Beatles never should have disbanded!
In an interview after hearing from a reporter that George was critical of Paul's post Beatles work, John said "Band on the Run" was a "damn good album"!
You can hear from this RARE audio the love he felt for Paul and that Album

the fact he knew EVERY word just blew my mind and speaks volumes about his feelings about Paul
EXACTLY - The Love he had for Paul comes shining through - He must have played those songs to himself over and over :-D
John loved Paul even during his bipolar outbreaks. I think that says it all. :)
I agree, I think it speaks volumes about what he really thought about Paul as a composer.
Just imagine if Band on the Run was a Beatles song. 🤯
Yes, we get a good idea fom Lennon singing Paul's songs right here, dont we!
Great piece of work, if I didn't know better I'd have totally believed it 😋
"Yoko get the tracklist"... LMAO... Yoko's laugh is embedded in my brain!
That's the best line indeed!!!!! hahaha
Thank Goodness Yoko had the Track List on her :-D
About the only thing Yoko was good for too! hahaha - I am loving all your videos once again my friend!!!!!
Linda and Paul hung with John and Yoko ....at the Dakota...round x-mas 1975..." Let Em In" beginnings?
It could be possible...
Yoko "Someone knockin at our door!"
John "Somebody's ringing my bell... Do me a favor, open the door and let em In..."
"Hi John, Yoko!" Paul enters, making notes in his lyric notebook for a potential future #1 hit song...
Wish john was still here.
Godspeed John G.B.N.F. EVER
Steve Rick is a genius. This is just amazing.
ITS AN AMAZING FIND I AGREE x
I enjoyed this. Not too sure about the many many folks who think this is real. But what the hell, it's fun.
Now here's proof positive that John absolutely Loved & Appreciated Paul & his music completely - if the same tragedy had happened to Paul instead John would have been totally devastated to this day . Imagine... ✌
Yep, the proof is in the pudding as they say..Lennon always loved Paul's music despite reports to the contrary - This proves it once and for all :-D
"reports to the contrary" sure...Ringo didn't like " Ram"...whatever....they definitely would have collaborated, as the Beatles, Again
Very nice. It was on this night that Sean Lennon was conceived. Also, that's Carl Wilson of the Beach Boys playing the ashtrays.
They were ALL there - and its WONDERFUL to hear!
Stevie you are my Super Hero. I'm obssessed with you!!!😁
Great to hear John sing all the songs from Band On The Run so Thank You

The way Yoko Ono keeps bleating throughout the whole tape is hilarious!!

Wow! Lot of fun in the background! It gives us some relief of our hard day's night imagining moments like that!
They ALL had a ball by the sounds of things. I thought Yoko was gonna spontaneously combust at more than one point :-D

My idol
Honestly, I ended up pissing off a lot of laughing ... hilarious ... 'Blackbird, not Bluebird ... whistles ... Blackbird, not Bluebird' ... ''Ok Alright ... Beautiful, beautiful'' ... ''No Words for my love ... Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo …'' … LOL....

Its SO beautiful isnt it - John, Yoko and ALL the gang having a blast playing Paul's great music :-D

This recording shows that John was actively aware and acute of what Paul was doing and gauging his releases...;)
I agree my friend - John's love for Paul's music shines through here doesnt it.
Whether he meant to or not John paying tribute to Paul here.Band on the Run is a Brilliant Album.
Do you have Ringo humming all of the first Traveling Wilburys album by any chance?

The world wants him back so badly!

6:03 “He was doing me anyway” with Let Me Roll It! Great parody !
Superb tribute.

It's probably one of the greatest things you'll EVER hear
'Let Me Roll It' was always considered to be a typical 'John' song...
Isnt it just the best thing you've ever heard - It's INCREDIBLE to hear John isnt it my friend!!!!
Fabulous impersonation. Lennon would never have been so generous of spirit to do this - he would either have thought the album was shit or would have been way too jealous to have performed it.
This is hysterical, Yoko's cackle, and singing voice ( I was right with cackle, not voice) I will never listen to this album the same way again.
Well done stevie keep it going
That Yoko impression tho.
The chuckle always gets me
warm memories, I was there, remember it like yesterday.... harry (sic) niilson and that bloody puff Michael McMaster, wheeling the grand piano out the window into the swimming pool later that night, and of course playing Smiley Smile at 3am with Yoko and Klaus on bass
