  • To be honest I was a little bit intimidated by this bike, not only does it weight a significant amount, it's quite massive when you get into the riding position. But I was quickly surprised by how agile it was once it gets moving, super fun bike!

    I have an '08 Connie with over 216,000km, pulls like a train. Only mods are a Power Commander 3 and Delcovic slipon. I ride with my brother and his '04 ZX12, when we go for a dig it's so close that it's hard to justify his uncomfortable (comparably) seating position, he definitely has the edge the more real estate you have. Incredible bike that does everything very well.

    Two weeks ago, June 2022, I bought a black 2012 w/bags and OEM trunk in perfect, never dropped "Concours" condition for $7,495 ($8,995 out the door) Lake Villa, IL Indian dealer. 11,000 miles, now it has 13, 200 (in 2 weeks!,) have discovered it has a cat delete full exhaust, Delkavic titanium pipe, quick shifter, LED lights, ECU flash, and I can verify 155 mph and I wasn't all the way there, love this 688 lb bike.

    I ended up buying GTR1400 after watching a lot of reviews. They don’t import them anymore to Thailand ( where I’m living) so it was a bit of a gamble not being able to test ride one except the one I ended buying used! I have no regrets & the more I ride it the more I love it!

    As was mentioned, there are a few mods on the bike -- paint and exhaust (C14 have single exhauste; right side), etc., but I agree with your assessment -- have an `09 which is almost exactly the same as a `08, lots of torque, lots of capacity and although not an R1 or an H2, very good handling for nearly anything paved...

    I have a 2015 and they are a blast. It is the ZX 14 motor just detuned for more low to midrange power. Have seen several of these with just crazy miles and still running like a champ. Only thing that would be nice would be cruise control for the longer rides.

    This is a great bike. I bought mine new in 2009 and can't seem to part ways with it. I made only a few basic changes from stock. Area P slip-on (purchased slightly used) Sargent low profile seat (purchased slightly used), C-Bailey wind screen (mid size). I recently had the ECU flashed by Ivan. Wish I had the flash done sooner. I've run Pirellis after I wore out the stock tires. The heat issues you all likely read about are not too bad in my opinion. I have 50K on it now and have no plans to sell.
    Currently, would like to add a Triumph Street Triple or a Ducati Monster as a second bike.

  • @ROrneli
    @ROrneli 4 роки тому +11

    I was about to get a ninja 1000 to trade my 600 zx6r , i was tired of being uncomfortable and wanted something fast but comfortable .
    I nearly bought the 1000 but my wife did not like the back seat. plus i wanted to do some touring and the 1000 you had to pay extra for the saddle bags.
    We spotted a 08 C14 with 7000 miles on the back, after getting on it i pulled the trigger.
    Honestly in thought i was going to hate the bike and I did it to please my wife .. having only riden a BMW 1250 and a tiget XCT I thought it would be the same.
    Well the bike is great, and i still go on short rides with it . The best feature this bike has is the long windshield,. I never though i would actually end up liking a bike that has a big windshield but holy crap(i bought a custom windshield ) but hole crap. I ride with the face shield on the helmet open 99% of the times unless it is raining or riding behind a dump truck, being able to feel the wind on your face without having to use glasses on the face shield is incredible .and yes I know there is still a risk . but after 25k miles some of them cross country i have yet to have something hit my eyes, so yeah..
    Another welcomed feature is the drive shaft. not having to worry about the chain is a blessing , just change the gear oil every oil change and you are set.
    This thing has power up the arse,. I raced a Z09 off a light and beat it, the guy was visually pissed.. lol also i have beaten friends on aprilla 1000s and even kept up (but lost) to a ducati Diavel and a hayabusa (lost too that thing is a beast)
    Also the wife has ridden with me from Miami to Savannah Georgia and she enjoyed it, we have since gone to St augustine and I did a long ride to new orleans. I mean it is not a gold wing but it can definitely do the long trips.
    My only complaint is that the FOB is expensive and if you lose it or get it wet it is pricey to replace, specially if you lose both, the Kawaski's kpass computer is like 900 dollars and you have to change it if you run out of fobs and did not activate another one.
    Also the bike gives out a lot of heat but i fixed that with pro long.
    Overall love the bike.. no regrets.
    The fastest i have taken it on an empty interstate was about 160 (indicated) mph, it was still pulling but i ran out of balls lol

    Contrary to popular belief the Concours engine is not the ZX14 engine. Many of the internals of the engine on the Concours (cams, pistons, throttle bodies, VVT etc.) are much different than the ZX14's internals.

    The ‘08 & ’09 are the most powerful and fastest of the C14’s. They dumbed them down in ‘10 and people chase oem power of the earlier bikes for their ‘10-later C14’s. Plus, the 08/09 look better and don’t look like the same bike as the last 10 years of C14’s.

  • @sanderslongdrive
    @sanderslongdrive 3 роки тому +3

    ''The most comfortable bike I've ever ridden.' It will need lowering if you are uner 5ft 10ins tall, unless you stop on tippitoes. Massive height aside ,the early 80s GTR1000 (I had three back to back) was even more comfier, and overall a far better machine - multiple coats of paint, no ABS simply aching to kill you, a proper back mudguard (I transferred one over from a 1981 GTR1000 to my 2008 GTR1400), and no piles of expensive irrepairable nonsense eg. tyre pressure sensors. Yes it only did 135 mph (before being restricted to 118 mph) but in the UK go that fast and likely one is sent to jail. So why did I buy a GTR1400? I didn't realise how badly the marque had deteriorated.
    'Same engine as the ZX14.' Yes, but unless you buy a very early model it will have been significantly de-tuned. Whatever version you have its a great engine.
    'It's super ninble.' Yes it is weaving about driving down the road, but try throwing that high C of G into a tight bend, or undertake a turning loop in the road! (Your 'tight turn' was actually massive).
    P.S. If your ABS goes haywire (as many do) then simply pull out the ABS fuse. If otherwise fully serviced your bike will the work great, including having a proper rear brake. A friendly MOT testing garage will pass you with the ABS disconnected. Mine does.

  • @donnafuller6293

    I love mine. I have had two, a 2008 and now a 2014 :) I love the heated grips and the ABS on the 2014 plus they have cooled down the engine heat off the fairing. The 2008 threw off way too much heat for summer riding with a bunch of gear on - when you were on tour going through cities slowly, it felt like you were sitting in a sweat lodge! haha...Zoom zoom!

Much rather have a Connie, but that is not going to happen. Stop with the “well, you can get a throttle lock and just deal with the antiquated electronics”. Umm, we are the customers. Kawasaki owners have been clamoring for the updates for over a decade. They can update their Other ZX lines, but not the Connie.
