That’s all cap… their machine has to program the people… plant you into radio, on TV, magazines, etc. consistently seeing an artist and hearing their music, you unconsciously just start singing along to their songs when it comes on.
That was of the past (even then I didn't listen to music I didn't like 80s/90s/00s). But today, most people aren't watching regular T.V., reading magazines, or listening to public radio. Now, it is 100% on the consumer because we go online and pick the artists or songs we want to hear and then the algorithm finds similar artists and music to what we have programmed in our computers. So, the consumer is the programmer in today's world.
@ no it’s not. You think when Coi Leray (might’ve spelled her name wrong) was all over the internet, that was because everyone was looking her up? The machine did that. You think when Tyla’s Water song was all over, that was because everyone was looking her up? During that time, they both were all over the internet, interviews, magazine covers, etc. where are they now? Those labels have connections to all other media outlets, I don’t know what process they use to determine who they’re going to push, but once that decision is made, they plant you into the system, and you’re an overnight sensation.. because you get validated by being on major platforms, you now have celebrity friends, you’re at the events, you have that look, AND you now have a “hot” record in rotation. Check this out, I never once in my life played either of their songs on my own free will, but I done heard it so many times on the radio and on social media, I knew the chorus word for word, I just never bought into who they were

As a black man who grew up in the Bronx in NYC at the inception of Hip Hop, this is what i noticed. 1. Black American inner city youth created Hip Hop. ( obvious) 2. Even thought black DJ's may have played it, it wasn't until people of the Caribbean made it noticeable ( Kool Herc, Silvia who put out the First rap album Sugar Hill Gang ) 3. Damn near the majority of Rappers in the beginning were Caribbean or descendants of Caribbean parents. 4. Since the Bronx is considered home to Hip Hop and KRS One says the Hip Hop consist of DJ, MC's, graffiti artist and break dancers. Hate to break it to you, but the Bronx was mostly Puerto Ricans and blacks back then. If you watch old videos you will see Puerto Ricans doing half of that
Kool Herc didn’t make anything noticeable. It was in existence 4-5 years before he had his party. Which why he copied what was already being done. DJ Hollywood & Grandmaster flowers predate Herc by years. Also Sylvia didn’t put out the first rap record. King Tim predates rappers delight & sugar hill’s rap recordings. The majority of the first rappers were black americans. As a black & Latin male that grew up in old New York. Most Caribbean people in NY didn’t mess with with Yankee culture. Herc has been in BX since he was 12. Dancehall didn’t exist when he was there. So that’s also false. Lastly…Krs is from brooklyn. He didn’t come to the Bronx until his late teens. He was 7 in 73. He wasn’t in the Bronx or up in Herc’s jams…the era you’re talking about second and 3rd era of blacks/ Latins together in the jams. If you’re from old New York you would know…Latins called black music “jungle music” & didn’t want their kids hanging with black kids. I’m a living product of that. I saw it in my own family. If you’re from the Bronx you know a lot of Ricans left the Bronx 68 to go back to island. It was gang central in the 70’s. Many Ricans didn’t hang with black at all unless they lived in the projects. They had to, blacks dominated nycha housing.
