Nearly 100k Kawasaki Concours 14! How good is it?

  • We took this bike in on trade and, well, it's been ridden a bit. Mileage is 91,5XX. This bike is currently available in our As-Is/Auction Back Lot, but I think this video is interesting to remain up on the channel. Far from a spring chicken, it will need some TLC, but it is shockingly good for this many miles. Got to love that Japanese build quality!

This is encouraging! I picked up a 2008 with 86k and will be going through it before putting it into service.

Peeps on Concours Owner Group Forum are getting 200,000 miles out of their connies. Cam sensor oil leak and valve cover leaks are common. Just put them on the centerstand for storage, it helps with the oil burning smell upon start up.

I searched high and low for high mileage concourse 14 and the highest one I found was like 41000.dont know where you saw all of these 200,000 mile examples.

i like how all connies sound like their valves are shot when you first start them for like 3 seconds.(its just the timing chain adjusting itself)

@@martincornish3179 strange, yet even the one on this video does it, i think it also has something to do with the oil draining from the filter , so while the pressure builds up,mine does it sometimes yes, sometimes no, alas mine is a 2008, maybe they fixed it in later models, i can see it scaring riders that do not know what is going on

Its the cam chain that rattles a little at first. When I park using the center stand it doesn't do it. I have an 09 with 40K miles. It's a great bike.

I have a Honda ST , with the V-4, with 82 k and it sounds fine. Gotta use synthetic oil and or change it way more often than the factory recommends, if you want 100 k + miles and little to no noise.

My recent 2008 is capable and it’s fast if you use the gears. I did prefer my ZZR1100’s though for acceleration and grunt. I had thought a bigger engine despite prop shaft, would’ve been as invigorating as the ZZR1100 but it just isn’t 😎

Ed, sorry for the delayed response. We don't check the comments on the channel very often. We aren't going to be doing any repairs to this bike. To be honest, the amount of labor that would be charged would would make this too expensive compared to other used Concours out there. It takes a lot of time to get all of the plastics, gas tank, etc off to access the valve cover. By the time you are all the way in there, might as well check the valves. This is the perfect bike for a handy individual who doesn't mind doing the work.

I heard for some one who is been riding it for long, that you don't feel a tiny bit of air on your body or legs. So I started to like this bike since I live in sort of cold place.

it may have the American style cruiser look, but it sure was the first to incorporate disk brake, electric start and furl injection... every motorcycle company these days copy Japanese innovations and styling

I've had Harleys, Hondas, Kawasakis, and Yamahas. Like any other brand you have to know which models/engines are good and which ones are turds. From my experience I would trust an Evo Sportster engine as much as any Japanese bike. The big twin Harley's not so much.
